okey, let me make it clear that i have never played X7, but have read about it. i don't know much of the plot, but i read that there is a new style of play or somthing and theres a new character as well to play as named Axl. They said (in Electronic Gaming Monthly) that this game isn't that great, but i'm still gonna try it out any way, but I just hope its better then Megaman X6 (thank goodness I bought Megaman Battle Network(another great game) over X6 3 years ago(i think)and glad i didn't regret it). I also i hope they start thinking of better types of bosses (an onion named Tornado Tonion....?). I'm not saying this game is bad, but I hope its good. hope this helps, though I doubt it.

Ok I've never played this game before but it looks really cool. A few day ago I went on capcom.com to look at some sceen shots of X7 and those gaphics look sick. The graphics are really good but they dont show anysceen shots of Axl the new hero. I hear its a 2 player game but Im not really sher, if it is this would be a really fun X game im probably gonna get it soon and I hope its fun. It most likely will be all the other X games were good. The X series is my favorite but not because of Zero.

IT'S NOT OUT YET.

PEOPLE,
this game is NOT out yet. I hesitated to post here since I didn't want to say anything UNTIL the game is released, but I'm sick of you going "THIS GAME WILL BE GREAT" when you should be reviewing it AS A PRODUCT AND THE FACT THAT YOU'VE PLAYED IT. Geez. Don't waste your time reviewing something you have no experience with.

Moral of this: it's called a CUSTOMER REVIEW for a reason, NOT a CUSTOMER PREVIEW.

In a failed attempt to go next-generation with the next-generation robo-hero, Capcom unfortunately has turned its latest Mega Man game into a mega disappointment. In this latest tale of 22nd-Century battles, you take control of the baby blue wonder and his mechanically inclined friends in a side-scrolling adventure set in a colorful 3D world. The run-n-gun action stays true to the Man's roots-while it may seem like you're hopping around in large three-dimensional levels, almost all of the action is still completely linear in traditional side-scrolling fashion. Though this in and of itself is not a setback, the unlimited cheap shots directed at you by the unruly enemies are nothing short of annoying and frustrating. Even a new feature that lets you switch between two characters at any time during gameplay can't keep adversaries from repeatedly hitting below the metal belt with unavoidable and inconsistent blows. The cheapness continues in other gameplay areas. A huge amount of slowdown, even when there's little going on, detracts from the overall simple shooting-n-slashing frenzy. A sloppy targeting system and the inability to strafe make the controls more of a pain than painless, while a dull soundtrack completes a mediocre audio package. If it weren't for the name, X7 would be at the bottom of the rental pile. For Mega Man fans, however, this latest foray with the blue man group has a nostalgia factor that might make it worth a night's rental-just don't expect an exhilarating ride from start to finish.

Never in my life have I wanted to beat an MMX game just to take it back. The control is horrendously tedious and other aspects that made the first six great translate poorly to the PS2. Surely on his 15th birthday of all times should MegaMan have to avoid such lackluster treatment. Believe me, it looks great, but once you've played it, the charm wears thin.

In short, should've been great. Isn't.

THIS is mega man x7? CAPCOM what were u thinking???

what was CAPCOM thinking when they tried to make a mega man x game 3d??? the thing i ALWAYS liked about the mega man x series, was it ALWAYS kept the "traditional" side scrolling theme! i always liked that, they were the only ones who knew it was about game play and not 3d graphics. i put the emphasiz on "were"! this is horrible, i cant believe they made it into 3d graphics. not only is it not as appealing!, but it ALSO makes it hard to see enemies that are coming your way. thats what i LOVED about mega man x6, it was still the traditional REAL side scroller. i cant believe they broke this "tradition!"

Rant from a LONG-time loyal fan...

In some ways I was satisfied by this game. It's not actually fun but at least Capcom finally got this series moved to the PS2, and they're willing to try some new things with the series, although having some bosses that aren't always these ridiculous animal guys isn't one of them. On the other hand they've lost all interest in the storyline. Even though it's good that X finally quit those bloodthirsty "Irregular/Maverick Hunters", this game doesn't really address any of the events of the past games. What about the issue of human-reploid inequality? I mean, in Mega Man X5 you killed "Axle the Red" over a misunderstanding (or because he was looting or he just really hates the Maverick Hunter's methods, depending on when you fight him and who you fight him with). There are many situations like this in the past several games especially, where you hunt a reploid over small disputes or because of suspicion without evidence (remember how Sigma manipulated you into destroying all of Repliforce in X4?)

And where's the links tying this series to the Megaman Legends series? Since they had to go and hint at it they should just go ahead and do it! Actually this game doesn't really seem to be connected to X5 and X6 either! Except for the fact that Sigma is back. Big Surprise! He's ALWAYS back!

2&1/2 stars. (**1/2)

How could Capcom let this happen to the Megaman series?

I have been a fan of Capcom's Megaman series since the first game on the original NES. The colorful environments, stimulating music, and inventive character design kept me interested even into recent years. After Megaman X4 however, Capcom has been getting sloppy with the series. The translation and overall production of X5 and X6 took a nose-dive, the music wasn't as inspired, and the level setup/enemy design was poor. Sadly, Megaman X7 is even worse than those two games. The updated 3D graphics give the game a fresh facelift, but the hit detection, boss design, and story is just a garbled mess. The camera in the full 3D areas often obstructs the player's view, some of the minor enemies take way too many hits to defeat, and there isn't even a sound effect when you pick up items. In short, the whole production simply feels glitchy and incomplete. The new character Axl is no redeeming factor either...he's a whiny brat who is meant to appeal to today's overconfident youth. If a good Megaman game is what you want, get Megaman X4 for PS1 or one of the Megaman Zero games for Gameboy Advance instead.

First the Street Fighter/VS. series drops in quality, then the sequel to Devil May Cry turns out to be a dud, and now Megaman X7...what's going on, Capcom?
