25 to Life on my shelf

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 5 / 17

25 to Life is one of the few games I actually liked. I spent a good four hours playing it this morning (D*mmit, I spend that time a week or so on a game!) It was interesting to play as a cop or a gangster (Not a huge fan of the law in real life) so I had fun playing both for the heck of it.

It's no GTA, but it's pretty solid, though the story isn't too hot in my opinion. Controls are a dream to me, but it depends on how you like them, combat is kind of dull, uninteresting, but I'm interested in the story even though it doesn't appeal to me, it's average for me, but I'll leave the gameplay to you, happy gaming!

Parents, this game scores points for shooting cops and more points if you grab an innocent person off the street and use them as a human shield.

BAD GAME FOR CHILDREN!!!!

Help Protect our Children and our Officers: Ban Eidos' "25 to Life"©

Our goal is 50,000 signatures.
We now have 72,909. We met our original goal of 17,500 in less than two weeks... and now we've surpassed 50,000! We're not done yet!

In response to a notice from game manufacturer Eidos, that the "25 to Life"© video game was being shipped to U.S. markets beginning January 17, the NLEOMF is mounting a vigorous campaign to discourage parents and caregivers from purchasing or allowing children access to the violent video game. We are gravely alarmed by the violent nature of this game and believe that any type of media that glorifies violence against law enforcement or civilians should be carefully scrutinized.

The "25 to Life"© video game allows players the option to role-play by shooting gang members and police officers and using innocent bystanders as human shields. The Web site advertising the game boasts that players have "more than 40 weapons to choose from, including shotguns, machine guns, stun guns and tear gas."

Due to the disturbing nature of the game, last fall high-profile law makers and citizens protested its release, which the NLEOMF believes helped to delay its entry into the U.S. market. Although the manufacturers have chosen to release the game this year, YOU can help limit its access to the young minds that this game will be promoted to.

The NLEOMF aims to collect 17,500 signatures, in support of a petition to take the game out of U.S. stores. This figure represents approximately the number of officers whose names are permanently inscribed on the Walls of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial, and symbolizes the grave consequences of violent behavior toward officers.

Our culture is saturated with violent images in all types of media, but games like "25 to Life"© are especially dangerous because they're driven by the thrill of the kill. The images are wrong. The messages are wrong. And stocking it in U.S. stores is wrong. Do your part in keeping our children and our officers safe; sign the petition today.

Petition:

I support the ban of Eidos' "25 to Life©," believing that its violent nature represents a threat to our children and our law enforcement officers. I petition to have the game removed from the U.S. market.

25 to Life is fun for the whole Manson Family

25 to Life is definitely not for the weak. Graphic images and Language make the game a lot of fun for the mature player. The game's first level or 2 are a bit slow but once you get into it it's a lot of fun. The people that are yelling and trying to ban this game have no idea what they are talking about and have probably never seen or played the game. Most of the game I played I was actually a cop for most of the game killing and arresting drug dealers, and when you are a thug the premise is that you are trying to get out of the "gangsta life" or "The Game". After playing for a few hours I did not feel the need or think it was ok to go out and kill anyone especially the police. If anything I felt like I should go outside since I hadn't seen the sun in 6 hours and to use the new street slang I learned on 25 to Life.

It's So/So Defiinitely Does NOT Live Up to The Hype

First off, all the people that have tried to ban this game, and others like it, without even seeing it, or playing it, this is just an example of how ignorant you are. You base your actions upon what you hear and read about a product, without ever bothering to try the actual prodcut. Shame on you. And, all you're doing, in the end, is generating more sales for bad games, if they are bad. The best way to stop bad products is no one buy them!

Now, with the rant out of the way, on to the game review--it's not that great. Many of us "GTA Type Game" fans waited more than two years for this, being led to believe it would be similar, that is, "open ended" with a variety of things to do and freedom to explore a virtual world. Would you escape the ghetto and get revenge on your family's killers are "Freeze," or clean up the city and save lives as a cop?

The actual game is nothing more than a linear first person shooter where you have to kill several enemies per level before they kill you. The AI is horrible. You have no choices. You can't drive anywhere. You have to hit enemies like 5 headshots to kill them; usually before you can do that youre dead (because even from a mile away they can hit you with accuracy). it sucks. Don't waste your money.

The best game in my opionion so far is Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. For those of you who whine about how "Bad and violent" it is, that part is up to the player. If you want, you can stay in Los Santos for months, not kill a single person, and make millions of dollars betting at the OTB and driving the taxi, buying all the safehouses, working out at the gym, etc. And not kill one person, if you don't want to. So, I say again, try products for yourself before you try to ban them. it's part of being a grown up. But you'll never undertand. Peace

so so grafix

It's nothing phenomenal.
We have seen these types of games come and go for years.
The multiplayer aspect is neat - you can just kind of hang out in a virtual hood w/ the homies and all that. What bugs me is the maps are toooo small!!!!

A quick message to the concerned parents out there.
Do you find that you have to convince yourself you are smarter than the public pretty often?
Does technology confuse you and drive you to call tech support?
Do you believe in legislating morality?
If you mentioned yes - then you are an idiot.
That's right. The sheltered life and naive philosophies have left you intellectually stunted.
Please stop trying to enforce your political views on the world!
You are being taken advantage of by rabble rousers - because you are rabble....The angry mob. The people who killed frankenstien and jesus. You must realize you are not educated and not worldly.
Thanks for repeatedly burying emerging technology and starting wars based on your beliefs, burning witches for the sake of the children and basically being anti-social wierdos who think videos, music, games and art damage the fabric of society more than your aggressive hate campaigns.
thank you.
