Possibly the last 2-D KOF but...

I would like to say that if this is the last 2-D KOF, then SNK has really ended this 2-D series with a bang. Solid gameplay, vast characters, big replay value, I could go on and on... Unlike the past KOF games, the characters in this game seemed to be much more balanced. Ash is not a top tier anymore in spite of his new LDM. Athena seemed to gain more priority than the past KOF. The new characters are fun to use especially Oswald. His card LDM can execute a 52 hit combo!!! As usual, the final boss Magaki is extremely cheap. Overall, the game is fun and nostalgic. BUT, Ash is still gayer than ever.

King of Fighters is back!

If you like old school 2d fighting games with alot of challenge, then this is for you.
SNK cranks out some high quality 2d graphics in this newest edition of the famous KOF series.
It is very challenging for veterans and can be toned down for newcomers.
A huge selection of fighters to choose from and a tight control system.
There are also lots of unlockable things like new characters and artwork.
So if you are a fan of the series or just fighting games in general, then this is for you!
The King of Fighters Tournament is waiting for you!

Not as good as previous

First, let me say that I am glad that they brought back a lot their older characters (esp Whip b/c I can actually crush the computer on the hardest level w/o continuing with her, not as good against humans with her.) The game play is still difficult as it has always been, and they removed a great deal of cheapness over the years, but I think they took a little too much out, because this one I can beat fairly easily (and not just with Whip), just as long as I don't screw up any of the moves (with Whip I can screw up and recover well) or forget (and with the large number of characters, it is hard to remember who does what).

I am 50/50 on liking the fact that they went back to 2d. I wouldn't mind it as much, but the 3D games were a lot smoother. They have added a many great moves, but took some of the others out. And the have changed some of the old ones, some for better, some for worse. The combos are smoother and easier to do because of better response. But honestly, 2006 was a better game in all aspects. You would think that when you bring a game down to 2d that would work better than 3d now a days, but they didn't succeed in that. From the way somethings were running, it looked like they have a new engine running, and haven't got all of the kinks out. I still recomend this game to fans, but those new to the KOF name should either try Max Impact, 2006, or 2003 (in order of ease of game play, not how easy it is to beat). And I warn new people, prolonged gameplay will cause blisters, and the blisters will make it that much harder to play because you will be off slightly, but slightly is all the difference in moves. Which reminds me, the direction is way too sensitive.

And there is no such thing as too many female fighters.

A crowning achievement

Gorgeous graphics. This is the most well-drawn of the series. You almost feel as if you're watching anime when the fighters go at it. The fluidity of the animation is awesome.

More SNK Fun!!

Again!! Another great SNK game that keeps the fans wanting more. I can't wait for their installation of the World Heroes series and hopefully a Samurai Shodown Anthology will soon make it's way to the Playstation genre.

More of the Same, But Still Fun

As a fan of SNK games in general, I knew what I was getting before I played it: more old-school 2-D gameplay. Yes, it's getting old, but if you like the KoF series then you'll like this.

I like this game. I give it a 9 out of 10.

I enjoyed playing this game, and I recieved it in good condition. This is a good buy for anyone who likes 2D fighting games. It's not better than KOF 2003, but it's a good game that's worth buying.
