This game hasn't come out yet where I live, but I've been playing the computer game for close to 6 years now. I love it, and have high hopes that Creatures will be as fun and entertaining on Playstation as it is on the computer.

The game isn't a win or lose type of game, but a game where you try to raise little creatures, called norns. When the norns are old enough, they'll have kids of their own, and so goes the game. It's exciting to see what the babies will look like, what traits they got from mom and what traits they got from dad.

I'm not sure how they've made the world, but in the computer game there's a volcano island to explore and then the main piece of land. It's really fun teaching your norn or norns how to say things, and trying to get them to do what you want. It's also fun exploring the world, but it gets a little frustrating sometimes if you want your norn to go somewhere, but he/she doesn't want to go there. In the computer game you're a hand who can tickle the norn if he/she does something good, or give him/her a light slap if he/she does something bad. Or, if they know what the words mean, you can either say yes for good, or no for bad.

Naming the norns is also fun and I recommend naming by generation, for example the first generation would have names all starting with A, the second generation names starting with B, etc. There are some things you have to look out for, though, like poisonous plants, drowning in the oceans, or grendels. Grendels aren't too bad if you only pass by them, but they can start hitting your norn if you linger around one.

I have immensely enjoyed the computer game and hope to enjoy the Playstation game as much. Hope this review has helped you.

I highly enjoyed this game when it first came out - for PC and Mac - and spent endless hours fine-tuning my breeding programs, running 'wildling' sims, and generally enjoying the God-like scenario.
Unfortunately, Mindscape decided not to release another version for Macs, and therefore I purchased Creatures for Playstation to run on my Virtual Game Station.
It's still a good game, with all the charm of the original - my Norns bred within the first half-hour, so it's much faster than the computer version. However, the interface is much less attractive on PS - even granting the handicap of having to map PS controller buttons to a keyboard, it's clunky, slow, and ugly compared to the 'hand' you played in the computer versions.
Still worth a look and a couple of wasted afternoons.

Fun for girls!

I thought the game was great! it's a good game for girls, boys don't like cute things. so moms out there,if ur kids like poochis, giga pets or neopets( where they look after cute creatures) then they would love this! believe me, i'm a girl myself!

I've been playing Creatures 2 for the PC for several years now, and I love the game. I had high hopes for this game as sort of a different combination game with lots of different norn breeds and add-ons to start off with, but instead of an improved game (improved from the PC Creatures) it was simpler. I'll split the good aspects of this game from the bad below:
BAD POINTS:
There was a limit on how many norns you could have in each world (10, at the very least you could have made it 15, people!), less toys, and since you can't download add-ons from the internet to the PS1, like I did with the PC version, it was a LOT more limited there, too. You could teach norns how to speak in the PC versions of Creatures 1,2, and 3, and you can't in this playstation version of Creatures. Also, I didn't like playing as the fairy thing when taking care of my creatures in this game, I much prefered playing as the hand in Creatures for the PC.
GOOD POINTS:
The music in this game WAS pretty good, and it's nice to see original creatures from PC Creatures 1,2, and 3(each version had a different sort of style of creatures, and you could tell by just looking at them which version they were originally from) get together in one game. Also, there were some other good points, althrough the PC versions of Creatures 1,2, and three had most of them.

Overall I would recommend this to someone who doesn't have the PC versions of Creatures 1,2, and 3, or that doesn't have a computer or has a computer with low memory or other computer problems. Also, this is better for younger kids than the PC versions of Creatures, since the computer versions are more realistic in various ways.

I don't know...

I don't own this game, but as this is a PlayStation game, it won't have any addons made by fans of the game, and after reading those other reviews, I believe that this sucks.
I own the Creatures, Creatures2, Creatures3 and Creatures Adventures for PC, and they were the best games ever. But I just couldn't stand a creatures game without:
a) ettins
b) addons

So I say, only 2 stars.
If you're going to buy this, I recommend to buy one of the PC creatures games, not this.

Good!

Creatures is extremely exiting. Your Norns have there own cute personalities. You have to teach them what is good and what is bad for them to be #1 Norns. Albia, the land in which they live, is beautiful, interesting, fun, creative and very well put together. The music? Awesome. It is one of the many reasons I keep on playing. Your fun-filled Norn adventures are FUN according to how well you've been treating your Norns. Everything is unpredictable. What happens next is everybody's guess! That is why I gave this game an overall score of 5 stars!

This is the worst game I've ever played. You have to probably three years old or younger to enjoy it.
