An easy to learn, semi-addictive game

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 20 / 22

From the makers of the acclaimed SimCity comes SimTower. This game, although from an impressive company with a good reputation, doesn't live up to it's good name as well as it should. The view for the majority of the game is the same, just getting bigger, it's a cut-a-way of a hotel. The game is simple, build a 5-star hotel, but the work to get it there is far from simple. This game is challenging, time taking, somewhat addictive game. You build apartments in your building if you want a constant source of profit. Condos are built if you want a one-time payment. You build theaters, escalators, resaurants, offices, and more in this game. As your rating increases(2 star to 3 star...) so does the amount of items you have the ability to insert. The reason I gave this a four star instead of five is just beacuse I didn't find it incredibly addictive. It couldn't hold my attention long enough. Most of the time is spent waiting for your money to accumulate so that you can purchase new features. All-in-all I would reccommend this game, even with its downsides, just because it is a fun and simple game to learn and play. I think I might go play it right now.

This game lets you you build a vertical empire. As you build, your population grows larger. You start with $2,000,000 and as your population grows so does your fund. As you achieve higher ratings (1 star, 2 star, 3 star, 4 star, 5 star, and "the tower"), you can build more things. To be awarded the stars needed to get 5 stars and higher you have to meet certain requirements. You can name 20 people and 20 tenants. This game takes a few months so it will pass time. It is also a good game if you like only small amounts of pressure. As you journey on your trip to a "the tower" ranking you take up many challanes. Keeping good evaluation and dealing with terrorists who will go to any level to charge you money. But you might not have to pay them, if you have good security. I think this would be a good game to have because of all of the traits listed above. So consider it when you want a game.

An oldy but a goody.

I think Sim Tower suffered by virtue of the fact although it was highly inventive, engaging and fun; it looked old fashioned, awkward and silly in a short space of time.
Had it been released in a time when computer technology was not so rapid in it's change and advancement then it may have had a chance to become a classic game.
That said, in my opinion it is a bit of a gem and really quite subtly educational. It has it's faults and flaws but they are part of the fun really. A tip I would offer is to leave it running overnight to build up building funds. You may return to minor disasters, flea bitten hotel rooms, fires, bombs, out of business stores; but you will have the capital to remedy the situation and do some more building. Some good old fashioned kind of computer fun if that can indeed be said!

SimTower is the best game in the Sim series. I played the game for countless hours during the first year I got it and I still go back and play maybe five years after I first bought the game. A must buy for anyone who likes operating and building games.

A Semi-Good Sim Game

Definately not the best simulation game put out, but still, this offers some addictive gameplay, until you reach "tower" status. There are different levels and your job is to build a sucessful mall complex, with shops, movie theatres, rec halls, condos, business offices and more. With rare VIP visits, bomb threats and Santa Claus this game doesn't have tooo many unexpected twists. You have to do a lot of waiting to get to new levels and to earn more money. I'd say if you like sim games give this one a shot if you find it at a cheap price.

Good until the end

The game is good even in the very beginning, when building options are very limited (condos and offices, mainly.) The building options expand with time (each time your tower gets another star: 1 star to 2 star, 2 to 3, etc.) That's pretty fun, especially since you can keep track of a person and follow them around. It's fun until you get to around four stars.

At around four stars, things start to level off. Nobody wants to live in your condos, and you have to check on the happiness rating all over the building. Trust me: that is INCREDIBLY BORING after the second time or so. And you have to do it way more than two times.

Winning the game is pretty easy, though it takes a lot of time. The tower can be up to a hundred stories, which is nice, except for the fact that you need a one hundred story tower to win the game, and the last 60 stories are pretty boring. You can play on after you win, which I thought would be cool. It's NOT. It's just the same thing, over and over again, making sure the people are happy, etc.

So if I find the second half of this game so boring, why did I give it four stars? I've played this a bunch of times, and I rarely continued a game all the way to the second half. The first half is more fun, anyway. If you're going to buy this, play it while it's fun, and stop (and put it away for later) when it's boring.

All in all, the first half's good, the second half isn't. If you have a short (or medium-length) attention span, this is the game for you. If you want to play only to win, then I suggest you go for a game that's more fun all the way through.

Good fun but........

Well, this game is a ton of fun through 1-3 stars. But after people start to get incredibly aggravated with your condo rates (even when the are so low you are losing money) and your cash starts going down the drain. But it is very addicting, so even when you lose you start right over again. It's like suddenly zooming into one of the buildings that is being built in SimCity. You start with nothing, except a few thousand dollars and an empty lot. But as you build your tower up (I suggest leaving the basment levels for later because you will want them for cooler stuff later, like a subway) from a 1 star rating to a 5, you get many new features that improve your Tower. Oh...but just to warn you, to change the price you charge for certain rooms, you have to click on every single one. But besides all the cons it is really fun and should work on any Window computer, though you might need to change it's compatibility. If you do decide to buy, good luck to you, and may your tower ever grow taller and a terrorist never put a bomb in your building.

Another one of those Sim Games

This game is very fun for a long time. but eventually it gets boreing. Newer, faster, more popular games come out and then you set it aside. But while you're playing this game, you learn lots. You have to make it just right and position all of the offices, condos, fast food joints, hotel rooms, resteraunts, lobbies, parking spaces, and elevators in the right place to achieve a "tower status." This game is very addictive and I recommend it for people with lots of time(and who like games from the Sim collection).

SimTower is a really great game, but the graphics for people really stink. They are just like pixeled black dots-and when they are red they are angry, if they are blue, they are given a specific name-and the movie places need more movie options. Plus you need to put elevators for higher floors--from 45 to 100 (if you ever reach it)or more. Overall, it is very fun, but don't expect it to have very good graphics!
