Fantastic may be right

It seems that every big blockbuster movie that comes out, a game has to follow it for every system. And with the Fantastic 4 movie coming out it always has a game to come out for it a week before. That means the movie may give away the ending to the movie just like it did for Spider-Man 2. That is a bad thing.

Let's start with the gameplay. The game is fun to play but it can get really boring and monotonous. It's basically just a beat 'em up game. Go to one area, about 10 enemies come out, kill enemies, then about 10 more come out. That's basically it. You can shoot fireballs, smash things, stretch really far, and turn invisible and that puts the characters moves and powers to the max. That also means you can play as all four characters. Mr. Fantastic, The Invisible Woman, The Thing, and The Human Torch. Most of the time you only get to play with only one or two at the same times but when it comes to bosses you can play all four and each person has their own way to help defeat the boos or defeat it. So you can't beat it with one person. Also don't think it's hard to switch characters because it's mapped to the d-pad and switching characters is fast and easy. The game is also easy. You can beat the game in about 8 hours so it isn't that long. Although you can beat the game in that amount of time there is a Medium and Hard mode and there are plenty of unlockables.

Now the graphics. The graphics are ok at best. The only time the graphics are excellent is when you're in gameplay or if you're in a transition cutscene. But when you have a small cutscene the syncing is off and the graphics look bad. The Human Torch looks pretty slick and so does when the people use their powers.

The sound is pretty good. It features the stars from the movie doing their characters from the movie. There really is no in-game music but the menu music sounds cool. I liked the sound effects when the people used their powers.

Overall the game is really good and I think it will be a best seller because of the publicity.

This game is the only Fantastic Four videogame expirience ( at least that i know of) and it is so fun! What makes this game fun is that the people who made this game didn't limit themselves to just base the game on the movie, i watched the movie, and i have to say i expected it to be a little better, but this game is filled with much more action than the movie, you get to go to more locations than the ones in the movie, and you get to defeat a lot of more villians than the ones, or should i say one ( Doctor Doom)in the movie. This game has the best graphics i ever saw! The Thing looks so real, and trust me, making a giant orange meatball look real cannot be that easy! Anyways, i think this game is one of the bests i ever played, and you should not miss the opportunity to buy it ( or at least rent it)

Great Game

I bought this game for my kids. We have the Nintendo Game Cube. Fantastic Four's game is a big hit. Very enjoyable. Its not that complicated & I can even play it. So definitely recommend it - as it will get used.

This game is related to the comics, but better. During gameplay, players can switch between characters and use special abilities. 2-player is even better. You can do coopertive to make it easier to beat the game of do versus, which is personally my favorite. You can use the 4 characters plus extras to battle each other with special abilities, movies, and different arena's for fighting. Here is a little quiz to find out who is your favorite character if you don't already know.

1. What do you like most: a) fire b) invisibility c) strength d)flexibility?
2. Are you: a) quick-reacter with no thinking? b) thinks about the consequences c) have a golden heart d) just plain SMART.
3. Are you scared of: a)water b)being abnormal c)people dying d)stiffness?
If you choose A you are a Human Torch fan
If you choose B you are a Invisible Woman lover
If you choose C you are The Thing's admirer
If you choose D you are Mr. Fantastics sidekick
Well I hope I helped you and I STRONGLY suggest you buy this game if you like the review.

Not so fantastic after all.

I rented this game at Blockbuster after I saw all those commercials raving about it. Let me just make it clear that this is not the Fantastic Four you have been looking for. I didn't finish this game and returnded it in two days. After playing this game, I was looking forward to watching the movie. the storyline seemed awesome. Here is my overview of Fantastic Four.
This game reminded me of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, except it wasn't as fun. You get an assortment of powers by pressing a combo of buttons to defeat a monster. Besides the bosses, I found my way through the game just by pressing "a" repeatedly. Basically, this is another pure button masher. I also wish they would explain the story more clearly, and I wanted the cutscenes to be a bit better. All you do is kill all the enemies, move to the next level, kill the enemies, and move to the next level. Sound fun? The graphics were the strong point of this game, although the Human Torch seemed too shiny. You will be amazed by them. I wish the music was a bit better. It would be cool if there was music from the movie instead. In co-op mode you play the same levels with another person. That would probably make the game a bit more fun.
Buy the game and see what you think. However, I would suggest The Return of the King instead. It's a button masher, but a really fun one. The co-op mode is also better, and the game is half the price.

Great GAME get hooked on Fantastic Four

I'm writing this review because like everyone else...I love the comic book universe. I'm also writing this so that it helps people make up there minds on whether to purchase this game or not. Because I'd like to assist in boasting sales for this game so that a sequel can be made. The last Fantastic Four game was made back in the Playstation 1 era nearly 8 years ago. There is no reason why nearly a decade has to pass by before a new FF video game was made. Just to give you a brief summary Marvel Enterprises was in bankruptcy hell back in the late 90's cause it seems like no one buys comic books anymore & that industry seemed to be dying very slowly. Comic book stores are like Kentucky Fried Chicken. You love it but there's not too many around. Its Marvels fault anyways because all the good artist went to Image comics & they got nothing but LOSERS to draw their iconic titles such as (X-Men, Fantastic Four, Spiderman, etc). So Marvel was brought out & now it was more accessible for their characters to hit the big screen as oppose to the mid 90's where it was just so difficult for movie comic book projects to get off the ground. The loss for Marvel is that they only get 5% out of all movie earnings. So if Spiderman 2 raked in 280 million in US movie ticket sales Marvel would only receive 5%. Anyways let me get to the game. It's a GREAT GAME. Since the end of the 2-D era it's just been so rare to find a good or decent Action Adventure side scrolling beat em up game. The days of great action/ beat em up games like Streets of Rage 2 & Gunstar Heroes were gone. Almost every comic book tuned video game ends up being a TRAGEDY (BATMAN, SUPERMAN). I have no idea why. This is a great game & very fun in 2 player mode. Even when you're playing alone its still great cause you get to change between all 4 characters to solve a mission or stage. So during a mission you get all 4 characters on screen fighting even though you're only controlling one heroes the computer controls the other ones. The game design is great but I feel it could have been better & prettier considering how far we have come in the video game industry. Games like Zelda look beautiful & sometimes I wish more detail & artistry would have been brought into the manufacturing process of this release. The game seems to follow the movie story line but adds in multiple enemies from the comics to not ruin the game. Because it would be boring if it was only Dr. Doom you were fighting against. You get a numerous amount of villains from the comics making an appearance in the game to bring down the Fantastic Four. You also get all the actors from the movie voicing their video game counterparts. Each character has special abilities & talents which you need to complete certain stages. For example Mr. Fantastic AKA Rich Reed is a computer wiz & can unlock certain doors. Sue Storm AKA Invisible Woman gets to use her invisibility & force field wielding powers to complete her objects & it goes on. You get to choose between the 4 characters in certain stages you can switch between them anytime or have your friend join in. Johnny Storm AKA Human Torch never stays on the ground. He hovers & flies & attacks from above without his feet ever touching the ground. What is great is that they didn't make the THING move slow. If you look at past games like the HULK on XBOX or the HULK in Capcom fighting games they made him move really slow. With huge characters from comics it always like that including the Juggernaut. So the THING moves really fast & has great strength to his advantage. Along the way in completing your fight stages you get to unlock new moves. Just a great game overall & what's great is their POWERS. You get to utilize them so well & it's not like some other games when it's so hard to execute the hero's special moves. You also get to run around famous Manhattan locales beating up everything including totally destructible environments. You can tear up trash cans, mailbox's, pick up cars & Etc. It was great to fight Mole Man in Grand Central Station because I have to pass that terminal everyday to get to work. AMAZING!!!!! Out of 5 stars I give it a 4.5. Very minor flaws & there's always room for improvement in the sequel. I prey there's a sequel to the game & movie.

fun, but kind of confusing - review by Alex, age nine

I like this game very much because you get to play all of the Fantastic Four. You can pick up objects, and you can sometimes destroy glass. But the only thing I am not crazy about is that it can be confusing on some points. Like on level one, when you are Reed, the guy who stretches. You have to do some sort of secret code to unlock a door. This game is rated T for mild violence and language. The mild language part is true. But overall this game has good graphics, very good game abilities and excellent voices.
PS - lots of bosses and they are all hard.

this game is great although you have to think really hard if you play in an area that's loud!!! anyway it's still fun like the first one is good then the second is better than the third is SUPER HARD. but it gets harder as you move on like level 4 where thing is running allover town crushing anything and anyone through the whole thing and mr. fantastic's levels are hard too because you have to think and the people actually talk about a building that's about to fall!!!

A great game for a movie tie-in

If you enjoyed the movie you should enjoy this one. I didn't expect much out of this game because most video games that are movie tie-ins are not very good with the exception of Spider-Man. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this game is fun. Of course, don't expect it to be a Halo type of game. I like the use of four super heroes to utilize their special talents. They each lend their skills to help the team achieve a goal. Not too many games use this aspect which is too bad. This one is a fun romp while it lasts.
