This edition (and no edition of Half-Life) allows you to play online multiplayer. You'll be forced to download Valve's Steam client (211 MB for HL alone), then the latest game patch (64 MB). That's a total of at least 265 MB of download! Valve offers NO texh support, either by contacting them or through message boards. If you someohow screw up your registration, you will not be able to play online. Valve will not help you fix your registration problem, nor any other problem. Also, cheaters abound in multiplayer and Valve has done nothing to address this. Valve is not a company to do business with. Lastly, this game gets old fast. You'll be bored with it in less than 2 weeks! You'd be better off buying Quake III Arena from ID software, which has none of these problems.

Yea sure the single player is great but the mulitiplayer is the most crappiest setup i have seen!Half the time i cant even get on to a server because it's so messed up!I dont get any info on the servers at all.I tryed everything. But the one time when i got to play the great mod Team Fortress it was great.I dunno maybe its just my computer but it sure didn't seem like it.But it is a pretty fun singleplayer game.Scared the crap out of me, too.

Half-Life is still in the top ten games, because of the online play. with tons of features like msg chat in the game or voice all built in the game nothing to download. Want to run a server of your own right in the game. All kinds of Mods to many to count, and numerous web sites and pages for cheats, skins, mods etc.

outstanding game, lots of bugs though..

Granted, this game is already 6 years old now, but it still gives me more fun than most of the other games I own. A lot of "FPS"'s have either poor physics or poor AI, but half life seems to have gotten it nailed, excellent physics and the artificial intelligence is actually smart. The plot itself is fun with many different and challenging levels and weird twists riddled throughout.

Graphics are great for such an old game, but this is an old game and graphics are a bit weak when compared to modern games. To put it in perspective, they would be better than a playstation 1 game but not as great as a playstation 2 game.

Sound production is actually very good with half life. However, your system sound card and speakers will really make or break this. The better sound card really makes a difference especially with "EAX" mode enabled.

Where gameplay leaves you happy, the graphics and constant game glitches can get the best of your happy side. This is no joke, but half life probably has the most bugs of any game i have played. Problems like stalling in the middle of a game, unable to start display, scripting problems (for cheats mostly), inability to use most cheats, and problems saving games are frequent when playing. The biggest bug is with graphics and adjustments of graphics. The game has a hard time setting and implementing the settings and therefore stalls out and leaves you unable to "resume game". In addition, it constantly has trouble starting back up after going back to the main menu.

Whats even worse, the updates for half life havent solved ANY of the problems. The newest one which just came out (1.1.1.0) is still bugged. I have tried this game on other computers, some of which with large processors and they all exhibit the same problems. I have a P3 500mhz with a 32mb video card.

Considering the age of half life, i feel its an excellent game overall. You can play it to death and still love it. Consequently, i would recommend this game for your collection.

A great adventure

Sure there are many great first person simulations out there right now. But by any measure this is one of the best. I can get really caught up in this game. I have jumped out of my seat (in fear) and really enjoyed knocking off anybody (or anything) that does not wish me good health. If you liked Doom, Quake, etc. Than buy this game right now!

It's the coolest game I've ever played

It is the best game ever. The weapons are so realistic and multiplayer is non stop action 24 hours a day over the internet - fast connection required. I've never played single mode, why kill aliens when there are plenty of people out there waiting to be splattered!

Defineyly on my top 5 ever

Half life is among the 5 games I ever played for sure. The single player gives you countless day of fanatic game play, and the Multiplayer... A BLAST. You can download lots of mods which will allways have people playing at. I didn't see a single bug in this marvelous game. I am playing it in a daily basis for a year already. VBeware, You MUST have a video accelerator card.

Buying this game is well worth it

I am a big fan of Strategy games, and when I played my first 1st person shooter game, I turned away from it, never thinking that they were good. Yet, I was proved wrong. My friends purchased this game and told me it was well worth the money. So, I decided to buy it. I was stunned. The pictures I saw in magazines about HALF-LIFE were actual shots. The graphics were the best, the gameplay is awesome, and the interaction is very nice. The storyline is well plotted, and you gotta think ahead. You can't just run in a room, and blow everything to pieces. No, you gotta think. I say that this game is well worth it. I am now addicted to the game, and Team Fortress Classic (TFC)which is included. TFC is the best multiplayer game ever created, combining skill, and teamwork. For those of you out there deciding whether to buy this game or not, let me assure you, to buy it.
