Quake II

Yuck! It pathatic the sequal to Quake one of the best games of all time. This one looks like a cartoon and no fun to play. The charecters look like puppets and the AI is pretty dumb. The gameplay is very dull, It is an embrassement to Quake.

A must have for fans of first person shooters

Despite what all the critics have to say, I really like Quake 2. There's just something about it that keeps me playing it over and over. The graphics are a noticeable step above the original Quake's, and the gameplay is nice and sturdy. The missions in Quake 2 have a flowing feel to them that makes you believe you are working towards something. The sound is superb with all the explosion sound effects one would expect for this type of game, and the opening music in the first level is a great mood setter for the game. The ending is a little brief, but ID has never been known for producing storylines of epic proportions anyway. Online death match play, while not up to par with some other games of the same genre, is still quite fun and adds lots of replay value. If you're a fan of first person shooters, get Quake 2 now and pick up the mission packs while they are still available.

Quake2 still the best online mutliplayer game

After playing a number of online games over the past 3 years, little has changed. Sure, the variance of games certainly has changed but the best game available is still Quake2. Quake2 has by far been the most popular multiplayer FPS game since its release. Games like UT, Half Life and Quake3 just haven't cut it. Unreal Tournament and Half Life don't come close in the many features that Quake2 has to offer. Versatility in gameplay and choices for the gamer on the internet are Quake2's biggest selling points.

One of the things that makes playing an online game is the sense of community that one gets with other online players. While you are fragging away you get to meet people from all over the place. Entire sites have been created where gamers help gamers and sometimes they get together and talk about everything having to do with Q2. Other times they talk about sports, but the sense of a gaming community is there.

UT, Half-life and Quake3 just don't have the feel that Q2 does. While Q3's graphics may be a little better, the actual playability is quite annoying [all of the jumping around that goes on] and there hasnt' been nearly the support for Q3, UT or Half Life on the net. The main reason for this: None of these games can compete across the board with Q2.

Ive played this game and at first I was dissapointed but it got MUCH better. The graphics are fair the enemies are a challenge yet defeatable.I thought it was funny to blow someone up with the roket launcher with the quad damage(try it). I do NOT recommend Quake 2 for N64 seeing on how it has ONLY 5 levels. I highly recommend this game.

An amazing sequel to a legendary first person shooter....

Quake 2 is an awesome game. The levels and enemies and game play and sp + mp modes are well designed, and mp mode has a nice feel, unlike Q3, or UT. This game also features great graphics if you have a card like the 3DFX Voodoo or 3DFX Voodoo 2. OpenGL looks awesome. This game is good. It is even better than the old quake. It is true 3-D fps. On my system, I played this on a 64mb system, with a Pentium Pro processor overclocked to 233mhz, with 3DFX Voodoo 2 8mb video memory with Windows 98. Wow, the game is awesome. With 16-bit audio integrated, too. This game rocks. The zombies are cool, the graphics are great, the sound is alright. The only game that truly holds a classic legendary candle to Quake 2 is Unreal. Quake 2...

Sweet game

This game is the best game on the pc that i've ever played! The graphics are decent but not as good as CoD or anyof the newer games but still with opengl it looks as smooth as any newer game, but with only software render it looks like a ps1 game. The gameplay is a real treat! The AI is magnificant but could be better. My favorite levels are jail through the end, you see your comrades crawling around like mindless zombies after they've been tourtured. Like once i opened a cell to let out one of my buddies. He crwaled out of his cell and started begging me to kill him, truly a work of great AI. The game also has some good expansion packs but the original quake 2 will always be the best. Multiplayer is also great, it should be since people still play a game that was made in 1998, 6years ago i mind you. So do yourself a favorand get quake 2. It may not have the graphics of quake 3 but its single player is alot better thaN UNREAL TOURNAMENT or QUAKE 3. So here is it in a nutshell, a great game with good graphics and sweeter gameplay, do yourself a favor and go by a copy, you won't regret it!

I'm one of these guys that has a penchant for getting into old classic games way way after they have been released and longer after they have been considered current. I got Jedi Knight for the first time in 2000 and was addicted to that for months, and recently a friend of mine gave me a copy of Quake 2, which is one of the best shooters I have had the opportunity to play
It's definately following the classic DOOM formula, and no matter what "storyline" they attach to it or other DOOM clones the point is the same, you are a nameless soldier deserted in enemy territory with a single blaster, turning slowly into a one-man army and getting a huge arsenel in no time at all. The graphics, for a game made in 1998, are phenomenal, much better than Jedi Knight which came out around the same time. The weapons are all a blast to use, and the gameplay is very challenging but rewarding. Not to mention the enormous triumphant death kick of of those giant guys who swing hammer-arms at you is absolutely hilarious! Can't wait to play this online, but it's worth a buy or a burn. Great game!

Best online multiplayer game ever

Yes this game is old..1998 I believe. However this PC classic still holds its on with the games of today..better some say. Quake 2 was the next step in the Doom/1st Person evolution and brought online multiplayer to the masses. The grahics are still superb even today. The weapons offer a perfect selection, achieve almost perfect parity with one another, and as fellow Quakers can atest are incredibly fun to use. As I heard another reviewer mention, Quake 2 can definitely steal your day or weekend before you know it. For the younger folks out there - I urge you not to turn your nose up at this one - get this game and you will be pleasantly surprised. I can promise that.

Best shooter game out ::Surpasses Quake 3::

This is one action packed game. I have played all three Quakes, and this one seems to stand out more than the rest. The accuall game set aside from the multiplayer is one of the best formated ones yet. The villans keep coming back for more to give you a more action packed game.

Now, if you have a older computer, with a low Mhz...then I advise you to go out and get Quake, it isn't nearly as good as Quake 2, or 3, but still you get the same formatted game. Or if you have a modern computer size, with a good or great Mhz size, please try this game, it will be one thing you will never forget. Now for Quake 3, I could go on and on about how it is all wrong. For one, you need a High Speed Connection (Cable, DSL, ISDN, T1, or even a T3 modem for exellent playing). Plus the requirements are EXTENCIVE.

Now in Multiplayer, this is one action packed game when you are looking for a good multiplayer. You play against other people on the internet (if you have internet access). There are so many clans (groups) that are really fun to play with. Im in a clan myself and it's a fun time when you have friends that you can play with.

I am so confident that you will love this game...here is what i have bought due to the game.... DSL Modem, 3Dfx Voodoo3 2000 Video Driver, and a NEW COMPUTER...trust me when I say you'll LOVE THIS GAME.
