Awful controls mar this otherwise decent game

ReVolt must have seemed like a good idea at the time: afterall, who doesn't remember racing radio control cars around theneighborhood. And Acclaim has done a fine job in track design, graphics and sound. However, it is nearly impossible to control your car as you race through corners. And, it is far too easy to take a wrong turn on a "track" and end up irrevocably in last place because there was no way to discern which way to go. Case in point: the 3rd or 4th track has you running through a supermarket after hours. After you go through (or over) the turnstiles, you must turn right and then drift left to go outside the store. The first time you race this track, you will inevitably miss this left turn and end up stck in a corner. It will take you 20-30 seconds to fix this - and the whole race is only about 2 minutes. Also, the game is full of various jumps and stunts that look like they might be fun to play with - but in fact using them slows you down, making them just window dressing. In short, you would have more fun with a simpler and less "realistic" racing game like Mario Kart than with this title. END

When I first got this game, I thought this would be just another racing game (as if there isn't enough already). After I played it for a few minuts though, I came to the conclusion that it was probably the best racing game since Rush 2.

Pros: The graphics are great and run smoothly. There are over twentyfive cars. It is an good chalenge (for those of us that like chalenges). The tracks are set in cool places. There are good jumps that slow you down, but are fun. Remote Control racing finaly has representation in the video game world.

Cons: Handling might take some geting used to. It can be a chalenge to folow a new track on your first lap. Difficult game for beginers.

I would recomend this game for someone who is fairly experienced at playing on the Nintendo 64

I think the problem here is that I played the demo on my pc, which looks fantastic, before I bought it for the N64. Hmmmm. It is fun, really. Lots, I mean it. There's just too much going on. By that, I mean my poor little 64 (with the 4meg pac, for sure) just can't handle it. I reccomend only using the hi-res option in practice mode, which is the most fun I found here, otherwise the freaky blink kicks in and I wake up drooling in front of the tube with my wife preventing a tongue swallowing using salad tongs. I mean, come on, remove some detail, (detail? where? ) and smooth out the frame rate. This is probably where the problem starts. See: If you set the difficulty settings higher, it adds realism to the car's handling. It will spin out if you clip a corner, or flip over if you hit a curb, etc. But! (!) You can set it to kiddie level, and haul booty. It really is fun when you get the hang of it, but it looks so much prettier on the pc. And, i'd imagine, on the dreamcast (I wouldn't know). But, if all you have is a 64, and the price is right, go for it. If you like this game, I bet you would like the first Vigilante8, as well. -moon.

This game is kewl.... for some .....

I saw this game in stores about a month ago and figured id get it. I got it, popped it in and started playing it. It was awesome, graphics were amazing, sounds cool, nice gameplay! The graphics are even better with the Nintendo Expansion Memory Pak! I have been racing RC cars in real life for about a year or two, gas and electric. If you have never played with an RC car, and buy the game thinking its an easy arcade racer, its really not. I mean, the people that give this game horrible reviews, its because theve never played with an RC car. If you take a sharp corner, youll spin out.. Just like in real life. Acclaim didnt make this game do be another Mario Kart or Crash Team, it is very realistic. If you havent raced rc cars and have patiance, you will get the hang of it. Its verry fun and addictive. If you like rc cars or have a lot of patience, i would strongly recomend you buying this game right now!

I don't think you should buy this game

When I bought this game it sounded like fun, but when I got it, you can bearly stay on the track. Not because you go fast but because you can't controll it!

I played this game on PC, and I liked it oh so much better on PC. When my brother got his N64, I got Re-Volt for him (and partially for myself lol) to play. First problem I encountered was getting it to save on the memory card, it may just be my memory card, but that was very annoying. Also, it is almost impossible to get in the lead.
Pros:
1) Good Selection of cars
2) Fun tracks
3) Multiplayer (I love multiplayer games)
Cons:
1) Hard to get or stay in 1st place
2) Memory card problem

I got this game used for ..., so it wasn't that bad. If you have a couple extra bucks lying around, this game is worth getting, and is fun. However, in my opinion this game is better for younger games, probably 5th grade and below.
