Spongebob: There are better Wii titles.

2 Rating: 2, Useful: 27 / 28

Fortunately, we rented this one before we bought it. The concept behind the game is fine. Plenty of non-violent puzzle solving activities, but it did not peg our fun meter. The Wii interface developed for this game is pretty flawed. For instance, there is a critical task where you have to activate a wench by twirling the Wii-mote in the air. Spongebob is told to crank hard and fast, which his animated character does. However, it only works if the player twirls it very slowly. Driving games feel pretty awkward too. Animation and graphics are only so-so. As a whole, the game lacks polish. I think most adults would be bored by the game and it won't maintain the attention of a younger audience for long, it certainly did not capture the interest of my kids who are fans of the cartoon. I considered giving this three-stars, but for the price, I think we should expect more from the game developers.

Kids LOVE it

We just rented this game to try out on our new WII and my 6 year old LOVES this game. He has already asked for us to purchase it outright.

He is downstairs right now playing with a friend and they both can't stop talking about how great the game is.

A few of the highlights:
* The dual controllers (Wiimote/Nunchuck) work out great for kids as they can play 2 player easily with each controlling one controller. This lets them both participate, have fun and practice team work -- all at the same time

* The motion sensitive controls are great for young boys. During battles they are both jumping around the room while waving their controllers to execute attacks and screaming in fun.

* The driving game is pretty cool too as you use the Wiimote in the sideways position. That part is a little hard for them, so I get to do the driving (just like in real life ;-) )

Highly recommended.

Excellent game

Out of the five games that I own (Monkeyball, Zelda, Rayman, Call of Duty, and this), CFTKK is the game that I find myself wanting to play most. It makes the best use of the different capabilities of the Wii remote, and the gameplay is constantly changing and never boring or repetetive. You do not have to like Spongebob to like this game.

Lame---at best

This game isn't that great. I gotta be honest and wonder why these three people reviewed this game so highly. Comparing it to other kid's games for xbox, xbox360, and game cube; it falls short. The controls aren't that great, and the kids seem to get tired of the racing aspect of the game really fast. Sadly their favorite part to play is the instrumental part, which is only a small part of the game. The story mode is awful and the characters are poorly drawn and animated. I'm not talking about picture quality; Im talking about laziness on the side of the artists. I wouldn't suggest this game for any aged children. Even my spongebob fanatic in my home finds it hard to have fun with this. Maybe some kids like this, but all the ones that have tried the one I have don't like it. Racing has been 1/2 of the story mode's game play in the start. Then it moves on to another variety of styles. Sort of a poor attempt at turning minigames into an adventure game. (just keep in mind it isn't purely an adventure game).

good but nothing special

I got this game for my wii and thought it looked preety cool so i bought it and liked it but didnt love it they use the remotes motion sencors well but its not all that fun. like the racing parts. I want it to be a spongebob game not a racing game which is about half the game if i want racing ill play exite truck not this. so overall its a good game and if you like spongebob then get it.

Seems like there is potential, but really hard start up

This game is really, really hard to start up. It seems that you have to move from game to game in "story mode" in order to get access to each game. My 8 year old - a very experienced gamer, who has spent hours on the wii sports games - was in tears several times trying to make his way through the first two games. The driving part in the first game "Diesel Dreams" is frankly beyond the skill base of a child. I finally took over and got us through that. As I write he is trying to "find Spongebob's license" and having lots of difficulty executing the jumps, etc.

This is not a game for a child...

Fun for all

I figured this game would be pretty stupid, but it was surpisingly fun and funny. The voices are not the best match for Spongebob and some of the graphics are just stupid, but really overall I think it is a pretty good game. All my family from me to my 3 kids ages 6, 8, and 10 were able to play it fine. The play time is farely long, which is good, and the controls are ok. The monsters are a bit repetative with few variations on each level, but the comentary is good.

The Best Game Ever

When I picked this game up, I expected little value. But as the time went by I began to like it. Eventually, I gave this game a 5 star rating. So anyone who sees this game, PICK IT UP. I cannot recommend this game enough.

Frustrating as you get farther along

The lower levels are pretty easy and lots of fun. As you get farther along the levels get more difficult. I don't play it very much anymore except on the free play levels. It is a good game for older kids than for younger kids.

2nd rate chase game with SpongBob painted on

My 8-yr-old son and I played it. (We both have played a lot on the Wii with the standard games that came free with the Wii which my son and I have mastered).
He spent 20 minutes trying to get control of the vehicle in this SpongeBob game. Very difficult to get through course without crashing. Felt like car randomly crashed. Weak graphics. Felt like a basic cheap game with SpongeBob stuck on top of it sloppily to make it sell.
After 20 minutes of boredom and frustration, we went back to games that came with the Wii free of charge which we both felt were far superior.
This SpongeBob game lets the Wii down. Both my son and I were very disappointed.
