You can't stop playing...

It's amazing how this game just draws you in. It's more puzzling and deeper than you'd ever think. Your creatures are much meaner (and definetly NOT cute, which I like), much stronger, and some (like hyrens) just dominate the rest, even if they're mighty hard to create a ring for. You can even bring a creature back multiple times, even if it's destroyed. You only need to fight when you choose to, as you have to step into a flash of light to encounter any creature. Much nicer than Pokemon, whetre a simple stroll in the grass brings out numerous and annoying weak creatures. I also find the use of spells and actual HP used to call on the creatures make the game more stragetic than any other game I've played. Secrets are all over the place, and finding secret hyren areas, powerful relics, and new spells require thorough searching of every nook, cranny, and seemingly empty chests. The characters are humorous, and actually have personality (Gogor set me laughing!), along with your character (And you can even choose to say "yes" or "no" to many situations), Tony Jones. The ONLY drawback I find is only being able to save in the "overworld", not on any map.

Not a Pokemon ...

My fav part of this game was the music! I haven't played any of my six Pokemon games since I bought it six months ago. The only thing I didn't like was how Zet was so powerful! I trained up for two weeks before I could beat him. I suggest you get a Deep Hyren as soon as possible. Otherwise the game is GREAT! It has a story actually, unlike many other games like Mario which have merely a plot like "Save the Princess." I'm dying waiting for it's sequel to come out in winter, but I'm not sure if it's for Gameboy Color or Advance. I only have a gameboy color, and if the sequel's for Gameboy Advance, I'm going to do chores till I can buy one!!I'm not going to miss the sequel!!

Don't buy Pokemon games. Buy Magi-Nation.

This game is excellent! If you just got out of Pokemon(like me) or your just looking for a good Game Boy game, get Magi-Nation. It's like The Legend of Zelda games mixed with Pokemon. This game(to me) is for kids(or people) ages 8-30. This game isn't to coplicated( like Zelda) or to childish(like Pokemon) but is kind of in between. The part I liked best was the roleplaying. If your a kid, beg your parents for this game. If your a teenager, save up $... and get it. If you are an adult looking for your kid a new GB game, get it for them. If you like Collectible Card Games, play the Dragon Ball Z CCG.

This game ROCKS!!

I've played the Pokemon games and I can honestly say this game is so much better. It has better creatures, better story, better everything. After playing this game you'll have the distinct impression that the Pokemon games are written for eight-year-olds.

This game will become one of those long-time friends in your collection.

Good stuff

I bought this and have been hooked since! I spent at least 4 hours playing after the first power-on (first because it makes you spend a half hour at start, so be ready to devote some time in the beginning), but levelling up creatures and collecting creature crystals is very fun, and the option to enter or avoid battle is great too! crisp, colorful, and well-drawn graphics also grace this wonderful title!

Kewl game

I think this game is definatnly worth buying. It has much better graphics then Pokèmon or any other game boy game for that matter. It also has a good story line which is another important element in games. It has funny moments and serious moments. all and all, I think this game is worth buying.

this is one of the only good RPG's for gameboy color. I liked it the minite I poped it into my GBC. the graphics are good, the plot is good, the battle system is good and, best of all the creatures and bosses aren't cute! If you like or liked pokemon, I am positive you will like Magi-Nation better.

A Good Game, but Missing Some Things.

This is a great RPG for GBC. It is probably one of the best out there for this system. The battle system is a unique mix between card battling and pokemon-style. The graphics and sounds are stunning (for a GBC game) and the plot is very dark and mysterious. The witty remarks of Tony keep the game humorous. However, there are many flaws. 1: There are dozens of locked doors that you can never enter, and it always leaves you wondering. 2: There are 5 unattainable Dream Creatures; Platheus, Sphor, Bolt Hyren, Thunder Hyren, and Core Hyren. They are on the ring lists, you just never fight them in the wild to get their animite. 3: There are many parts of the game that seem glitchy (Ormagon) and you would never guess the way to do them without a guide. And, last but not least, there are only 5 different worlds! The game is not really that long, it just seems long because of the shadow geysers. They should remake this game for GBA with new worlds like Nar, D'Resh, the Weave, Paradwyn, and Kybar's Teeth, and include all of the dream creatures that they left out.
