Ford Racing 3 is definately an improvement over it's predecessor. There is a much wider range of cars to choose from (55 in total) and it looks as if Empire listened to customers' criticisms of FR2, in that there were no classic Ford's like the Capri and Escort.

Thankfully, that's been rectified in FR3. There are alot more British Fords now to choose from. I think IGN was very unfair to call the graphics mediocre. They certainly are not. Granted, in night time driving, the headlights are not illuminated very well and the back headlights are non-existent but other than that, the graphics are very impressive.

There are 14 championships in total, ranging from Easy to Hard. As you progress, you unlock cars and tracks. The tracks are also original and impressive, from off-road to motorways. Also, the cars' acceleration and top speed is now much more in keeping with how they perform in real life, unlike FR2 when a '49 Ford was capable of shooting up to 120mph in no time. For those who want a simple and fun arcade racer, I highly recommend this game.

Ok, not great

I've never played any of these Ford racing games before, this one just caught my eye when I saw an XC ford on the cover and it was in the cheapie bin, thought it might be interesting.

Quite frankly, I'm pretty bored with it already and I haven't even played it more then a few hours.

There is about 50 or so cars in the game to chose from, they date from early 1900's vintage cars to 2006 model fords. But playing the game you see that it's pretty much just repeating itself throughout the whole game. I got a little sick of having to win 3 races of a section to unlock new cars to use, I could've sat there and wasted my time playing it all day to unlock everything, but I just found a game save to download and unlock all cars and tracks for me to see what else was in the game.

I'm kind of disappointed, I mean, the game does feature a lot of fords to choose from, but the game play itself I don't find fun or exciting. I found one kind of track annoying where you have to drive along a line on the road to gain your booster speed, and the computer just took off on me. I suppose with a bit of practice you could probably master it, but I just wasn't interested in it.

Although there is a few cars to choose from, you can only choose a certain set for each individual race, it would've been interesting to be able to pick any of the cars for any race.

The handling on some cars is ok, some just slip and slide all over the place. It is a multiplayer game if you wanna get online and have a go, but as I said, it really didn't interest me. It's just standard lap to lap racing. There's no hidden little extras or shortcuts to find, it's pretty much just a standard racing game.

So if that's your thing, it may appeal to you. But me, I like jumping things, finding things & being able to have something that makes it fun to play. This game is just kind of a realistic racing game for die-hard ford freaks. I say kind of real because everything is about realistic as it gets in a race, except the cars don't take any damage, so trying to ram them off the road to crash is not seen anywhere in this game.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not against this game just cause it's a standard race, but it lacks the fun and competition compared to great straight forward racing games like Daytona USA.

The graphics of this game are pretty good, the cars look nice and the backgrounds are ok, but the sound of cars is pretty crappy for some of them, and I really got sick of the voice that tells you EVERYTHING you have selected in the options. The music isn't memorable, but it's not annoying. The controls I guess are ok.

Overall, if you're a die hard Ford nut and want a simple G rated racing game where your car is invincible, then this game is for you.
