Great Fun

This game is all about battles, and the battles are a blast. The RPG elements and story are simple yet fun. They don't require a lot of time and energy but can add a lot to the strategy if you want. If you're looking for a deep RPG this isn't for you. But if you want to play around with a ton of different weapons/parts/arenas and test your skills online real-time Custom Robo can't be beat. These battles are not turn-based, so Pokemon fans may be dissappointed but if you want fast paced action you're in for a treat. Custom Robo's battles are intense and strategy is key. He/She with the fastest reflexes will not always win, which is great for me because I'm coming up on 30. They story is a little childish but leads you well into a lot of battles, which is what you want anyway. Being a parent, I like this title because the violence is restrained to Robots battling, no people die.

Take it from a +20 year gaming vet, you will have great fun with Custom Robo.

Super Fun game with no blood!!

I bought this game because it reminds me the game I used to play in an arcade and it's a right choice i made. I'm not a big fan of RPG game I mean I can go on with some little RPG but when it comes to fighting I'd love to do it myself not only choose a technique and lets the cpu do the fighting.

With this game it's really satified me because it's a RPG base so you will walk around to talk with people to do the task or to progress to another quest but when you have to fight you will be the one who do it.

Another fun thing in this game is you can buy a part and build your own unique robot and you can also test drive the part before purchasing it. It's very fun for me to test drive the part to see which one would work well for me. I spent like almost an hour at the first time i played this game on testing the part in the shop.

One more cute thing I like about this game is you have a very good family and friend who always support and cheer you up. Everyday in the morning (before you go to school in the game) and at night (after you finish the quest), you have to sit in the dinning room and talk to your family and they will give you some compliments, ask about your day and show how much they care about you.

This is not a super difficult game at all that you need to spend lots of time to figure it out but you still need to have a good strategy to win against each robot since they all have their own unique style of fighting.

so, this game is an RPG that you will walk around to do the quest but when it comes to fight you will do it own your own. No blood, No killing and no bad word. Awesome!

Robo bashing fun with an RPG undertone

As far as gameplay goes the robo battles are a blast, controls are precise (depending on your bot) and the graphics are some of the better on the DS yet. The game goes into molasses mode though when as a kid ala The Pokemon games you wander around school, your town etc.. this is where you start battles get parts for your bot etc... It is a cool RPGish system once you get into, but the kiddy feeling is inescapable. Cool game just slows way down when you aren't battling.
Recommended for customization, robo fans with a high tolerance for dialogue and map wandering.

Like a mini Armored Core

This game is like a miniature version of Armored Core except with some cutesy Japanese quirks thrown in. The "RPG" element of the game isn't for everyone; but I found it to be cute. The meat of the game is in customizing and battling robos. Since this is a handheld game you really can't expect Armored Core type customization or battles. But it's pretty darn fun anyways. There are a ton of unique weapons and different strategies. For example, should you go for weapons with good homing abilites but slow rates of fire? Or fast weapons that just shoot straight? What weapons and strategies will your opponents use?

I haven't tried the wi-fi option or the wireless pvp option yet. I'm sure playing against a human opponent would be pretty intense. Those features should also give this game a longer life-span. I definitely think Custom Robo Arena is worth a try for anyone who likes mech games.

A great game, minus the story

The game itself plays beautifully on the DS. I've also played Custom Robo which was released on the Gamecube, and minus the minor graphics downgrade (seeing the DS isn't quite as powerful as the 'Cube) it ran just as fast. The only thing that I had to get used to was the childish story elements, that and some of the nearly impossible fights as the game progressed. But other than that, great fighting game, and it even includes WiFi. Definitely reccomend this game!

This game rocks!

The story is brilliant and the Wi-Fi is perfect! The voice chat with friends is amazing! The variety of parts and things you can buy are great. I really loved this game... Oh by the way this isn't a kids review... I started an account and it said I needed to wait 24 hours of buying something to write a review. So thats why. This game is awesome

Great game, slightly on the short side.

The fighting was great, story was a bit short. Kinda reminds me of the old Gundam games back on the Japanese Super Nes days. You customize the robots, earn $, and actually fight it out in a action battle.

Wish the story was a bit longer, kinda wanted more after the main story finished so abruptly.

Just needs a little more...

I really want to like this game more, but there just not enough to go on. The battles are fun--in fact, this is sort of what I wanted the MegaMan Battle Network GBA to be like, rather than turn-based clunkers--but they're incredibly repetitive and don't seem to get much more challenging over time. The RPG aspect of it is tedious, slow moving, lacking in rewards for time investment and doesn't add much to the game play at all.

good not amazing

This game is fun but not great. First of all the combat is freakin amazing. But the story is repetative you wake up eat breakfast go to school and do whatever task afterward. Fortunatly the combat is good controls are simple and to the point no time limit or power to worry about. The costomation is nice not as complicated as armored core but not simple ether. Story mode is fairly easy so far ive only fought 4 hard battles. There isnt very much RPG elements in it basicly you just buy new parts theres also a commander level but it doesent really effect you much. Overall this game is a nice fun portable time waster.

Solid 4/5 title worth trying

Just like the other reviewers, my son enjoyed this game a lot, but it doesn't have the long-term oomph of other top-rated titles. For the price, this is a good value and most kids will enjoy it, including the multiplay, but eventually grow tired of it and resell it for something else. My son (9) liked it quite a bit, so give it a try.
