Best Gameboy game ever?

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 20 / 24

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening is arguably the best game offered on the original black and white Gameboy (no offense to Metroid II).

Not many people realize that this game came out AFTER the Super Nintendo Zelda game (A Link to the Past), and there are times when you can see the modifications the developers made on the SNES version to make it better in the Gameboy version. The main example of this, and one of the coolest features on Zelda games at the time is the ability to jump in this game to get over obstacles and enemies. Also, the graphics to this game are wonderful compared to other Gameboy games around.

In this adventure, Link awakens on a beach in a world he's never been before. The story doesn't quite go along with the previous three Zelda games. You aren't in Hyrule, Gannon is not the enemy, and Zelda is not even in the game. But the game play is classic Zelda, and there's almost no better thing to do in a video game than play as Link fighting enemies to save the day.

P.S. The side-scrolling "Super Mario" tunnels are the funniest things Nintendo decided to put in this game.

THIS GAME IS GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a really fun game to play. The only downside of this game is that it can get insanely difficult because you sometimes have to do obscure things to progress in dungeons.Just be prepared for a challange if you buy this game! This game keeps you hooked for hours.Even though the color version might be better, you will still have a good time.

The Best

This game is the best game on the market. 9 levels, plus a lot of walking (and running) room. The main song is 'Ballad of the WindFish, it's a lovely song. The Island of Koholiant is just a dream of the windfish, and a set of nightmares (bosses) made the windfish sleep forever. But, you (Link) have come to wake him. And again, this game is the best.

This is undoubtedly the best game boy game I have ever played. While the graphics aren't great, the game and storyline make up for it. Even thought I've beaten the game numerous times and have newer game boys and games, I still play it when I have the time. If you own a game boy, you MUST have this game.

This is a great action/puzzle game. A little pokémon style if you've never played zelda games, but way better. the story line could use a little work, but other than that it's pretty much the perfect RPG.

a great game

My 11-year old and 8-year old kids love this game; but I definitely recommend you also get the strategy guide to get the most out of it.

This would be a wonderful game to play no matter how old it is.

I love all the Zelda games so I am partial to giving perfect scores to this series. This was the first Zelda game I had ever played and I was caught from the first time I turned it on and went down to the shore to get my sword and start my adventure into the world of Zelda. The world is large with lots of fun areas to explore and a fun side quest that has you walking all over the world, but wanting what was at the end. I made lots of notes and ended up making a guide for it. This is a timeless game that will endear you as well.

Zelda isn't in this one :(

Link crashes on this unknown island and doesn't know what had happened and he lost all of his stuff. There is some really cool items like a wand that shoots fireballs and cloaks that give you +attack or +defense. This is a pretty fun game.

Kindled my love for Zelda games for years to come!

It was 1993,1994 when I had this game in my clutches. I still have it with me, many years later- along with Majora's mask, Ocarina of Time/Master Quest and one day Windwaker. This compact game is perfect for those rainy days- the quest keep you searching for more clues, all the while trying to figure out the meaning of the Egg on the mountain.

I give this game a 5 of 5 and suggest it to anyone considering a classis for gameboy/nintendo.
