Prey-falls a little short

I thought Prey was a good game compared to most. It wasn't excellent or totally awesome or mind blowing. 90% of my judgement is based on overall experience of previous games. What kind of games do I like alot? I would give four or five stars to games like Doom 3, Resident Evil 4, Devil May Cry Series of games, Onimusha Warlords...Prey falls about 1 star shy. Graphics I give it a 4, story line I give it a 2, Detail in game play would get a 4, guns would get a 2 and enemies would get a 3. It definitely was a fun game to play, it was scarey at times, it wasn't an easy game but, it wasn't hard either. I would say the game creators worked hard at making a good game and that is what they did, a "good" job not a mindblowing job.

didn't do it at all for me...

i like shooters as much as the next guy, but this one was super-hyped and really didn't live up to it in my estimation. i rented this one and was very glad i did. i gave it about 4-6 hours then just lost interest and returned it. other than running on the ceilings it didn't really open any new doors and seemed a mostly average shooter.

What kills my suspension of disbelief..

The hero, gramps and Jen are Cherokee right? Why was the Ancestorial Dream World barren rock like found in parts of Arizona? OK, the tribe ended up in Oklahoma after the Trail of Tears, but their ancestors started in the South Carolina. Even when they were settled in Ok. the land did not become barren until the Dust bowl of 1930's!

I am very much reading too much into this, but WTF!

A game for working adult gamers!

I for one loved this game most of all because I was actually able to complete it even with the very little time I get to game with, so I ended up with a wholly satisfying experience.

The game itself could be a bit more difficult, and I found it's not really about the FPS action, rather than figuring out puzzles and where to go next. Having said that, none of the puzzles took longer than five minutes to figure out, so there's no need for a game guide.

My only real criticism is the voice acting of the bad guys. It's way overdone and they sound like some kind of amature actor doing Shakespeare in the Park or something.

The dialog for the main character contains a lot of expletives, but you know, I think I'd be swearing a lot too if I was in his situation.

Prey - A new take on an existing gaming style

Prey gives you some new ways to see the environment. The storyline could use a little less angst on the part of Tommy but the environment and action are great. I recommend it to anyone who is a fan of FPS.

Prey is the story about a Cherokee named Tommy. Okay, we all know that. The game is amazing, I actually found myself playing it for hours on end and over and over again. Now, one review states this game is nothing but a rehash of a couple of ID software games and the menacingly retarded HALO. OKay heres the scoop:
1) The creatures look nothing like HALO creatures.
2) The DOOM3 engine was used to make this game, which also made Quake4 which would explain why the humans look creepy.

I gave this game a five star rating because that was the limit. If I could have out of ten stars, it would have been a 9.9. COD2 is not and never will be the best on the 360.

just bought it and returning it now

Game was alright. I have been trying all the highly rated 360 games. I guess how quick I beat one is the best measure, that is, do I walk away and leave it or play well into the night. It was okay, not Halo, Gears, or Call of Duty. But they all have their drawbacks.

Linear FPS game, as always... with a twist

Native Americans can't seem to catch a break. First, the white man takes their land and moves them to dusty reservations, then aliens abduct them from those reservations and imprison them on a spaceship built from twisted metal and grotesque, pulsating flesh. At least, that's what happens to Tommy, along with his Cherokee grandfather and girlfriend, in Prey, a game that's been in development hell for many moons, but has proven well worth the wait.

The visuals are astonishing, and the story, which crosses tribal mysticism with sci-fi horror, will keep you guessing until the end. Creative level design allows you to switch gravity to the walls and ceiling, which will either have you giggling gleefully or wondering if there's an herbal, Native American equivalent of Dramamine.

Despite its innovations, Prey falls just short of greatness. As cool as it is to rip the legs off alien bugs and hurl the explosive insects at enemies, eventually the novelty wears off, and you realize they're still just grenades. And whether you're crawling down a corridor's walls or ceilings, it doesn't change the fact that it's just another first-person corridor crawl. But as Xbox 360 shooters go, you can't do much better.
