This game is the BEST!!! It is sooo much like the story itself! I have played games like Budokai and Budokai 2 but this game has worked it way to the *very* top! If you are a big InuYasha fan (like myself ^_^) you will absolutely LOVE this game! The controls are easy to remember and so are the combinations. The "Super Special Attacks" are both offinsive and defensive so it's a life saver (in the game). I love the part where Miroku goes after Kikyo and when he pats Sango! I laughed my heart out! You can change the things the characters say before and after battles but I cant tell the difference because I cant speak Japanese ;_; and I wish I could. If you LOVE InuYasha like I do, you will cherish this game.

Perhaps the Worst

If you've read my review over Marvel vs. Capcom 2 then you know I have given it the title if Possibly The Best, After playing this game I decided I had to review it that way I would have both ends of the fighting games world. Amazon Reviewers love this game so my ranking is going to take a hit but, so be it someone has to state the obvious about this game. As said in the last sentence Amazon reviewers just love this game reason is, they're Inuyasha fans. Don't get me wrong I love Inuyasha and own a collection of the DVD's; I'm just not a blind leader of the hanyou I guess. For some reason the plot gets a lot of praise, I for one have no idea why. Shippou and Kagome fight because... Kagome runs out of snacks, yes folks, the people at Bandai really put their heads together for this plot. Yeah you're collecting shards and yes they have a little explanation before you start fighting, does that really count? That's all from the show, and as soon as the little explanation to you collecting shards is over and you actually start fighting the plot disappears, the story does not unfold at all. This is a fighting game however so bad plot is extremely forgivable. Then there are the controls... which are way too simple. People may list simple controls under the heading of good things about the game but me, not if they're this simple. I've played RPG's with more complex controls. Characters seemed limited with a low number of moves and special moves that are way below spectacular, extremely below. The difficulty of this game is just amazing; buy this game and less than 15 minutes later it's possible to already have beaten the game with at least one character, maybe less than that. Characters look horrible, why wasn't there an Inuyasha game for the PS2 to be brought to our shores? Is this just a game to try and squeeze the PSX for all it's worth? The game does look thrown together. Couldn't they have at least translated? The only good thing I can think of about this game is Dream Fairy Tale and the fact that yes its Inuyasha.

Excellent game, especially for IY fans!

I've been a fan of the IY anime since before it began airing on American TV. I've grown very fond of the japanese voices, as well. I'm extremely pleased they left all of the Japanese dialogue in the game, even if I do not understand some of it. The fighting game, looking at it from a purely technical point of view, is not probably not the best fighting game you can get, especially with Guilty Gear 2 available. It is a bit simplistic (though I found that very nice). HOWEVER, it stays VERY close to the anime/manga, down to the personality quirks of each individual. It holds great value for the Inu-Yasha fan, even the most casual fan, as it is very true to the "spirit" of the story. My favourite thing is when Miroku does a random movement and fondles one of the ladie's butts. It's SO Miroku (!!!), and it's little things like that that add great flavour to the game.

This is not a fantastic fighting game, or even a fantastic game. There are many short cuts, and additionally, there's just not much to it. I'm used to the Tekken/Soul Blade-Edge-Caliber type fighting games, so the more Mortal Kombat/Street Fighter style controls were a bit difficult for me. However, with the limited number of attacks and simple key combinations, I can see how many could find this game unchallenging. In rounds, the characters' jeers and taunts are a bit hard to make out due to the sound quality (or maybe I have trouble 'cuz my Japanese isn't actually all that good...), and the opportunities for laming an opponant to death are all too frequent.

Despite all this, I can't recommend this game enough to true Inuyasha fans with a good sense of humour. This game is a *riot*! All these flaws only added a dollop of campy fun for me on top of an already hilarious game... Trust me, it's so hard not to laugh the first time you see Miroku bum-grope Kikyou (I mean, Sango, Kagome, sure... but *Kikyou*?!).

I get the feeling that the makers like the Inuyasha manga/anime a lot and really enjoyed making this game. They paid attention to the character histories and motivations, and made the characters interact with eachother in unique and sometimes very amusing ways. They jeer, taunt, sigh, apologize for winning, ("Kagome-sama, daijoubu?" "Gomen ne, Shippou-chan!") and even sometimes they change their moves. Most characters have two grabs, a standard grab (which is sometimes goofy in itself) and a special opponant-determined gag-grab... like normally Kagome's grab is to whack the opponant over the head with her enormous backpack, but when fighting against Inuyasha, successfully pulling off a grab sends him crashing to the ground with "Osuwari!"

But best of all, the original seiyuus are used (maybe the designers blew the budget hiring them and didn't have much left over for the actual game design...;)) so all that garbled in-round taunting and jeering is done by the actual actors who do the original Japanese voices for the anime. And *best* best of all, there's a mode to listen to and change these taunts and jeers. Some of the options here are extremely silly, and also extremely hilarious. Admit it, you've always wanted to hear Inuyasha bark, haven't you? And how can you resist forcing Sesshoumaru to confess, "I love you" to Kagura, Inuyasha, Toutousai... anyone you want!

Admittedly, the gameplay leaves something to be desired, but I think this game is well worth twenty bucks just for all the laughs. =D

I have loved Inuyasha for the longest time. I didn't know it was that well known by others. I am extremely glad that a video game is being made of this briliant work of art. I have completed assurance that it will be wonderful.

This was a pretty good idea, or would have been if it had been on the snes. A better idea would have beena RPG. But none the less still pretty good. As far as fighters go this was FAR too easy. The game lets you pick from abought 3 game modes and 4 or 5 characters to start with with is a very small starting ammount. Most of the Characters have to be unlocked which is a pain. I mean I'm not aginst unlocking characters but it was a good idea with Gundam Battle assault and its 32 unlockable characters. But with "InuYasha:A Feudal Fairy Tale" and its very limited selection it makes unlocking an royal pain, unrewarding, and a waste of time. Along with characters you can unlock a sound track, photo album, and voice options. This game was probably targeted at girls. I have nothing aginst that but still. Wrong group of gamers, wrong type of game, and too little too late. On the bright side. The controls are pretty smooth and the game flows well. The sound track will make you feel as if you're in Feudal Japan. The story line is rather rich for a fighter. But most of all you'll notice the Japanese Voices and sub titles for a translation, this is a nice enough feature. I think it would have been better if they dubbed it because Richard Ian Cox has a lot less of a whimpy Naisly voice then Kappei Yamaguchi... So for the flaws and over ease of the game I give it. 3 out of 5 stars...
