This game has 12 levels right? 4 worlds, 3 levels in each one. The bosses are ok too. Fun if you can cheat a bit, like oh my gosh!! Mario is a glove? No a cloud? What can he be? The graphics for that little cheat is sort of screwy. But the submarine, the airplane (are parts of the game), and the music is ok. THe music at the end is what I think better than the gameplay music. But it is sort of funny that Mario says to a fake Daisy for the first 3 levels "Daisy, oh Daisy" after she or whatever says "Thank you Mario". I can complete the game in 47 minutes anyways, but who cares (cheating)? Still good. B would be turbo/fireball. A is jump (of course). If you do have a gameshark, you can have infinite lives and other codes like I said up above. This game might never be boring for some people.

No saving?!? 12 levels?!? WHAT HAPPENED HERE?!?

This game kind of let me down. First of all, the graphics stink, but I don't care that much about that. Second of all, you can't save. Sure, the levels have thrilling challenges, but there's no point to them if every time you get a Game Over, you have to play it all over again. And I was pretty surprised when I found out that this game only had 12 levels. Oh well, it looks like Nintendo shaped up after that though, because I like most of the games that they have out today.

Great game

This game was the best..............in its time. Now, it dosn't compare to newer games. The graphics, surprisingly, are pretty good. A bad point is you can't save your game and it gets frustrating. Overall, the game isn't very bad, but I'd buy Super Mario Land 2 or Wario Land.

Okay for original

This game was a fun game at first. I had previously played this game at a friend's house and liked it so much, my parents ordered it for me off this website. This game excited me so much when I beat another level. Then there was the save part. After so much work, this game wouldn't save for you. Very frustrating. Finally, when I got to the final 12th level, the boss Tatanga or whatever was impossible to beat. The music on this game stunk too. The only thing I still like about it is the level/levels where you ride a rock over spikes. The 1st to 11th levels are fun for first tries.

Super Mario Land is super!

Super Mario Land was really great. You are Mario and you search through worlds to try to find Princess Daisy. It's a great game because I hate Bowser and Bowser isn't in this game. The only problem is.... no saving!! Oh,well.

One of the finest GB games ever made

Alright, I know there are those with the gripes (can't save, only 12 levels, blah blah blah) but this game is pretty old guys. This game was released in 1989 and there weren't very many games back then that you actually could save on. Second, there are only 12 levels and they're extremely short. You can beat the game in simply 30 minutes. There should be no reason why anyone should have to save at all. It's very easy to rack up several lives thanks to the bonus game that Nintendo threw in as well.

For 1989 and for the early years of the Gameboy these graphics aren't bad. While they look like something seen on a graphing calculator they're not bad considering its age.

The game isn't too hard, but it isn't so easy either. The gameplay is similar to the original Mario Bros. on the NES. Except that you can't tell which power up you've got. That could be a problem.

The game can be played by just about anyone. Sure you can't save but you've got to remember the games AGE! Saving wouldn't become a norm until the early 90's in the day and age of the SNES.

its sooooooooo fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i think that this game is really like an expert version of super mario brothers 1 because it has almost the same graphics.it seems like a good game because mario gets to fly and swim in a sub!i give it 3 stars cause 1 it is hard to fire fireballs 2nd when you jump on a koopa the shell [Explodes]!(...)

Mario's very first adventure on GameBoy and yet one of the best!

I still remember that I bought this game along with the GameBoy when they were released in 1989 when I was still a teenager. It has everything a Mario fan could expect! Graphics are very similar to Super Mario Bro. for the NES as well as the gameplay and no saving feature! In addition, there are some new elements like divided road at the end of a stage and could ride an airplane in the sky or a submarine in the deep ocean. That's is why this game is one of my favorites of all time!

Good But Fustrating (Rating: 7 out of 10- -3.5 Stars)

After my success of "Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins", I decided to play the first "Super Mario Land". To me this game is okay, but nothing too exciting to write home about. It's basically like playing the first Super Mario game back when it was on Nintendo. There are four levels to beat, and each end of the level has a boss to beat.

The super powers are origonal. All you get is the mushroom and the fire flower. And when you get hit, you'll turn back small (not Super Mario like most games). Also some of the enemies are very difficult to beat and takes a while to kill. And at times, some levels are too difficult to beat (Like the third level [Easter Island]), so it gets real fustrating. I managed to beat the game, and I believe it stats me over from the beginning and it is much harder to play.

Basically this game is alomst exactly like the first Super Mario that was on Nintendo, but just shorter. If you liked that game, then give this one a try.
