Potential

Probably one of the more annoying points of this game is the tremendous unused potential it has. Players have no "home" are must wander endlessly through the galaxy. Long load times inbetween jumps area also annoying.

I expect (hope) that as time goes on they will fill in the galaxy. I would really love to have a space that is "my own" in the world.

Awesome, but not recommended for everyone

E&B is so awesome. I have played a LOT for 3 days now and i'm already a lvl 30 enforcer and i've still got lots of things to do. In this game you have 3 races, each race has 2 class. Depending on your race and class, u can learn different skills. For example, an Jaquai explorer can rescue destroyed ships with the jumpstart ability. ( My ship got destroyed by aliens and I was far away from a station, luckily an explorer passed by and saved me :-) ) Teamwork is also important and adds the fun. The reason why i dont gave it 5 stars is because the galaxy is so vast, it will take a LONG time to reach an important destination. Also, combat should use more depth, it's almost always the strongest who wins. It's a great game, but not for everyone. If you prefer combat style like tie fighter, then you should wait for Star Wars Galaxies. But if you are a star-trek fan, then this game is for you !

EarthandBeyond offers an ongoing gaming experience that never ends. Regardless of your game style, the role(s) you choose to take on will provide not hours, but months of fresh new experiences. From being a trader (Entrepreneur), to a Warrior (Shoot 'em up), and currently 4 other roles to choose from. Or, create a character for each role.

Pretty excited.

After playing in the beta test for a few months, I think I'm going to buy this game. I like how you don't have to invest hours and hours like EQ. Also the fun starts immediately, you're not messing around for the first 4 hours trying find out what the hell is going on. Very accessible. Good job WEstwood.

Not bad but can use some improvemens

I like this game alot, I play it everyday, but I am concerned about a few things.
First it has great graphics, and gameplay is ok, but it can be more fun with joystick ability.
Second, the droning background sound needs to be tuned down so I can enjoy the other sound effects more.
But all in all this game is fun as ..., but, it needs PVP capability. Right now I am level 25 now and currently working on getting to 50 or so to see the real fun factor of this game.]
I would recommend you buy this game if you like a sci fi genre type rpg.

One thing I love is the chat interface, one of the best i have ever seen in a game. Great market ability also, for in game profit!

Total New Experience! Best Game Yet!

This game is total new and I am sure you never played any game like it!

It is like when Westwood created the first stratagy game C&C!

After you have the game installed, you will be asked to chose a race (there are three race you can choose from They are .... find it out yourself) Then you will be asked to pick a job, you can choose to be explorer, warrior, or trader. Then you will be able to modify your charactor, you can change its gender, cloth, skin color, wear, scar, hight, weight, face, hair and many more.

Then you will be asked to choose a ship, also you can build it to any shape within allows.

Ops no time left I will write more if i have time...

Good game in Beta we'll see what the real thing is like

I've enjoyed playing E&B for the last few weeks and I think it's a good game. A caveat on this game is that to play past the first month you will have to pay a monthly rate... I was unaware of this cost when I ordered the game but I think the gameplay is good enough that it'll be worth the monthly rate.

... I pre-ordered the game Sept. 1 and the game was officially released today (Sept. 24). According to Amazon I won't recieve the game (for a while). As someone who pre-ordered the game I was allowed to create a character that would carry over to the commercial release. Getting my retail copy ... after the official release means that the time I spent before the release won't really make a difference.

On top of that, the game is now being offered for ... less than when I purchased it. GRRRR!

Great game.

This game is really great. A 3d MMORPG world with a large host of systems to travel and my choices along the way. This game is a great buy... They offer free Demo CDS to be delivered to you home with a 5 day trial... i would suggest it.

Lag, Lag, and even more Lag

I was shocked when I read the reviews that nobody mentioned the terrible lag in this game. You will often wait 6-20 seconds for the game to acknowledge a command. this is not an isp/connection issue or a computer issue. If you log in for any length of time or you build a mid to advanced character, this will be the central topic of every conversation you hear and most of what you will experience. It also seems to matter little how many people are logged in. I have been on the servers when they are 15% full and still get terrible (I mean I can't tell what is going on in combat, and can't get the controls to respond if I could) lag.

You can read the rest of the reviews for a more complete picture of the game. But after playing for months, the key word of hundreds of conversations going on in this game, at anytime of day or night, is lag. Sometimes when the servers are empty, I have experienced blissfully lag free sectors of this game, but that is very rare. The biggest problem with this game right now is that you can not play it when you want to, but have to keep trying to see if the lag is so bad you can do any combat today or not. It is kind of like trying to run Win XP on a 486 computer...the hardware (or programing bugs) that backs this MMORPH is currently not up to the task.
