The Series REAL Jumping Off Point

I've been a fan of this franchise for 18 years now, which is the first time I decided to rent MM2 from the local video store already having been out for at least a year at that point. Little did I know, I was about to play a game in a series that would keep me engrossed for years to come.

In case you are not familiar, the premise of MM is to defeat enemy "Robot Masters" and gain their powers to defeat yet other robot masters (RM), since every RM has a vulnerability to another RM's weapon: an ingenious concept. This is the first title in the series to feature 8 RM's (MM1 has only 6). Also, if you are looking for a game in which you can set or beat high scores, this is not the game for you since there isn't a score keeper (MM1 does have a score tally though).

This game almost didn't happen because Capcom actually did not feel that MM1 was successful enough to warrant a sequel: it was Keiji Inafune, the series producer, that persuaded management to allow him to pursue the development of this game and only on his time. The rest of the gaming universe is thankful for that! The MM series is notable for it's extremely memorable and outstanding music and gameplay as well as great graphics (during that time of course). Many credit the immense success of the series to this particular title and rightfully so. If you haven't played it and you own one of the 5th generation consoles, do yourself a favor and pick up MM Anniversary Collection (that is, if you don't have an NES). If you have an NES, the good news is that this title is in abundance. Pick it up.

The Blue Bomber is now a legend!

The first Mega Man game was one of the first games of its tipe. But now with more weapons and robot masters, more Wily stages,a soundtrack increased 2,000 fold-we have the perfect Mega Man game! No other Mega Man game has yet to match its greatness besides Mega Man 3! This game will make you want to foil Dr. Wily's plans over and over again! If you have an NES...this is a great classic to add to your collection! Or you can at least find it on Wii's Virtual Console eventually,or you can get the Mega Man Aniverssary Collection which has Mega Man 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,and 8. If you liked other games of the series or ofits tipe, you should get this game!

One of the Best NES Games ever

As the title describes this is one of the best NES games ever. This particular title include colorful graphics, simple controls, and incredible music. Plus a hell of a plot.
As the title implies you are Mega Man, a cyborg built to stop Dr. Wiley and his evil plans. You ahve to face 8 robot bosses in no particular order (although it can help if you know the weakness)and then go off and face Wiley in his Castle.
This game doesn't lack much, the dificulty is a little much and the level designs are amazing (for the time and system).
However the thing that seperates this title is the music, the music is one of the best ever, on all game systems. It fits perfectly.
Buy this game.

I remember when I first played this game. It was one of the first games that I could REALLY get in to. I played this game for so long... I still own it as a matter of fact. If you are a fan of the rest of the Mega Man Series then you must play this one. For me, this is the single best game. None of the other McMegaMan games can touch it.

The first great Mega Man game

This was the Mega Man game that brought passwords, eight robot leaders, energy tanks, specialty items, and several other now common aspects into the series. The play control is simple, but excellent. Graphics are nothing by today's standards, but back then were top of the line. And besides there's more to a game than that. Being able to tackle the stages in an order of your choosing is a convenience, but also forces you to take strategy into account. The game difficulty isn't terrible (though Dr. Wily's fortress is a pain the first few times), meaning most gamers shouldn't have much trouble beating it. If you have an NES this is a game you should not be without.

Definately the Most required Mega Man of the series

Mega Man II was a truly needed installment of this 10 year great. Obviously, something must be right because everyone loved Mega Man. It played very simple but it was still like no other NES game at it's time.

It added more challenge, longer boards with new enemies and new items and the bosses were NO push overs. Mega Man II had it all and it became a platform for the series and for other Action/Adventure type games.

In many ways, a lot of games out there still show derivitives of the Mega Man series and for good reason. It's one of the longest running and most successful series that was on Nintendo and then SNES and now the PS (hopefully someday on the PS2).

This is a definate for any of you retro collectors. seriously, no retro collection is complete without Mega Man II. No other game will challenge, make you think strategy and kick more butt than this. Get it or regret it!

Isn't it great?

Megaman II- one of my favorite Megaman games.
This game is a bit like megamanI, but with many improvments.
You can call in Rush, Beat, and Bass's cat. BIG improvment!
A new charecter,Duo,has been added, but I don't think he's with megaman standerds. Health is SO much better, and the bots you fight are(in my opinion) better.
While Protoman's music isn't as nice as in mmI, the tune remained the same.
Also, the "extra attacks" are a nice touch.
With happy music that makes you smile, great charecters, and cool movies, this game really is a classic.

Here's where Mega Man gained popularity

While the first Mega Man adventure is a classic in every way, it was still a concept game and was very hard due to the lack of energy tanks and so forth. Mega Man 2, however, proved to be the true beginning for the blue bomber.

In this game you get energy tanks and the "Item" weapons, which were very similar to Rush. I love how this game connected with the first one, and it's a shame that the games stopped connecting with each other after Mega Man 4. The music and sounds are more fine-tuned here and this game is much easier. I heartily recommend this one to the first-time player of the series. The original is good but it's very hard (see my review for that one). If you find it somewhere, GET IT. You won't regret it.

Megaman 2 was one of the first NES-games I played through when I was about eight-year-old boy. I was so excited and fascinated about this game's graffics, enemies, sounds and challange. Many of my classmates liked also to play Megaman 2. Let's tell you something about this classic game. Doctor Willy has built eight evil robots who are protecting Willy's kingdom. Megaman is a cyborg boy who has to destroy these robots and finally beat Willy himself. Megaman gonna save the world! There are many interesting levels in this game. Quickman's stage is full of cutting sawblades. When you are in Airman's world, you have to be careful because ligning could strike you! Heatman's level is very hot and you'll burn in lava, if you jump over the bricks. Ok! You have destroyded all the eight robots! Now you will go to Willy's world. The great skull was very scare when I was a little boy... You'll meet dragons, killing machines, crashing creatures, flying strangers and so on Finally, you see eye to eye evil doctor. Give him a good reason to kneel down and pay mercy for you! Shoot him down! When you have survived robot phase, it's time to meet Alien Doctor Willy. Use bubblegun and you are soon in the winner team. Congratulations! You have save the world today! Not bad at all! This is your game if you like stage jumping, shooting to robots, great advanture and absolutely irritating music.
