One of the best games in history, that's all I can say!

This game rocks! You get to use a lightsaber throughout most of it, for cryin' out loud! The graphics could have been better, but were still really good, and the sound was SUPERB! Just as good as the movie's, if not better! There are some drawbacks to the game, as there are a few INCREDIBLY difficult situations, such as protecting an unarmed Queen Amidala from a division of battle droids and destroyer droids, or fighting the lighting-fast, super-strong, box-throwin', block-almost-every-attack-you-make Darth Maul, and the jumping games from h-e double toothpicks. Finally, this game is really fun at most parts and very challenging. Take the challenge the right way, and you'll build your self-esteem! Also, unlike some, I think its really cool the Jedi get to use blasters and rocket launchers, for sometimes no other weapon will suffice. It's nice to be able to blow away Lord Maul with a proton missile rather than fighting him man-to-alien. Plus, without the blasters and rocket launchers, how would you kill destroyer droids? Like some fans say, though, the game could be better. Some ideas: Have the Jedi be able to employ karate-like kicks, when wanted, like that split-kick Obi-Wan did in the movie. Have lightsabers be more powerful, enabling them to fell enemies more quickly and hack through locked doors. Have Queen Amidala be able to do gymnastic-esque flips and handsprings. Remember how she said she was trained in defense? (i.e., martial arts) Thus, I think she could do that kind of stuff. Have more Force abilties availible to the Jedi, like a Force-pull, and healing. Plus blindness and deafness persuation (Like those in "Dark Forces II") for non-droid enemies. Also, have them be able to throw seriusly damaging boxes and boulders like Maul gets to do. There. Hopefully Lucasarts will see that. Despite its drawbacks, I LOVE this game, and vehemently recommend it! It's filled with action, adventure and stays fairly true to the movie plot, making the story even better! Stop degreading this great game, my fellow reviwers. "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all". May the Force be with you all. P.S.: The heavy reapeating cannon in this game is super cool and my favorite part, probably.

Great Game

This was a fun game, if you like Star Wars or not. I enjoyed playing it a lot but some of the levels got confusing at times. Others were a bit difficult because there were so many droids. The Mos Espa level sounds easy but it's more difficult than you think. Just one tip: Don't kill the Jawas! If you kill one, they all start attacking you. Overall this was a great game, I just rented it but I'm thinking of buying it.

Where i live this game has been heavily criticised for being unoriginal and not very replayable. These are both fair criticisms as it is very much like games such as Tomb Raider and so on. It admittedly does not have a particularly good replay value except for finding the many secrets. However, i am an unusual gamer in that i do not care about either of these things. It seems that no matter what game it is, there are very few that i would return to. Also i have a policy of rarely purchasing games that are to similar, with a few exeeptions such has any Zelda game, Platformers and PokéMon Gold. The point is that as a choice for your one Action/Adventure title, The Phantom Menace makes a pretty good case.

Technically it is not outstanding, with decent graphics and some neat effects(you will need a fairly powerful PC to prevent slowdown.). The sound and music is very good however and all the familiar music from the film is included. It must be pointed out that TPM has excellent ambeint sounds, such as wildlife squaking and people talking. The secrets in the game are quite plentiful with maybe 4-5 hidden items on each of the 11 levels maybe less, maybe more. A major complaint directed towards TPM is its dodgy control system, the keys are redifinable however, so this should not be a problem.

GRAPHICS: 73% Jagged graphics and slowdown are made up for through the use of neat effects. Mmmm... Burn marks

SOUND: 92% Terrific music, sound effects and ambient noises.

Mmmm... Duel of Fates

GAMEPLAY: 78% Seen a million times gameplay, but i like it. Mmmm... Dozens of hidden items.

SOMETHING OR OTHER: 56% Really lacking in this department. Gets most of it for being Star Wars. Mmmm... Star Wars.

OVERALL: 71% A few problems. But i reccomend it over Tomb Raider. Mmmm... Mediocre

Not the best Star Wars game, but makes the cut.

I couldnt wait for this game. And I wasnt disappointed. It is a pretty good game, though it did have its bad points, such as: The top down view. One word: WHY? The ANNYOING platform portions of the game. Did anyone else get really really frustrated in Otah Gunga? I had a hard time beating Darth Maul. I ended up hidind behing that forcefild and shooting him in the head with the light repeating cannon. I actually liked the addition of Captain Panaka and Queen Amidala ( who in those queen escort levels is the most ANNOYING person on earth...er...Naboo)because it gave me a break from the somewhat invincibility of the Jedi. Overall, I did enjoy this game, and I recomment renting it first. They need to bring a good SW flyer like Rogue Squadron to the PSX.

Fun Game! 10 levels to pass, Be Obi-Wan, Qui Gon & Amadaila. Fighting Darth Maul is very difficult- Takes alot of time to beat the levels but can save whenever you want. I would reccommend it for ages 8 and above-not for beginners. Why I gave it 5 stars because its challenging, follows the movie, great music & graphics. Don't give up-last level is worth the effort- end has special scenes!

I got this game for christmas and i got really excited. it was really fun. I then got jedi power battles and then i thoght the game was hoorible. darth maul is too hard to beat in the last level. i just sat behind the force field and shot him with the repeating blaster. i found a nice cheat code and the game is a breeeze. i had the hardest time on ota gunga. i wanted to kill the gungans. over all, it needs some work. is it on ps2 yet? did any one want to kill amidala? the one problem is that it doesnt follow the movie whatsoever.

I bought this game for a friend of mine, who lives in Japan and has an American Playstation. After a few weeks, he sold it back to me for half cost. That pretty much says it all. If you've seen the movie, you know the game. There are relatively minor challanges, and once you've played it once, you never want to again. If you like Star Wars, there are a LOT better games out there that you can buy. This one's mediocre.

below jar jar binks is stupid.anyways I thought this was a fun game.the graphics arent that great for our time but whatever. I thought it was kinda hard though.endless trying to make jumps, mazes and trying to avoid getting blown up by tanks, getting eaten by fish, missing elevators and falling to your doom, tring to protect people and they get killed, following anakin through mos espa, trying to make deals with people and getting scammed.if your child is under 8, do not buy this for him he will just get frustrated even with the first level.

The game is a pain

The game is challenging which is good thing, but the graphics are kind of weak compared to other games. Another good thing about this game is that you get to interact with other characters in the game which is neat. A disadvantage of the game is if you get stuck in certain places it is hard to get out of and very annoying too.
