FFVII carried an average game over the top

3 Rating: 3, Useful: 0 / 0

I owned (past tense because i lost it) this game when it first came out because i was able to control FFVII characters in a different atmosphere. Now with the release of Crisis Core i purchased the game again to re-live that feeling. And once again i had a lot of fun fighting Sepheroth vs Zack, and other various combinations. But i realized that if FF characters were not an option, i wouldn't think twice about this game. I was also a little dissapointed at Cloud's face, it didn't look the same as it does in FFVII. Some of their second costumes are so stupid, with the exception of Vincent. But Tifa & Cloud's 3rd costume are great.
Overall the game is fun, but only because of the FFVII characters. Without them, i would find this game in the $3 bin.

A Great Pasttime Bought Back To Life

Ah, the wonderful memories of the past are streaming back. I grew up on this game and when it had to be sold, I was crushed. However, now that I have a hold of it again, I'm all better :). This game is great for anyone who wants a fighting game that includes FF7 characters for the first time that I know of in the states. An A+ game!

Great game!

This truly is a marvel of fighter/rpg games. As mentioned, yes it is great for all of you fans out there for RPG games such as Final Fantasy, but the RPG side of this is great, too. One of the only things I didn't like about it which soon grew on me was how you could always go back into an area and there would still be guys there you killed beforehand. That was because at the time I did not take into consideration how much experience to level up that gave :)

However, the only other thing I didn't like was how there wasn't an available 2 player RPG mode for this. And yeah, that's true, people overlooked this game all the time because it was not popular like "Tekken" or something of that nature, but so what? People only go for what's popular, that's disappointing. Quality is my main concern, and this game definitely gets my vote for quality. (Graphics not included, though this game was well for its time).

~Graphics do not make a game good, storyline does.~

Play With Your Buddies!

Play with your buddies, beat on your little brother or sister in this great fighter game. Some how, I feel as if this game was tucked under the covers of the video game world, and has not been exposed enough to others.
This isn't just corner your opponent and hack until they are defeated. There is some skill actually involved.
There's quite a few features to this game, but some of them I left hardly touched. The RPG game included in this, to me was gross in design and not very fun. I wasn't captivated by it at all.
However, this game is not about the RPG feature, it's all about the action between two opponents, and unlocking great characters such as Vincent and Yuffie from FFVII. You can also unlock other neat characters and new outfits for everyone.
A great game for it's time, sadly overlooked by many. To me, though, it got boring after a while, but it still is great. Not as addicting as some of the newer fighter games. However, some may find discovering many moves and using them quite intriguing. The controls are quite good on this game. Some of the arenas to fight in seemed small.

Be warey of the prices it is going for. I found this game several times between $10.00 - $15.00. However, if you're a collector, money isn't always a factor. Besides it all, it's kind of a hard game to find.

If you like this game, or are considering it, other games that may interest you are:
Soul Blade - PSX
Soul Calibur II - PS2, Gamecube, XBOX
Bloody Roar

I was looking forward...

...to this game because of Cloud and Sephiroth, but even their hotness couldn't save one of the worst fighting games ever. I got tired of it in about 5 min. Judging by first Tobal 1 and now this... I think Square should stick to RPGs.

i haven't seen anything better

i heard of this game about 3 months before it was released, but never got the chance to play it til this year.the game itself is addictive and has enough of a roster of fighters to satisfy most people.and there are tons of moves, but in one day i already mastered cloud, zack, sephiroth,jo and godhand.but it isn't really easy.i still can't figure out how to do that grenade thing (dont know the name) where he throws them in a box-corner's formation around him.i can beat alot of my friends who have been playing it for like 2 years just by using moonsaults and then throwing the opponent.well,if you ever get a chance to get this game ...,buy it.it's supremly awesome.
