Mission design and control disappoint

3 Rating: 3, Useful: 15 / 16

I wish I owned a software company so I could make a good flight sim for the PS2. Sorry to say it has yet to be done.

Graphics: Very nice, not as photo realistic as Ace Combat 4 but very good. Plane models look great. The backgrounds don't have as real of a look as AC4 but get the job done.

Sound: Engine and missile sounds get the job done. The wingmen are barely understandable but you have subtitles so you can figure it out.

Gameplay: This game just isn't for me.

What I like:

-Ordnance is customizable and loads on actual hardpoints. Missiles get fired from the hardpoints and get used up. You don't have 70 missiles like AC4 that magically reload on the wings. Fuel gets used up. You can even load a drop tank if you like.
-Wingman: Up to 3 wingman that can be setup before the missions to either cover you, attack aircraft, ground targets, or all. They actually help. Not a lot, but they help.
-Save replays. Up to 20 slots are set aside for replays. Sweet.
-Throttle: You actually have a throttle to set from 0 to 100% thrust.

What I don't like:
-Control. The plane is always nose-heavy and constantly needs to be pulled back on to keep in a straight line. Let go of the stick and you'll soon kiss the ground. It's also sluggish. You just don't feel like you're in a modern high performance aircraft like you do in AC4. Oddly enough the replays do make you look like you're in a high performance aircraft. I'd like to fly it like it looks. The control setup is very similar to AC4. It's an easy transition between the two.
-Missions: The missions are silly and frustrating. Most targets take several missiles to destroy then unveil other targets that you need to hit at special angles in order to destroy. Boss fights in a flight sim!?!? I don't like it. I want strategy not unrealistic boss fights.

Overall: Not as good as AC4. Way better than Top Gun: Combat Zones. This game has a great game engine that was ruined with silly mission design and sluggish flight control. This is not a flight sim. Consoles have yet to be blessed with a good flight sim. Rent first to see if it's for you.

Fighting The Lethal Skies is excellent

This game is excellent, I have Ace Combat 4 and I got bored quickly. Now I have Lethal skies and I cannot stop playing it. Smooth realistic graphics, realistic controls and cockpit settings, and 18 challenging missions.

Words can't even describe how bad this game sucks.

Obviously, being a console game, this shouldn't be expected to be a 'flight simulator'. Anyone wanting ultra-realistic flight simulator will be playing "Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004", "X-Pilot", "Falcon 4.0" etc on the PC.

Being a console game, however, it SHOULD be a fun "arcady" game. This game is not. The graphics are horrible, the controls are horrible, the menu interfaces are archaic, and the storyline is a blatant copy of a MUCH better console flight arcade: "Ace Combat 04".

If you want a fun arcady flight game, get "Ace Combat 04". The graphics are "Gran Turismo" realistic, the story-line is entertaining, and controls are solid.

This game is realistic and goes beyond your imagination, and the grapics are almost better than Ace Combat 4. One thing that i love most about this game is the planes. You get to fly a F-22 Raptor, What more can you want! You can even fly the plane without doing anything really special in Solo mode, well you have to pass a amount of levels until you actully get your hands on that beautiful plane... Anyways to the point.. This game will meet any real person whos into flying military planes.

Sound- Excellent 5/5

Graphics- 5/5

Realistic- 5/5

Overall great game- 5/5

Total - 20/20 = 100%

This game is the game of the year when it comes to airforce jets. The AI ( Artifical Intellegence) is also unbelievable. The control shakes in your hand when you make sudden movements to make you feel how poerful G-Force can be(Gravitational Force). Well im off to play some more, remember to get this game!

Not so bad.The graphics are good , but the dogfighting is stupid. It takes 1 shot just to kill a jet.it should be harder. But overall, its a pretty good game.Recemmend Ace Combat 04.

Acutally this game wasnt so bad, frustrating at times, but still not bad. Just get AC4 and spare yourself a headache.

And uh, excuse me Mr. 11-year old, but most modern air-to-air weapons today are capable of destroying an airplane in one shot, as reflected in this game. Pilots rely on skill to evade these weapons, skills you quite obviously dont have.
