I was pumped when I bought this game at the store, but as soon as I popped it in, I was seriously disappointed. After playing a few matches with most of the characters, a friend and I started playing Soul Cal 2 again for XBox. The graphics are worse, the sounds/speech is worse, the movements are slower...I could go on forever, baby. I really want to know what Namco was thinking when they were making this. We were joking, but being serious, that if we had been told this game was for PSOne, we would believe them. Any advanced Soul Cal player should say that this game blows. If they had taken Soul Cal 2, and used the new characters, made a new Weapon Master, and used the new outfits, then I would actually be pleased with spending $50 on this game. Everyone, do yourself a favor and don't buy this game, and if you don't have Soul Calibur 2, get that instead.

utterly worthless, all talk and no walk, a total waste of $50

i totally agree with the person who said that this game is host to some of the worst AI in the history of video games.

great, the computer knows how to use the same move 9 times in one round, wonderful. don't bother trying to get past their blocking, don't even think about using a throw move, because it'll get reversed, you'll get knocked onto the ground and then you're attacked 6-7 times before you can even move. but hey, maybe you'll get them down to half health, or maybe within one hit of a victory, but since they have a hard-on for blocking and whatever it's called when they throw your move off, you're not going to win.

when are video game creators, namely Namco who is notorious for this, going to learn that just because 2 characters have a related story doesn't mean they need to have nearly the exact same moves.

what happened to the good old days of street fighter 2, when fighting games were actually worth a damn? well, nowadays it's all about graphics, all looks and no heart, that's exactly what SC III is. i like the second Soul Calibur, but this one is just a joke of a fighting game.

ALMOST as bad as the last Virtua Fighter game, i think i'm just going to sell all my video games.

This game sucks Ass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One word horrible. You can't win! It's almost impossible to exexute a move without getting your [back] kicked! I stongly suggest that you do not buy this game. Go with prince of persia the two thrones instead. Now THAT'S a good game.

Soul Caliber 3 is only available for PlayStation. My sons and I loved Soul Caliber 2 and we were eager to buy the new game, but it was not meant to be. I own two games systems, X-Box and Game Cube, and that's enough. I guess if Sony and Namco don't want the business from two thirds of their customers, then that's their decision. Good luck with that.

I also know that I'll never buy another computer, television, camera, or anything else made by Sony, or any games made by Namco.

Feels like a 6 year old game !!!

I would agree with anybody that the 1999 Soul Calibur on Dreamcast was a Masterpiece. I really loved that game. But that was 6 years ago!

There is nothing new about Soul Cabibur 3. It's just the same old stuff that you had already played for hundreds of hours years ago.

There are a few new moves and combos, but the new moves just turn the game into a "Button Masher". Which means you can easily beat the game by rapidly mashing the attack button. The previous games made you think a little about your strategy, but now there is NO strategy or real skill involved.

Plus it's on Playstation, so you know what type of graphics your getting (the worst graphics out of the 3 systems).

This is the worst fighting game ever!!! It doesn't stand up to Tekken 5. It shakes, shivers, and wets its pants at the thought of Tekken 5. If you want a great fighter go out and get Tekken 5. It doesn't even stand up to Tekken Tag Tournament!!!

No amount of "skill" makes this game playable

SC3 is one of the most frustrating games I've ever seen in my life! The difficulty is INSANE!! I've had easier (and far more enjoyable) experiences with Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts and Contra! Chronicles of the Sword (very original name I might add) is flawed, way too hard, and sooooo boring. The best strategy is actually to just lose, over and over! You'll actually get MORE experience points by losing! All you get for winning a campaign is about 50,000 gold, and that MIGHT just by 3 or 4 items. And with hundreds of things to buy, you're going to be unlocking stuff until 2015. That really stinks because the AI is so cheesy and the game is so difficult that you won't want to play it more than 2-3 days at the most. Most battles go like this: Round 1, AI destroys you in under 5 seconds without even allowing you a chance to move. Round 2, you frantically mash square, square, square, square, square and win in 10 seconds without getting hit. Round 3, you try to play for real this time, but alas, you lose, because it seems the point is to just mash square if you want to win... So, if you want to get any enjoyment out of SC3, just mash square repeatedly and watch the pretty colors on the screen. Atleast I guess that's what you're supposed to do, because the AI will not give you time to do any real moves... It only gets 2 stars because of the ability to create-a-fighter. Only problem is I don't want to spend 15+ years unlocking everything just to make a decent looking character. Plus you can't even use the characters you make in anything other than the extremely crappy "quick play" and the impossible Chronicles of the Sword.

The squel that didn't meet its hype.

As much as I love the soul calibur series, I have to say this was a disappiontment compared with SC2. First of all, the exculsion of "Weapons Master" and replacing it with a horrible RPG like single-player mode was a bad move. In fact, I didn't like any of the new modes. "Chronicles of the Sword" was tragically flawed because there's really no solid storyline and NO STRATEGY what-so-ever. It's pretty much run, capture the enemy fort and dont die. The AI is unreal sometimes in battle and the mode pits you against oh lets say, since you're a level 14....we'll have you fight a level 60. Great. Have fun with that. I find myself button mashing to stay alive. The other new modes are pretty useless also unless you want to unlock the billion things there are in this game. Character creation was cool at first but without online play, there's no piont in making characters.
On the positive side, I loved the battle arenas and the new characters and outfits. Soul Calibur never fails to impress me with their unique style, characters, and fighting styles. I loved playing with Tira.
Alas, the bad out weighs the good. Clunky controls, a command list that doesnt even show you the move you are trying to make, and poor single-player additions make this game a rent, not a buy. If you have the game....sell it and go buy Resident Evil 4. If you don't, go buy Soul Calibur 2.

Huge disappointment

Soul Calibur, and its sequel were two of the best fighting games to come out this generation, but they took a leap backwards releasing the 3rd.

Making a game that was pick up and play, then turning it into something that you have to memorize every move, and every counter move was a mistake.

I tried many times to give this a chance but after a week of just being angry when i play it, I figured I'd get rid of it.

Beautiful graphically, but everything else is a thumbs down for me.
