This game is sooooo realistic and fun to play as well. It's not like Rainbow six where you have to control your fire. I loooove to cut loose with a PK. One question, why doesn't it have a rating?

First of all my name is not Martha since thats my mom and also that I am a 15 year old male. This game I have had since the day it came out in the U.S. It is the best game I have ever played. It is so realistic with great graphics and the ability not only of ground soldiering but being able to fly AH-1 cobras, apaches, a10's, or even an abrahams tank. Since I have gotte this game I have played it for at least 2 hours everyday online. It is such a great game to play online I guess I should mention. It comes with software for an online gaming site thats free. In this game you can also make your own missions using the mission editor which is very easy to use and fun to use also since you can make some very neat type multiplayer or little missions for yourself to play. Leaving you with these opinions of mine , I highly recommend that you buy this game right now. Just add it to your cart and have fun.

Ambitious. It does exactly what it sets out to do.

This isn't doom. You're not Rambo. You're a simple soldier, and getting shot HURTS.

The year is 1997. The place, Bohemia interactive headquarters. Country, Czech republic. A small team of developers decide to create a war simulation.

Four years later the game is released. And it rocks.

This game portrays what war is all about. Killing. Killing and destroying, going back to the most primitive of human instincts. And this game does exactly that. It makes you laugh, it makes you shout with anger, it makes you freeze with fear. It's a simulation alright.

You have to save sparingly, for if it was not for the one-save-per-mission, the flow of the game would be seriously hindered and Death would stop being such a huge deal (killing the atmosphere)

I also have to give my compliments to the developers who are still creating new units and free downloadable add-ons (such as a Su-24, or even a grenade launcher) and new missions. They're also listening to the suggestions in their official message boards

I'm waiting it's add-on "Red Hammer" with the Soviet campaign.

Awsome Realism First Person Shooter

I can't believe even the stars in the night sky are accurate. You can navigate by them at night! Small things like church clocks are accurate to game time. So many vehicles to drive, and people just keep modding more! By far the best First Person Realism Shooter, I've played. The graphics could be better and the movements could be more natural, but they've more than made up for that in the huge maps and dynamic gameplay. WOW!!!! A word of caution... If you don't like realism, don't expect this game to be an arcade type "run&gun" game. You won't find health packs lying around the field for no apparent reason. And if a Soviet sniper puts a 7.62 in your skull, or 1 dead center of the chest, it's all over. The vehicle guages and speedometers even work. See an explosion 200 Meters away, the sound will follow after it has time to reach you... This goes far beyond the accuracy I ever expected. Codemasters, and your design team deserve many awards and recognition for such a well produced underdog of a game.

Excellent and Well Published Software!

When I ordered Command and Conquer Renegade from Best-Buy,I found out that it would not run on my computer.I cancelled my order and bought Operation Flashpoint:Cold War Crisis.I have to be brutally honest with you, because there is no game that I know of that lets you assault enemy bases with platoons of infantry, with tanks, jeeps, helicopters, and MANY more armored vehicles backing you up.
The game puts you in first or third person view of Corporal, Dave Armstrong. There are some levels where you have the option to play as Russian Spetz Natz officers, but only three or four. This game truly shows you what war is really like, and that it is not easy fighting a war-especially in enemy territory.
So, what happens in this game? The object is to force back the Soviet Union from creating a possible World War III.It is basically about teamwork, and being able to cooperate with your fellow soldiers.
The Graphics are so realistic, that even when you put them all the way down, they are amazing. The weapons at your disposal are so real-looking.When you run, the gun bobs up and down and left to right, and fires wildly when in motion.
Sound,hmmmmmmmm...Sound, I would have to say is OK, but not the best. The AK74 sound different on single shot, than it does on burst and full auto. The PK machine gun sounds very strange, and it doesn't sound like any gun I know of!
Gameplay...Ahem,drumrolls,please.'Pada Pada Pada Pada Pada'!Well, there's not much to say, but...Ahem...THE BEST OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!The Gameplay is the best, to tell you the truth.I pretty much described it in the first couple of paragraphs.
If you would like to check out some of my other reviews, I did one for Tiberian Sun, and Hot Wheels Stunt Track Driver 2 Gettin' Dirty...

Operation Flashpoint is the best game I've played. You start as a private and you go through the ranks. It is not a first person shooter, you can drive, be a gunner or comander of tanks and helicopters, planes also. It features chopers like UH-60, Black Hawk, the russian famous HIND and other attack fighters as the SU-27 and the A10. The first time when yu play the game, it seems imposible, you get shot from everywhere and you do not know who is who. When you get the hang of it it starts to become thrilling and the perfect game. You also get to be grenadiers and machine gunners, snipers, mortar, engeenier(mines) and with the updates there are new tabks and weapons and aircraft. If you buy this game... you wont regret it.

If I had to sum this game up in one word, it would be:
Beautiful.
Operation Flashpoint,(FP) is one of the best games I ever played. It takes place in 1985, and is about a Soviet invasion of a chain of NATO controled islands. The storyline is decent, and contains some plot twists. In the campaign you play as four characters, a soldier, black ops, tank driver, and a pilot. One of the reasons FP is my favorite game is that you can operate so many different vehicles. You are able to knock out tanks in an apache, attack a base in an M1-Abrams, or transport your squad in an APC.
There is enough units in the game, and both sides are evenly balanced. I would of liked it if they had put a little more units for each side. (I believe you know can now get new units through patches from the codemasters website.) The graphics, and details are superb. I especialy liked the weather and sky effects.
To sum it all up, FP is a great game. I recomended it to anyone who likes tactical shooters, the military, simulations, or anyone who just wants to have fun.

Games may come, games may go ...

But this game will last forever. I purchased this game shortly after its release, as of this writing I've had it five months and still play it more than any other title. Ghost Recon may have better graphics, but that's all it's got on OFP. The gameplay is truly astonishing.

The single player missions are difficult, yet playable, and cover a wide gamut of objectives. You may fly in to destroy a convoy via an Apache Longbow, or sneak into a camp alone, at night, to steal a car, grab documents, or drop some C4 on a fuel depot in the middle of a guarded village. You may have to take command of a squad of M1A1 Abrams tanks, or simply drive the CO around the base for an afternoon cigar.

After you've exhausted the single player missions, there's still plenty to do with multiplayer games, which are loads of fun. Then there's creating your own missions with the mission editor. This is perhaps where I spend much of my time. A truly amazing masterpiece of entertainment.

I've played newer games which are similar in style, but nothing yet has been able to lay a finger on Flashpoint for pure playability.

Just after commanding a tank column, I snuck into an enemy base and blew up the AA guns. This was so that the next mission I could fly my Huey Cobra gunship against the T-80's that were stationed there.

This game is completely dynamic. If you fail your missions, tough luck 'cuz the computer will move you to the next mission with those results (you can replay them, but you lose alot there 'cuz there are no second chances in combat). As you move through the campaigns (there is a campaign editor) you may gain rank enough to eventually command your own squad (or flight or wahtever is appropriate). And instead of one character you play 4 or 5: infantry, black ops, helo pilot, tank commander, A10 pilot (I haven't done this one yet).

It's a 100% interactive environment. Run over a sapling with a tank and you can hide behind it when you evacuate your burning tank. One mission my black ops character stole an enemy helicopter. The landing was less than perfect, but then what did you expect.

If I had only word to say about it: "BUY!!!" But since I am allowed more than that: "BUY, BUY, BUY!!!"
