Mario and Luigi : Super Star Saga is one of the best!

You want a game that can keep you entertained? THIS is the one. With a blend of Final Fantasy in the battle sequences and plenty of puzzles, including the very fun storyline, Nintindo has done it again in this game. The summary goes like this, evil witch in disquise steals Princess Peach's voice for her own evil plan which i wont spoil, Mario and Luigi find out, and they are off on a brand new adventure. Great Storyline, charming characters, one of the best battle systems which uses strategy and good timeing, which means battle will never get old! An example, at first you will learn a few jumping tricks which lets you learn the basics that let you use combos in battle, later in the game when you aquire items such as hammers, and power gloves you will unlock more combo moves- it adds more depth into the whole game.
In all- GREAT GAME, BEST CHARACTERS, SUPERB BATTLE ENGINE, CHALLENGING GAMEPLAY, some CATCHY MUSIC all wrapped up into one of the best mario and luigi games EVER made, which means BUY IT ALREADY! ITS A GREAT GIFT!

When I first heard about this game, I thought to myself, "Yet another Mario adventure...bound to be good, but nothing too special I assume."

Boy was I wrong. In a good way, that is. Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga has become my number one favorite game of all time. And you're hearing that from a hard-core gamer with a large past in gaming. I myself am an RPG lover, it's my favorite genre of video games, and this did not dissappoint one bit.

In this Mario RPG, the Goodwill Embassador from a neighbooring kingom, the Beanbean Kingdom, wants to strengthen the ties between the two kingdoms. The Embassador, Lady Lima, approaches Princess Peach and offers a gift. Lady Lima's assistant opens a chest, and out come a device that sprays a toxic fume on Peach. Panic arrises and Lady Lima transforms into her real identity, the evil Cackletta. Peach's voice is now explosive vocabulary; whenever she talks, explosions occur. Bowser is mad because now he can't capture Peach. He sort of "teams up" with Mario and they set off toward the Beanbean Kingdom, where the vast majority of the game takes place. This allows for some unexplored territory and an entirely original event sequence (this is not a remake of a classic like the Super Mario Advance series is).

In short, this is an excellent RPG that all will enjoy; hard-core games, newcomers, kids, and adults alike will get endless entertainment from this goldmine of a video game.

A MUST-BUY. And I mean that.

Good for the hardcore and people who do not know what GBA is

This game is good for anyone that is a hardcore gamer and the person who is very softcore. The game puts a lot of its money on being funny. It works well and should make you laugh. Now this game is off the wall. You will go to the Beanbean kingdom and Teehee valley. You may think it is for kids, but it is challeging and not in the 1 fish, 2 fish, red fish style. So anyone can play. It offers a lot of simple concepts so anyone that is nerdaphobic can understand such as syrup restores pp and mushrooms restore hp.
The story they tell is not the story for the whole game. Many plot twists. The start of the game, a witch posing as a queen goes to princess Peach's casle with the alibi of strengthning their kingdom's ties. The queen turns out to be a witch and steals Peach's voice. You must team up Mario and Luigi to save Peach's voice.
With Mario's RPG inovativeness, you have control over your character's actions in battle. this time in a Mario RPG, it is more of an, well, RPG. The characters have increasing strength and their are no chapters. Making the game more adult.
The combo system is changed too, instead of reducing by 1 or counterattacking by 1, you can dodge easily and couterattack according to your character's power. You can team up Mario and Luigi for a team attack. More simple elements. The only buttons you touch in battle are the d-pad and A+B. A for Mario and B for Luigi. Still challegeing.
The music is not that good most of the time, just during certain boss battles. But it is not enough to bring the gaming experience down.
Overall this game is simple yet challegeing, hilarious, one of the best GBA games I have played so far.

I recommend it to anyone openminded.

Player's Choice

Overall, this game is an excellent game for those crazy about RPG. It isn't as complicated as Final Fantasy, where you have tons of magic and stones and what-not involved. It's simple, but challenging at the same time. The game uses lots of humor, and it took me two times through the game to get all the meanings and humorous parts.

The characters are well-developed, and they even talk! (Well, not really, but they do say gibberish). You can control both Mario and Luigi by using the L and R buttons, and they each have moves specific to themselves.

Battling the bad guys is different than normal side-scrolling Mario games. Rather than just stomping on them and defeating them, it's more like a Paper Mario battle scene. You make use of rotating buttons on screen to choose whether to attack (with three different attacks: Jump, Hammer, Hand), Bros. Attack, where you pair up with the other brother for an attack, Item, and Run (which you can run from the battle).

The game uses graphics that are PERFECT for the GBA, and the sound quality is amazing, although it would be hard to compare with the DS sound. However, the game does end too quickly (15 hours for me), but it's fun playing the game over and over again.

If you are looking for a great game, look no more! Mario and Luigi is an excellent five star game that comes to you at a low price! ($19.99 MSRP)!

I was unimpressed. The Mario & Luigi handheld RPG series just doesn't stack up to the Paper Mario series or the original Legend of the Seven Stars. Not to label the game, franchise or the creators or anything, but this game in particular is better suited for younger children because of the level of difficulty, involvement and storyline this RPG supplies. Great game to break a younger sibling into the great RPG universe. The characters of this game are a riot though. Simply hilarious.

A must-buy!!

Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga is the best new Mario game I've played in a long time. This time it's a role-playing game, which gives it a twist to the usual Mario game, and they even injected some humor in it which makes it very funny and even more fun to play! Both Mario and Luigi go on the journey together to find Princess Peaches voice, and you can play either one of the bros. at any time during the game. I am addicted to this game and am so glad that I bought it! I can't put it down. This is a must-have for everyone. It's not too hard, either, like I've experienced in the past with other role-playing games and have had to stop playing. Anyone will thoroughly enjoy this one- take my word for it! (This is not a good game for young kids who cannot read, though, since there is a lot of reading involved that is inportant in order to play the game.) Make Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga your next video game buy! Like I always say, you can never go wrong with [buying] Mario. :)

Wow, I am an expirenced gamer was looking for a good Gameboy game to play while on my 35 hour car ride to Florida. I did a little research and found this game, a Mario-Luigi RPG that takes about 20-25 hours to beat. I forked over the $30 for it, read the manual, and could not wait to play. This game is by far the greatest gameboy game I have ever played. The turn-based game is a great for any age with tricky puzzles, unpredictable plot, and best of all, I NEVER GOT BORED PLAYING THIS GAME. If you spend a lot of time in the car, or on an airplane, this game is perfect. This game was invalueable to me on my trip and I do not know what I would have done without it.

This game is so awesome! My friend Jazz has this game too and she's really far on it. There's one part where Cackelletta (sorry if I spelled that wrong) fuses herself with Bowser and becomes this thing called Bowlleretta. Jazz says Bowlleretta is really hard. She hasn't beaten Bowlleretta, but she's trying. I myself have not battled Bowlleretta, but I'm trying to get there. So if you are thinking about getting this game, I would suggest that you do, because this is really fun! It's also pretty funny, which is one reason why I gave it five stars. Oh yeah, and one more thing... THIS GAME IS REALLY AWESOME!!!
