Is this a PC or Playstation?

I have been very disappointed with this title. The "realistic" flight mode is a joke, you can do 140 knots while still on the ground.(I could go on ,but limited to 1000 words)There appear to be numerous bugs: from commands not working or no command options for needed tasics.(changing waypoints)Tech Support offers NO HELP! In fact tech support is nonexistant... The playability is no better than the Playstaion version, except for better graphics. I'm shocked this was released in its current condition. PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY...ITS BAD!

Definetly Worth A Look!

I agree with alot of the complaints about this game: the Waypoint System is pretty cumbersome, your wingmen obviously graduated the bottom of their flight school class and the helicopters available to fly are sometimes above the law of physics. However, those complaints aside, this game is fun! The graphics are stunning - flying 100 knots barely above the trees is truly a stunning experience. Fly low enough and you can hear the leaves and branches slapping against your fuselage! The rockets and missle are impressive looking as they fly off your rails. You can damage a vehicle and watch it limp towards a hill or try and swivel is smoking turrent as you move in for a kill with a load of 30mm. Infantry will ditch their vehicles and run for the cover of the trees. If you loose them, watch out! Fly over that patch of forest where they are hiding and you'll be eating a SAM! I could fly reasonable well after a couple of hours. You can adjust the game to any experience level and can suit the game to any flying style you choose. I don't want to fly a "real helicopter". I want something in the middle - a game that is fun and a sim that is realistic but forgiving. Anyone who complains about the lacks of realism should go out and buy Flight Simulator 2000. Gunship is not perfect. But is fun and graphically stunning. I would definetly reccomend buying this game. (I haven't had a chance to play online with it yet....I'll check back with that review later!)

Should have been a Vacuum Cleaner.

Since many aspects of this game ( ), I feel it missed it'scalling. I purchased this Game for 39.99 at a retail establishmentwith a free copy of Mech Commander Gold which made this a good deal, as a matter of fact it costs 39.99 everywhere but here. Aside from the cost issue, the game is a grave disaster, the physics and flight model are not at all realistic, the manual is limited in information, there are errors showing that not much research was done for example the pilot in the AH-64 as well as most tandem seat attack aircraft sits behind the gunner, the manual shows the pilot in the front (gunner/copilot) station. Symbology and TADS functioning is not even close to that of Janes or Martin Marietta specs. Gunner's station is practically non functional, while the gunner and targeting is poor and not at all helpful. The lack of configuration options for controls and playability make this a canned sim. The graphics are good, but but gameplay is tuned more towards the role of pop-up target rather than flight sim. It is challenging and has potential, but in no way is prepared to compete with any other modern helicopter simulator exept that of Team Alligator, which also should have been a vacuum cleaner. I will give them the benefit of the doubt, I do like the looks of the game and will try desperately to work around all the shortcomings to enjoy what limited playability I have. I really like Apache Havoc's functional weapons and flight system that I expected microprose to at least match if not improve upon. The Apache is an advanced aircraft that is insulted by the trimmed down interface and lack of weapons system interaction. You have to like it though... they tried. It might grow on you, but without a demo to show their stuff, microprose stands to receive negative blows. The game really needs a patch. The decision to purchase is up to you. Hard Core sim players will be disappointed. END

A terrible way for Microprose to end its simulation line.

I was really desprite to get this game because I wanted ahelicopter Gunship game. I had Commanche Gold but that was good for beginers. I wanted something more advanced. I bought this.

Here is my two cents. This game was terrible. DO NOT LISTEN TO ANYONE SAYING IT IS GOOD. If you really want a good Attack helicopter game get "Eenemy Engaged: RAH-66 Commanche vs. Ka-52 Hokum B: Aligator" Long name but good game. Now back to Gunship. As everyone said the waypoont system just plain doesn't work, you have to go through a whole menu system and it only worked for me during the demo. The CP/G is a usless jerk who never does anything you say. And if you play as the CP/G the pilot always gets you killed. Firing a missile at the target YOU want is nearly impossible and for [the price] this is just a real rip off.

So in a summary all I can say is don't buy this buy somethiung else...

No doubt about it, this is the best helicopter sim on the market today. If anyone can find one better, let me know. I have longbow , and team apache, and all the rest of them, and they do not come close to the reality of Gunship, thank you. you have a spotter in front of you and your wingmen, giving you updated grid coordinates, simply because some targets are always moving. this will help you perhaps. Fly close to the ground as you can, when you need to update the grid to make the waypoints for your wingmen. your Copilot/Gunner cannot lock a TARGET' too well when it is raining, and visibility isn't good. I hope this information help those, that think this is a bad game. One more thing, the Apache does have wheels on it like a Jet,so one would tend to believe that you could probably strafe the ground while doing over 50 m.p.h.,Think about this the next time you play, or rate this game. thank you" now I don't mean hit the ground in a solid manner, PEACE:

I am amazed at the great amount of ignorance displayed in these reviews. I am a rated AH-64D Longbow Apache GUNSHIP pilot. With the exception of the Tactical Situation Display (TSD) waypoint system I am very impressed with the accuracy of this game. It is a peek into the world of a gunship crew. I am truely impressed with the way the CPG can use the TADS or the FCR to lock up and zoom in on TGTS in a fire and forget mode. Spot on match with the real thing. Firing on the move, rapid fire of RF missiles, and you even have to be aware of who you are firing at to prevent fratricide because just like the real thing the FCR does not differentiate between friend or foe. I can't believe that you can even call for ARTY support. MLRS (DPICM) or 155mm (HE), that is what it is really like to call for fire, impressive. Granted, there is no way this game can ever be 100% accurate. An example is the air to air mode which the apache has not and the fact that if you look into the pilot or CPG station to the lower left on the power lever quadrant, the power levers are in the off position all the time. However, if that is my only complaint BIG DEAL. I am still impressed!

One of the BEST!

MicroProse delivers again! One of the best helicopter sims out there. Rivaled by maybe only Hind. Finally a sim with intelligent enemy AI. The emeny tanks and apcs actually take protective measures! Excellant graphics. The flight characteristics are superb. It actually flies like a real chopper. A full range of options to set the realism to your liking. If you don't want to crash, so be it. If you want to be challenged you can be. It would have gotten 5 stars but the waypoints were difficult to figure out. Better manual would have helped.

Gunship was bought based on an old memory of mine about a DOS game called "Gunship2000". The remarkable thing about that game was simply the playability. I was hoping for the same in it's reincarnation. I was pleased, and at the same time dissapointed. The graphics are out of this world, and I love the feeling that it is a real world you are flying in. The sim itself is very arcade like tho in it's flying. The programmers made it very easy to fly, at the expense of realism. However, I might add, most helo sims are too hard for the average person to fly, so this one flys well, but they should have added true realism for those who want it turned on.- I doubt a real helicopter can absorb the punishment this one can. One glaring problem is the waypoint system- it doesn't work very well, and if you do manage to figure it out, you will see that it is the most clumsy thing about the game- The game is playable, but needs a patch VERY BADLY. Suggest you wait until things are fixed before buying into this one. The only reason I gave this a "3" is because of the "world" you fly in.- beautiful! I am able to live with the bugs just to wander around in this world.

hope this helps!

Promises, Promises or... Beware the Siren Song!

In my book, [this] is a major investment for any "game", so when you plunk down that much green, you'd better end up green with envy that you weren't the one responsible for designing such an amazing product. In the case of Gunship! you'll see plenty of green but only in the form of the aircraft, the ground, the trees (did I mention the ground?) and loads of lifeless buildings stacked together like some survivalist compound. The excitement in Gunship! hardly went further than the slick graphics and screen shots on the box. As for performance, the play of this title is just plain... plain, sort of like Cream of Wheat if you don't cook it with a pinch of salt, all the sugar in the world wont help, and it doesn't help Gunship! So to avoid that familiar dull sinking feeling you get in your gut and your wallet because you've been lured once again into the cold murky depths by the Sirens Song (i.e. slick packaging), wait until it goes on sale or you can get it in your local second-time around software store for [less]...
