Great game!

I too am sick of all the crybabies complaing about the game! If you have Star wars already, all this is, is a repackaging of the game along with all the digital downloads!(Only buy if you want to get the special vehicle the AT-RT!(noobs beware peeps will try to buy these off you cheap, only take a min of 50mil.Yes there is nothing new to the game with this release, like another planet or area to explore,so only pick up for the special or just to have the whole thing on one disc! the game is great and yes they change it to try and make it more player friendly, this can be frustrating but people gotta learn to adapt and deal with it,stop whining! It has a ground play element, space play, you can own property, you can play player vs. player or player vs. environment(NPC) . the choice is yours! If your a new player the cost is worth it for 1 month comes with the price! Good luck and have fun! And May the force be with you!!!

SWG is still a great game!

I have been playing SWG since beta and though there have been a lot of changes, it is still a great game to play. I surf the forums alot. I can tell you that most the people who have left the game are the power players who had their power taken from them and they couldn't handle it. Also the crafters that dominated the market.
Now not all the changes were good. If you played from launch, you miss the complexity the game had. And there were a few let downs like spending 6 months to a year developing your Jedi, only to have them change it so anyone can start as a Jedi, instead of earning it. There are bugs, but then look at how massive this game is. You are going to have some problems.
But let me tell you I have played this game since beta and will play until they shut the game down.

Huge improvement to the way the old SWG played. The game is fun playing solo, but if you want the most out of your SWG experience, get a friend to join you. The game is more complex than other MMO's, but you don't have to be a big Star Wars fan to enjoy it. Adding all of the expansions in one box was a great idea, especially at such a low price. You can't beat it.

GAME RULES! DON'T LISTEN TO THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS, TRY IT FOR YOURSELF

Ok first off, i'm a veteran player from the Pre-NGE (New Game Enhancements) Pre-CU (Combat Upgrade) and deleted my character and canceled my account out of anger when SOE screwed us when they came out with the CU and NGE reducing the 32 professions to 9 but still come on. I mean yeah this game still needs alot of work but its slowly coming back to its glory days. Many Servers are getting repopulated such servers as Ahazi and Bloofin with thousands of players on each one. Still a whole lot of things to do and they just recently brought back creature handler for all the old beast masters out there by adding a extra expertise tree to your previous ones. The player community is great and many great people out there to help you along. Me, I play on Bloodfin with my rebel toon Jaick Valrius a jedi and a leader of a very sucessful guild called New Republic Force Academy (NRFA). Its awesome, lots of fun. Of course you do get the people who will annoy you but thats what the ignore option is for. If you buy this game I highly recommend the server Bloodfin, best, most populated server out there, with dozens of people in each city. And hey, if you do play, just contact my toon and I'll be glad to help.

The mission system called legacy can be tedious (what game isn't) but in the end they get you up many levels in just a few weeks. Many cool items to own, and with the limited professions you can still make the best out of it. SOE may suck but they are trying and rumors are that they are working on a secret project that will introduce vehicle combat and player owned capital ships in space, yes thats right, its said sometime at the end of the year SOE will allow players to own their own captial ship be it a mon calamari cruiser, star destroyers, or dreadnaughts plus adding new planets. It sounds like SOE has big plans and people will be quite pleased when they introduce this into the game.

Again dont listen to the negative reviews, they are players from the old game and will complain untl the gamereverts back to the original. Try it for yourself, dont let others make your decision for you.

Great Game

I found the game to be a heck of a lot of fun and a truely immersive Star Wars experience. SOE have been consistently working to improve the game and add new content.

Take the role of one of nine iconic Star War's professions, and explore over 12 different planets. Immerse yourself in a deep crafting system, that amongst other things lets you design your own spacecraft. Pilot spacecraft and fight against the Rebellon, the Empire, or pirates in space and land. Use the new expertise system to customise your character. Spend time questing, hunting or engaging in PvP. The choice is yours.

The best thing, you can bypass all these reviews both negative and positive and make up your own mind by downloading the free trail and playing the game yourself.

Amazing Game

Ok first off I am sick and tired of people writting bad reviews of this game. The people that give it 1 star are people from the old game, "HEY Pre-NGE Gamers, GET A LIFE! Quit trashing a great game." I played the old version and this version even after NGE it was still a great MMORPG. SWG is an amazing game and SOE is doing great work to make it better. And in the coming months more advancements will be made and more ep's will start appearing, this game is not dead, there are thousands of people I run into on the game. People say that when NGE hit only around 15-20 people were on, BS! I see hundreds if not thousands daily. Sure maybe days after NGE it was empty but now its packed and most servers are full with many interesting players.

So to all that are thinking about buying this game, BUY IT! You wont regret it. Leveling can be a pain but what MMORPG dosn't have tedious leveling up. I can tell you once you get into the high levels the game gets even better. Take from me, a vetern gamer who has played both sides.

people who give the game 1 star are flat out lieing

(Note: new players, please join the Ahazi or Bria server because those 2 servers have the most people on them)

-This game is midly fun. This game pack includes the original game, Jump to light speed, the wookiee homeworld expansion, and Mustafar(very fun quests on mustafar)

-You get to pick from 9 professions and receive pilot as a free profession.

-There is 10+ planets to explore not including the expansion planets.

-They have added a new way to "grind" your character on the ground using the new legacy quests(but the legacy quests have a very tedious feeling to them though, because you do repetive tasks.)

-The ground game is a little buggy, and you only get an average of 20 fps on a decent computer.

-Space is very fun,not buggy at all(but is an aquired taste for most people), and is much much much more complex than the ground game ATM.
-You can use tie fighters, x wings, and even Yt-1300's(han solo's ship), and much much more
-You level pilot by doing missions in space, and the final mission is to blow up a corellian corvette in Kessel space.(requires large group)

In conclusion, I Would say try out the game especially if you like wow...because SOE borrows alot of ideas from world of warcraft for the ground part of the game.

best game ever!

I don't know what these guys are so mad about! This game has it all!

First off you know that the developers of this game love their player

base because they constantly give us what we want! They love us soo much

that when they see that your spending too much time playing and not

spending time with your family they respond lightning fast.

Developer: "Bill, theres almost 100,000 people enjoying the game because

it's so unique and immersive. looking at these numbers, players average 6

hours a day logged in. Quick! change it comepletly make it like a console

game! click click click attack, its perfect!."

All those other MMO's out there that never succeeded in anything like

Everquest 1 never changed the entire gameing system. See what happened

that game! Nobody played it. So this game is for you. Believe me it's the

challenge of a game that makes it great. In Star wars galaxies you will

be challenged to pick a profession and grind away for hours on end and

then a month or two later you can start all over again because the

developers will change the whole thing. Thats awsome, its like getting a

whole new game for just your $15 bucks a month! Sweet!

For some reason all my friends I used to play with have all left the

game and at first it made me sad and lonely. But then I realized that

once more Sony was watching out for me! I have the game all to my self

almost! WOW its like being in an amusement park with no one in it but

you! You can travel the entire lenght of this gorgeous landscape for

hours and sometimes you might not encounter another soul! Score! I travel

to Tatooine and day dream about the past with Jedi and Riflemen and

dozens of other unique and diverse players would hunt Krayt dragons.

Their all gone now but whats that got to do with game play? I think Sony

agrees with me. Nothing at all.

Don't worry about being bothred by whiny negative people in this game

either it's awsome. As soon as anyone has the nerve to bother you and

complain (im really again not sure what they are whining about exactly) a

player ingame or on the forums will tell them to shut up and quit playing

the game! The community in this game simply couldn't get any better! So

what are you waiting for! Buy this Game now!

I joined the game back in 2004, and it was great, but I didn't like the NGE (New Game Enhancement) too much, So I quit in early 2006. But I decided to give it one more try, and I love it! I realized that it's not the game I had before, this is a new game and a great one! There are still some bugs in the game, but patches are commonly coming out. There are a lot of veterans of the old game that really don't like the NGE, so they give it a 1 star. They don't understand, SOE (Sony Online Entertainment) made a good move, now it's easier to make more content/patches/expansions to make it a even better game!

Try the Trial! (4.5gb)

I thought this needed to be posted: (credit goes to Cody Dean)
"While it is true that SOE, beholden to intense scrutiny and interference from LucasArts, has made several mistakes in managing the changes to the game, Star Wars Galaxies is getting better with each new Chapter and update added to the game. As a 23-year veteran of software development -- and 20 years of playing computer games of every stripe -- I marvel at the complexity of massively-multiplayer online games, especially a game with as much internal flexibility and player-control of the environment. It is true, SWG isn't perfect, no software is. But is is a game that can be enjoyed.

SWG is NOT horrible, and Mr Cooper's comments are laced with a level of bitterness that detracts from the value of his review. His views do not reflect those of the players still playing the game after more than three years, myself included.

If you've not played SWG before, there is no reason why, if you enjoy Star Wars and MMOGs, that you shouldn't at least give it a try. With purchase of the game comes 30 days of paid subscription, and that can be enough time for many people to decide whether to continue. How many games have you bought, tried, and stopped playing? How many more have you heard "horrible" things about, tried it yourself, and then realized the reviewer was mistaken?"
