Best RPG for the Commodore 64?

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 0 / 0
Date: September 07, 2005
Author: Amazon User

Where do I begin? This game defined 7th grade for me. I remember working as a stage hand during a production of Tom Sawyer in junior high, and instead of doing my job, I'd tell everyone I ran into how much this game rocked. :)

While not heavy in the story-department (as compared to the Ultima series), it more than made up for it with character customization, classes, spells, *PUZZLES*, and sheer humor. I still remember dying in the game, and having this little angel guy say 'Sorry Bub.'

This is one of the first 1st-person perspective games, and it is really fun to explore the town, kick in doors, and see what you find. You'll encounter different monsters depending on whether it's day or night, and it's really fun to equip your characters with the loot you find.

The best part of the game has to be the puzzles and riddles. Be prepared to take notes, because graffiti on a wall somewhere might be a password somewhere else, etc.

Of all the commodore 64 games, I remember this one the most. A true classic, and a real pioneer in the world of RPGs. A+!
