YES! The fun is back!!

I am having sooooo much fun with this game! I haven't had this much fun with a video football game since.... well, NFL 2k5. This actually even makes me more angry at Madden. I spent $120.00 on Madden 06 and Madden 07 for the xbox 360 and have never had such a dull football experience. I had just stopped playing video football all together and sold both Maddens.

Now, 2k football is back! It has never looked so good either. The stadiums are wonderful. The players and animations are excellent. It's so good to hear these commentators back too. The game plays just as smooth as it ever did before they lost the license to Madden.

The new teams are really cool to use and it is really cool to be able to change their uniforms to anything you want. It's also great to hear the announcers actually say the all-pros names instead of their number. I love playing with Johnny Unitas and Ken Stabler and hear the broadcasters use their names when talking about them. This game is soooo much better than anything EA puts out, even without the full complete NFL license. It's all about how fun the game is and this one has got it!

Not Quite Next Gen But A Good Effort

I am a huge 2K football fan. I played all of their games since the initial 2K release on the Dreamcast. When EA took the license, I was crushed. I was basically forced to play Madden but opted for the PC version (where I can at least save a game in progress.)

When I heard 2K8 was going to come back without the license, I got pretty excited. So, I purchased an XBOX 360 just to get this game.

So, I came home with my copy of All Pro Football 2K8, popped it in and got to a game. Initially, I was like "This is Next Gen?" I was a little upset that this is what I waited and paid $60.00 for. (I actually picked up a cheap copy of Madden 07 and played it for a while.)

But as time passed, I kept getting more and more curious about the game and started to play out the lackluster but functional season mode. I started to become more impressed with the animations and the presentation of the game.

Then I headed online..despite a problem where someone disconnected instead of quitting fairly, I am loving on-line play. You get a more competitive game and I've had some real close ones. I am interested in the leagues but it doesn't look like they are getting off the ground well (no one has generated their schedules yet.)

The presentation is great as always. Despite the commentary being 80% recycled from 2K5, this is still miles ahead of any other sports game out there. The halftime and postgame shows are back too.

As a whole, this is not the great "next gen" football we've been looking for and a lot of it seems like 2K5 repackaged and stripped of ESPN. But, given the realistic game play (QB's feet need to be set, etc) and good animation and presentation, this one beats out Madden 08 this year and when they get the NFL back...look out!

The gameplay is simply fantastic. This game requires you to approach it with real-life football tactics. You can set 3 plays as audibles for each formation, unlike EA's next gen offerings. The lacking of franchise mode in single player is a bummer.

2K Football Returns

If you were a fan of the old NFL 2K series that Sega/VC put out, then you'll love the gameplay in this game. Not a whole lot has changed from the old iterations, but there are some great animations. The kicking game leaves a little to be desired.

I waited for the price to come down on this game before I bought it. The primary reason is the lack of a franchise or GM mode. The game is fun, but, if they make a version next year, I hope they add full fictional character options and a a much-needed franchise mode.

I do not see why there are people knocking this game. Why people are saying the graphics are not good. I think they are AMAZING. I have an HD TV and I am viewing them on there and I love the graphics. I have been one who has played the EA versions of football, both NCAA and Madden. I love EA football, BUT, after playing this, I must commend 2k for making a relistic football game. I have not played Madden 08 yet, but from what I have played, since 2000 with Madden, was really no change in graphics or gameplay. Players walking through each other, getting called for stupid penalties, players making unrelistic moves. I loved NCAA football this year, BUT I missed the classic teams, AND also, it is pretty cheezy to leave refs out of the game. If you want realistic gameplay, leaving out refs is not the way to go there.

I felt the realism in 2K was amazing. I did not get the chance to play 2k5, and I know so many felt that was the better football game. And it is probably why EA was granted the NFL license because the NFL could not handle anyone else being better than those they were contracted with. Do I care that there are different non NFL teams???? No. Actually, the NFL is starting to suck big time and I have turned my back so much in wanting to support it. I would love to have a game that has a whole new league. I think 2K should make a USFL game. THAT would be so awesome. There are some USFL fans out there, and it would be a big hit.

I think too many people out there are just spoiled by the greedy NFL and cant appreciate anything less than that. If you cant appreciate the gameplay and the graphics of this game, then you cant appreciate the quality of any game. If this game is so much like NFL 2K5, and people felt that was the best game ever, why cry over how this game is similar to it?? Wouldnt you WANT the game to be similar to what they had before?? If it were different, then THAT would be a disppointment right?? I commend them on keeping the features in the games that people obviously enjoyed. Granted, it would be cool if they made some changes, like adding a franchise mode, giving you more teams to choose from, more legend players, and giving you more options to create uniforms and stadiums.

Give 2k credit. People complaining left and right, is not going to make these people come out with another game and improve anything. It will just make them give you whiners the big finger, and you will all lose out and end up with the same repetitve EA games that have not changed since they were created. I say, be thankful with this game, and appreciate it for what it is. A fantastically fun game, that does not consist of the NFL greed that has plagued sports so greatly today.

I say Kudos to 2K sports for coming out with a NON NFL game. Gives those who are tired of the NFL greed something to enjoy for once without seeing the ruined league gain more money to fix more games for classless cheating teams and players. I enjoyed this game. It was mega fun, and very much worth the money. I would rather put money in the pockets of retired NFL veterans, than the current overpaid cry babies who have no clue what the game is about, and what it means.

There's a reason this game is $9.00

I was looking forward to this game, but after a week of playing APF 2K8, I sold it and I'm having more fun playing ESPN NFL 2K5 on my XBOX 360. I think the concept of APF was great but the execution was sub-par, especially for game designers that turn out some of the best titles in the industry. The controller response was sluggish, the graphics were NOT next-gen, and my overall impression was that it was rushed. If the developers want to compete with EA once their NFL contract runs out, then they would have been better off taking much more time to release the best possible game. APF started at $60.00 and now you can pick it up for less than $10.00 - nuff said.

Great game. Much better than madden. Much more realistic. Kicking is bad though. If they could change the kicking, it would be a perfect game.

Thank your Lucky Stars 2K is back

Madden has been hit or miss for me over the years, and this years version was supposed to be so much better than the past 2 360 versions. And being a huge Jets fan was dying to play with the current roster. But unfortunately, while the franchise mode is Excellent, the online sorely lacking and most important, the Actual Gameplay is Not very good. Won't get into more details regarding that since this is a review for 2k8. As far as 2k8 is concerned, while the season mode is lacking, the online mode is light years ahead of madden with its smooth play and online leagues and tournaments. And the actual gameplay itself is Realistic !!!!!
If you like kiddie gameplay, go pick up Madden. If you want serious Sim gameplay and killer online play, even if it is with Legends (although you Can create any player you want and use them), pick up 2k8. And don't listen to the madden fanboys, of which there are Many !!

If You Enjoy Online Play, This Is Your Game...

+the graphics on this game are the BEST GRAPHICS i have ever seen for a video game, hands down. i love how Emotion was implimented in their faces when on the field, when they take hits, u see them brace for it and close their eyes and screw their faces when they fall, its truly a beautiful thing, iv never seen that in any football game, excellent job.
+the Running Game is Beautiful. linemen pick up their blocks and u can get to holes and jump outside if you need to, excellent job again.

-the passing game is good but the qb takes too long to throw the ball at times. even if its only a 25 yard pass, when u press the button to throw, the qb will step back one step..then take his time stepping up to throw...which usually results in you being sacked when you should have let the ball go 2 seconds ago anyway...
-NO OFFLINE REPLAY VALUE WHATSOEVER. there is a SEASON MODE...which is basically you playing through 16 games with the team you created...and once the season is over...you start a new season. you dont CONTINUE from the season you just ended...no handling contracts...no signing new players..nothing...just begin a new season. going into the year 2010, sports games need to offer alot more than that. even if they had COPIED THE FRANCHISE MODE FROM NFL 2K5, that would have made this game the BEST FOOTBALL GAME OUT!! but its just too thin.

if you like to play ONLINE...then you should definately pick this game up and go head to head with the tournaments, leagues and whatnot online. but if you like handling contracts...making trades...running a football franchise for years to come...stick with NFL2K5...which is still the best football game out. now that THIS only 30 bucks though, im thinking about trading some games in and purchasing a copy just for the sake of it...atleast the ball doesnt travel through a defenders hands like in madden 2008.

iLL .
