Right from the first time I flew Fighter Ace 1.5 in open beta I have been hooked.
It's the massive multiplayer aspect of the game I enjoy.
The first time I flew, and got in a furball,I realized there was 70 guys and gals yelling and twisting in their chairs just like me in their own homes.Imagine a room with 250 people in it!
The online community in Fighter Ace is just awesome. We have our own Public News Group,to have fun in or air our woes, and we have unprecedented communications with Jaleco employees and the Fighter Ace Volunteer Group (Systems Operators or Sysops).
Fighter Ace has come a long way from it's Dog Fighting roots.
You can still mix it up in an airiel combat arena or jump into one of the Territorial Combat rooms and battle against other pilots and ground/naval forces.
The other aspect of the game I enjoy is the comraderie of the Squads. These are pilots who have formed squadrons and coordinate their efforts and have a great time doing so.
The game is kept fresh with Weekly and Historical Events put on by the Sysops.
There is also online Help Rooms and Training Programs hosted by the Fighter Ace Volunteer Group (Sysops).
Game play is incredibly smooth on new servers.
In short what we have here is more of a way of life then a Combat Flight Simuator.

Hope to see you in the skies of FA 3.5!

Taka taka taka!

Most advanced MMOG out there

Here is a game that offers a little bit for everyone:

It has Territorial Combat rooms, where the player can pick one of 5 countries to fight for. With others (averaging 250 pilots on any given evening), you can choose to bomb, drop troops, provide fighter cover, or hit tanks.

On the other side, there are simple dogfigting arenas, where you can fly as a team or even in a Free for All arena. The physics are relaxed a bit(unlimited fuel and ammo, no black or redouts) for easy enjoyable gameplay.

On the highest side, the people out for full realism can enjoy all the physics thrown right at them, and fight other planes without seeing their tags first.

This game truly is the cutting edge of MMOG flight sims. Sure, you can go play Battlefield1942 over at laggy gamespy with 32 or less players, but if you want to FLY there, its just silly. Combat Flight Sim and IL2 both are good games, but do not hold a candle to the online immersion of FA3.5.

The community is tight knit, as others have said. Unlike virtually any other game, troublemakers are quickly run off by the everpresent sysops, who really do a great job of keeping gameplay enoyable for all. Lets face it, anyone with any experience in online gaming has faced the "jerk", who is only there to cause trouble and disrupt a good time. FA polices itself well. The few bad ratings this game has got in customer service are from those people, angry I am sure, that for once they were not allowed to disrupt things.

The developers actively fly and converse with players in the newsgroups, something rarely seen in a videogame. The sysops run events week long. From Pin Point Parachuting, Canyon Races, Kings of The Sky (KOTS) Squad Matches, to full blown historical recreations with 1000's of pilots participating, the events are a blast.

Your fellow pilots will quickly become your friends and confidants. After a while, you will want to join a squadron so you can work even better as a team to bring your country to victory in Terrritorial Combat, or hold the KOTS room as champion of up to 5 equal squad matches.

This game truly has it all and I know any online gamer would have a blast in it, given the chance.

I have played this game since version 1.5 and it is by far the best WW2 flight game on the market. 3.5, with it's massive multiplayer technology, makes flying with 200 real people at a time a thrill that can't be duplicated. Fighters, bombers, cargo planes, it has it all. But the best part of Fighter Ace is the community. It's the best [$$] a month I've ever spent.

Excellent flight model, Great community, Great varieries

This game has been around since 1994 when it was hosted by Microsoft Gaming Zone. IMHO this is the best combat flight game bar none.

...

Where do I start about this game? OK, let me try:

- Massively Multiplayer, this thing is ALIVE with pilots flying all around the globe!
- It has 96 different planes from 5 WWII countries, all meticulously modelled after the real thing. Including Bombers, fighters and transport planes
- Different arenas from quick dog fights to Territorial Combat where contries fight against each other with bombing missions for sea and ground targets
- Areans are tailored for different skill levels, and there are 10 levels with different level of physics and views
- very nice graphics for an online game
- Regular online events

The best thing about this game though is the fiecely loyal community, people are ready to help anytime you have a question, they even have volunteers setting up training classes for newbies, and "help rooms" for live chat with people standing by to help.

I can go on and on, but seriously I have to go back to have some fun!

This is a very well thought of game. The planes fly very realistic and have several levels for the novice -> expert pilot. You can fly bombers, fighters, tank killers. You can bomb bases or fly support for your friends as they fly the bombers. And believe me you will make friends in the game.It is a very tight knit community, supported by a very knowledgeble Fighter Ace Volunteer Group. These people are Instructors and room modoraters. What other online game has people "Ingame" to assist you in learning to play? Give it a try- I promise you will not be sorry!!

Some myths to be disparaged

Fighter Ace has not been a Microsoft product for some time now.
They went solo on their own with the staff who designed the game.

AH guys say FA pilots are biased?
Better look in the mirror, and it isnt just a kids game.
Many are from the older family crowd and very enthusiastic about the history and modeling of the aircraft in every possible detail.

It takes some practice to be good in the game.
I have flown every flight sim I could get my hands on and FA presented me with the best immersion and feel of them all.
(CFS 1-3, IL2, AcesHigh, WarBirds, X-Plane, Crimson Skies)

Its not about fighting premapped drones.
Its not about fighting hacked opponents.
It's facing real people in a sportsmans atmosphere.

For the price nobody can beat VR-1 & Jaleco for the package they have assembled hands down. CFS 3 Was pretty but still as flat a flight model as CFS2. And for the price of CFS I think MS bombed.
They should have stuck by the FA Platform its developers are among the very best in programming and as people.

Sincerely,
Chris Moor
Flight Sim Enthusiast.

Show me this many people having this much fun ANYWHERE!

Found FA 4 years ago and haven't found a game this fun since! I have tried WB, AH, WW2OL and others and NONE match the knuckle clenching, heart pounding, adrenaline rush F U N!

Now, yes this game is played on the internet... so internet performance can cause issues. But ANY online game is subject to this and NONE pull off as much action and fun per person playing (up to 300+!!!) as Fighter Ace 3.5 can! Problems are identified and remedied as soon as practical and possible!

The community in this game is second to NONE. The developers and sysops are seen in game routinely. They have an active stance in gameplay issues and playability.

There is something for everyone who enjoys flying the virtual skies. 3 basic physics levels w/ various settings that reach for pure arcade to very realistic (not that silly stuff that you see in WW2OL and such) flight modeling.

You can fly fighters, bombers, torpedo planes, even cargo planes! There are constantly changing rooms that are updated regularly to keep game play challenging and fun, as well as a few rooms that based on popular room layouts.

So come on in and give it a fly... there are TONS of squadrons looking for new members and TONS of solo flyers looking for a wingman... YOU!

Whoa!

That's the easiest way for me to describe Fighter Ace. I have NEVER come across a game like this ever before. I've spent my time in CFS, Aces High, AW, and several others, but nothing out there came close to this one! The graphics are done so well that you'll be ducking in your chair when you fly head-to-head with someone. If you want to dogfight, bomb, move supplies around, sink ships, drop paratroopers - this is the game for you. FA has it ALL!! Give Fighter Ace 10 minutes & you'll be hooked... I was.

Not only is it an excellent game, but the support is beyond words! Looking for some folks to fly around with? We've got that too. The Fighter Ace Community contains some of the greatest people you will ever speak to or meet. From the newsgroups to the aircraft carriers to events, FA is definitely the BEST! The game designers & developers can even be reached by us players. They don't hide themselves from the community and they DO indeed listen to our suggestions. When you buy this game, you may need to get a seatbelt before you take to the air!! See you in the skies!

This game has to be the most addicting game ever. Its got great graphics, and great online competition. There are over 150 people in the TC room at one time. My favorite is TC (territorial conquest) I don't understand why there are bad reviews on this game unless the person never took the time to learn it. If you are any kind of online pilot you'll love this one. Its got to be one of the best kept secrets of flight sims/games!

I have been playing Fighter Ace for over two years and the game can not be beat. For WWII air combat simulation this one is tops! You can do so many differant things you will never get bored of this game. You can just plain dogfight, there are a number of rooms with varying realism to fit any skill level and preference. There are also War rooms( called Territorial Conquest) where your actions as a pilot control what happens on the ground. You can fly Bombers, fighters, Attack missions or all of the above during a flying sesson.
The community is second to none. All you have to do is ask and most pilots will line up to help you. I've accually seen one pilot help another fix his car! For parents, the rooms are monitored and any pilots using foul language or being abusive will be removed from the game, so you can let your younger ones play with out having to worry about them.
