Questing and Battle!

First off, there's plenty of characters to work with, including some guest stars from the Final Fantasy series (You have to earn some of them in arcade mode) Cloud, Sephiroth, Tifa, Yuffie, and Vincent show up, along with Zack, another Soldier, first class. Perhaps my favorite thing about this game is the Quest mode, where you can take Clair and Koji through dungeons, gathering weapons, armor, and magick as you go on different missions. Drawbacks, you ask? Well, the biggest drawback for the quest mode is that saving data costs more every time you level up. That starts to hurt after a while. As for the fighting part...there really isn't much of a drawback! Great game!

Underappreciated!

Why has everyone overlooked "Ehrgeiz"? OK, aside from the fact that its name doesn't include the word "Tekken". Sheesh.

I *hated* fighting games before Ehrgeiz. Too much immature button-mashing, favoring speed over any kind of strategy, improvisation, or skill. In Ehrgeiz, there's great depth in understanding and maximizing your character -- each has strengths and weaknesses, and the fun is from using your money moves while knowing how to stop your opponent's.

A knock against the game is a widespread allegation of unbalanced, overpowered attacks. Pish. Most attacks can be blocked; all can be dodged, countered, and/or interrupted.

Yeah, the bonus games are fun, but the action at the heart of the fighting mode is solid. Don't let this one get away.

The Best fighting Game EVER!

Ive had this game for about 4-5 months and have played it for 200+ hours. I have accumulated a LARGE following for this game that started with just a friend and I. Each weekend involves 10+ hours of Ehrgeiz.

This FAR surpasses any other fighting game. It is 3D, has HUGE amounts of strategy, takes only a few minutes to learn, but even after 200 hours we are still finding new moves.

My best friend's lil brother is a gaming master...at 13 years old has mastered any game he has gotten his hands on. He has counted the amount of moves that each player has... and they have around 100 moves! WOW! surpass that Tekken ;) He also finds us 2-5 new moves each weekend, adding more to his lists every time.

If any of you need help with ANYTHING in the game, just email me at squall@wcn.net

Squaresoft is my most favorate company ever. however, they have moved more and more out of the RPG market. Some of these games are great (Final Fantstasy Tactics). But this game is on par with FF mystic quest (those who have played that game know what I mean) . The game did have a good start but after an hour I was done with it. And the other "RPG" part of it was just plain sad. It had no plotwist or even a plot. all you do is go back and forth. And when finnaly beat it, you get no end. Just a job well done . but I do admit it did have some good mini games. But,if you want to play this game , just rent it!

Best Game! Go Squaresoft!

I'm a huge fan of the twitch fighting game, it's why I bought a console, as PC based twich games don't cut it.

Well, I've pretty much whomped on every PSX fighter until Ehrgeiz. This is the most challenging fighting game ever, period. With dozens, perhaps hundreds of moves (I haven't discovered them all yet) per fighter, you're bound to play this puppy again and again.

Unlike other games wherein a super attack (fireballs, ice, etc) can pretty much end the game, EhrGeiz allows for blocking. And unlike any other fighter I've seen, you MUST learn to block. If you don't, you will die quickly. You can see who knows the game and who doesn't by how well someone blocks. An excellent twist is "Interrupted" attacks. If you go full bore at an enemy, and he blocks, he can also trap you , thus "interrupting" you. What's that mean ? It means he will pound the tar out of you as he retailiates.

As a final word, it's nice to see balanced female characters that aren't stupid like Chun Li was in street fighter. The female characters are just as hardcore as the male, with excellent attack patterns.

Buy this.

Too short , well at least they added extras

One of square's bestand very underappriciated, the best Fighters game out, the quest mode has a great battle system(it could use a little better story line though)

Not as good as it sounds.

Whenever I heard that Squaresoft had made a fighting game with characters from the Final Fantasy series, I jumped at the chance. I admit, it's a fun game, but it lacked in many areas. I can't complain about the amount of characters, but the sounds weren't so good. Although I liked to idea of moving in more than just two directions, it often confused me. Finally, the special moves used by characters where always either amazingly effective or not worth the time. Moves such as heat-seeking missiles make the game way too easy. Aside from all of that, the story is great, and most of the movies are amazing, despite having nothing at all to do with the character's purpose. The many special features, including an RPG mode and several mini-games, make the game more interesting. I'm afraid, however, that picky gamers such as myself will loose intrest fast.

Awe inspiring

I don't own this game, but I can tell by what people have said and by the pictures, that this game can't go unnoticed. I know people have sound it's easy, but it will be interesting, especially if it includes powerful people from Final Fantasy VII.
I know this game won't screw up your hopes for good games, so you should try it sometime in you life time. If you don't, and you like it, you won't be able to experience a very great game.
