Blew Me Away

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 6 / 8

This game is the best single player RPG I've played to date, and probably my favorite single player game ever. I was told by some that the game was pretty short, but I don't think it is... and I havn't even finished it yet. Just do the side quests and this game is plenty long. Especially for the depth and work that is put into every bit of it. The game is so detailed.

Give it a try. It will not dissapoint. Even if you don't like it as much as I did, it will undoubtably still be a game you enjoy. Either way it's worth the money.

finally for the PC

I like many others have been waiting a year for this game to finally make it onto the PC from the Xbox. I don't have an Xbox, but my buddy does so I was able to play the game quite a bit, and I really got into it. I have been waiting ever since to finally be able to play this game myself on the computer. And when I heard they would be releasing it with even more content, I got even more excited. I was not expecting that, but am very glad that they did nonetheless.

Some people may complain it might still be a little on the shorter end (in comparision to other games on the market) but I for one do not care. The game is so intriguing and simply FUN to play, that I can look past this. And also, being able to go through the entire game several times (being good, being bad, and then good again, etc.) and doing different things each time like at the end is awesome and lengthens the game's life anyways.

It is just like the Xbox version in that you can keep playing after the final boss which is nice. That way if you missed any side quests you can still complete them if you would like.

The graphics look real sharp too. You can see battle scars and notice as your character ages which is really cool.

For those who are into using a lot of the Will Powers, there are plenty to choose from but unfortunately you can only have two in your quick-access menu. For the rest you actually have to bring up the Will Powers menu to select them. I'd prefer to just be able to asign hot keys for all them, but its forgivable.

For those who have played the original several times through, there isn't too much different until u get to head to the new area they added, which I found to be really enjoyable.

There is one quirk that I have noticed so far, and it is relatively minor. That is the controls. The default setup just doesnt feel right. Like it has the middle mouse button being the block button, which just doesnt work for me. And the lock-on button seems a little out of place too. But luckily like almost all games, the controls are customizable so its no big deal. After some customization I was back to tearing up bandits :)

In short, it's definitely worth a look, and in my opinion- worth buying. You shouldnt be disappointed with this game.

A cross between KOTOR and CSI...

The only problem with this game is that you really need to pay attention to the environment to pick up some things, like if you walk past a statue you will have to notice the spade icon comes up and you can use it. It requires a really focussed mind, and you get rewards if you're good.

But, on the other hand, the game makes some things blatantly obvious: eg where to go next, who can see you, who has something for you, where's the goal, etc. It's good, but it is a sort of irony- it makes it easy for you and hard as well. But then the game is not that hard... it makes you make decisions. The story is very well written, and I'm happy with everything else. The graphics are good, music, combat. Although the system gets you more involved than KOTOR.

90%

Good RPG but not worth 50$

I had been waiting for this game to come to PC for a long time. I really enjoyed the developer's other PC game, "Black & White," and if anyone on here liked Fable, then they should try "Black & White" as well. I wasn't sure what to expect with this RPG. The graphics turned out to be very nice. The hair on the characters was done very well - you can see many fine, individual strands of hair on the NPCs. Also, the game world itself is very lush. The game reminded me of the Zelda games for Nintendo Console, however with its own uniqueness. For one, Link in the Zelda games, could never choose an evil path. Another great thing about this game was the boasting option before going into a quest. This allowed you to do fun things like complete a battle while in your underwear for more gold, kind of a wager. I also liked being able to try and impress the ladies in the towns.

With all that being said, the game however did not impress me too much overall. Flirting with the local lasses was too easy. Also, when my character's scariness increased, all the female NPCs would cringe in fear. What about the dames who like the bad boys, where are they? Basically, the NPCs were too simplistic.

Overall, the game was fun and interesting. However, I don't think it was all the hype made it out to be. I've played lots of RPGs, and right now, I would say Everquest II is still the best, however it is an MMORPG so it is another league altogether. Fable was not much better than "Morrowind" to me when it comes to AI. Like I said the AI of the NPCs was still too simplistic.

I would give this game 75%, and if I could give more than 3 stars, it would be 3 1/2. I would probably give it a better percentage, if the game itself didn't cost so much. I can't totally slam this game though because it does have merits.

Fun game with little changes

I started playing Fable yesterday after waiting forever, and nearly buying an XBox just for the title. So far the game has been pretty fun, although the controls are a little quirky, and when you are leading NPC's around, they don't really listen well. Having to purchase your appearance is also an interesting twist. So far it is very fun, with great graphics, and a new look on RPGs.

GREAT GAME! A MUST PLAY!

This is a must buy!
Pros- Great customization/amazing fighting styles/ good magic effects/cautious approach, gorrilla tactic, and full on charge are just some of the tactics that the amazing AI has prepared for.
Cons-Bad shadow resolution/ Currently has a bug where you have to run in compatibility mode/ Kill Bill type kills, Ex: you chop someone's head off and blood sprays twenty feet in every direction.

Overall- This is a great game

It's good, but not great

I found the game fun. It lacks in some respects like extent of voice tallent (all/most females sound the same), story, and creativity. But, the worlds are rather great to roam in and the monsters can be tricky.

Still, the mechanics of the game that you are encouraged by the instructions to challenge are rather flawed. Economics allow you to do some rather brutal things like buy everything from a vendor who sells cheap and sell them back at the new (high) market price.. and repeat for as long as you want to be as rich as you want. Oops, a rather major game flaw.

Secondly, the game ends early with the defeat (holding back spoils) of the enemy... and the game continues. Just to beat him again, and then the game very suddenly ends in credits!

I didn't like that, especially with side-quests still pending. I left with the feeling that the developers made the game too short in beta and then found that they had to extend it for a bigger game.

Thirdly, but not lastly, the game has an amiguous save fuction. In other games you either have save-points or you can save anywhere. In this game it is mixed and ambiguous. I simply kept the PC and game running and paused it when I wasn't playing to avoid loss of progress (which I've had).

Fun but very disappointing

When I bought it I was hoping for Morrowind with more features. What I got was a very pretty game, with some new features, but was too short, didnt have enough story, was way more linear than advertised, was too easy and too expensive. When I finished I didnt get that satisfied feeling like I normally get after finishing a good game or a good book. I will probably only play through it once more just to see the other ending.

Graphics were excellent, combat was intuitive, nice spell selection (not too many spells), I loved some of the visual things they added like tatoos, scarring, hair cuts, you can become fat or skinny depending on what you eat, get big muscles or have no muscles. These and other what I consider small but integral things should definitely be in future RPGs. Some pretty big things were missing though.

First you cannot play the game as a female charater. Im a guy, but hey some times I like to play games as a female. Second, the story was very thin, hardly any character development. Interaction with NPCs is way too mechanical. Over the game you age about 25-40 years but hardly anything happens to flesh out who you are in relation to the other characters. Sure you can get married, be come good or evil, big and strong or small and magical but why should I care about you as a character? Why do other characters in the story care about you? Why should I care about any of the other characters in the game. We learn basically nothing about anyone except basic events in their life, nothing about what they like or dislike, what theyve done, what motivates them. I mean, you learn more about the mercenaries you can hire from their side comments and interaction with each other than you do about the character's sister or his school roomate who play major roles. I very much missed the dialog and character depth, both payable sexes, and multiple races of Morrowind and Neverwinter Nights.

The game was just too darn easy and it doesnt have any way to increase the difficulty. I blasted through it in a weekend and did most of the side quests (even though they were mostly for money, which you have too much of anyway) and even the extra area they very obviously tacked on at the end. The only way I found to make it more difficult was to run around naked and use less expensive weapons. The early game was good but by the middle and definitly at the end I was destroying everything. The bosses are all way too predictable and with a little magic, some parrying and a few potions you barely even get injured most of the time by the normal enemies. There was never a time when I was killed or thought I might die.

I really hope there is a Fable II because I think they could do a better job, even if they reused the graphics engine and just hired some better story deveoplers they could make a much more enjoyable game.

Of course maybe my preference for story driven games is what makes me dislike aspects of this predominatley hack and slasher.

Warning this game has problems

Although this game as reviewed by others might be fun please know that there is NO SUPPORT. The game has a lot of loading and saving problems and there are a lot of people that can not play it on their computers. All of the sites for this game say that eventually they will come up with a patch to fix their serious problems but that has not happened yet. You may be buying a game that you cannot play. Their only advice is to play something else until, or if, they get these issues resolved.

I won!

Like someone posted before me, Fable may not work on you're computer. I have no clue why it dosen't work on mine. I have a X800 XT, 3.2 Pent, 2 gigs of ram, and have no problems with any other games. I bought F.E.A.R, Age of Empires III, Quake 4, X-Men Legends II, and Fable at the same time. Fable is the only one that won't start. I turn on max detail on every game and they work fine, so it's not a preformance issue. I don't want to install old drivers to check if thats the problem, because it will create more issues.... I guess I have to awit for the patch. I give it a 3star cause all I've heard were good things. If you have a way to make it work e-mail me at [...]thank you.
