Good start, but not much replay value

This game was a great game. It had a great story line for the Federation and dominion. It provided you with a what-if story if the federation had lost. The importing ships from creator was a nice touch. you could upgrade the ships, import them, and watch them fight in instant action, and if you have an endless supply of credits in creator warp 2, and upgraded your ship well, you can watch it take on the entire AI fleet. However if the ship importing doesn't work, the replay value severly diminishes. plus the fact that most people and companies sell programs that need Xp, and newer programs, and owning an Xp, (i had 2000 before so that's how i played the game) It will be about impossible to play Dominion wars on it. So if you have an old computer with 2000 or lower, and have some free time, it's great, but otherwise, it's a game that will sink into the past.

A dog.

Just a terrible game. I've played Starfleet Command, which I like (but it is not perfect). Starfleet offers great tactical control but really poor strategic control. This game lacks both. I've won and lost missions not knowing why. One really does not feel any control over ships. The user interface is clumsy, limiited, and totally unexplained. The game comes with no manual, and the readme lacks any explinations either. The game has a tutorial, much like sitting in a class that explains how to use a computer without letting you turn one on--i.e., the tutorial is a "sit and watch" as opposed to an interactive "do". (In my book Freespace has the very best tutorial). The graphics don't cut it, being very unpolished in feel. They are second rate. The music is boring. The story is well, boring too. Finally, the game has absolutely no strategy. I'm not a big RTS fan, but I'd like some strategy. The only strategic aspect is that you pick out your ships and captains prior to a mission, after you hear the mission objectives. Big deal. If you lose a mission, its game over. A real strategy game gives you consequences to failure and rewards to success; here your reward is to get to play another mission, and the consequence of failure is to start the game over. It's too bad, the story had so much potential having been told on TV. Wait for Bridge Commander is my suggestion. I sure wish I had. I really wish I had never bought it.

Way too buggy, et. al.

This is a very nice looking game, but it's way too buggy, and after you've beaten the main missions (took me about three days of extremely relaxed gameplay), you might as well throw the thing away. One nice thing is that you are supposed to be able to import a ship created with the included edition of Starship Creator Warp 2, but dang it! the game was so friggin buggy, I never even tried. A skirmish mode, a la SFC, would have been *very* nice here; what would have been nicer would have been more thorough support.

The must have game for 2001

This games rocks. Start out and play as either the Federation or the Dominion. Lead up to 6 ships into battle as you fight in the Dominion war. Great graphics, awesome gameplay, and easy installation make this a must have game. I love playing head to head with my friends. Add this to your Christmas list. I still have mine in my computer !!!!!!!!!

I would give DS9 the dominion wars 10 stars if I could.I have version 1.03,and I have never added a patch. The game runs perfect in my computer, no Bugs, no crashes, whatsoever. I have a Gateway essential 400mhz, 320mgs random memory, Ati rage fury max pro video drivers, and sound blaster 128D sound card. Trust me I have all the star trek titles. I have had the Nvidia geforce2 32 bit mmx video card, I've had the ati radeon ve 64 bit video card, Neither one out performed the Ati rage fury max pro video chip. the Radeon was close. So I say to you, if you wish to run all the games, instead of some games, then please take my advice, get the ATI RAGE VIDEO CHIP SET. I've had windows me running 1200mhzs, window 98 second edition running 900 mhzs. Unless you get windows XP, you had better stick with windows nt,95. and 98. I have finished deep space 9 the dominion war, both the fed, and cardasian mission, all 20 missions are saved.

I got this game as when it came out and was very dissapointed. The graphics are fine but the gameplay is awful you can't control
your ship and you can't figure out what to do.

This is by far the best ever Trek game made. It is so smooth to play--easy to learn. It has fantastic graphics and sound, great movies, and nothing but intense action. If you are a Trek fan I would highly recommend you picking up this game! You won't be disappointed.

For those who expected to see a game with the same quality as "Star Trek: Armada," expect a disappointment. For those who were disappointed with the former, need I say more? The introductory cinematic sequences were particularly poor. Unlike Armada, Dominion War's sequences were static, as scintillating as a slide show. Like Armada, it has its share of "CD stammer" and associated bugs. The instructions are cursory. This game boasts of the capability of integrating ships customized from the same manufacturer's "Starship Creator: Warp II" product, but this capability only works in multiplayer mode. For some reason, the tutorial display is dim, like an underdeveloped photo. The very first mission takes place in "The Badlands," where the control interface is badly garbled. Other than that, the game was fine.

This game has serious problems with the control inteface, sound, graphics and stablity. I like the gameplay when I can get it to run but that won't be more than 10 minutes. And then you can't be sure that your saved game will work.

I would wait until these serious issues are fixed before you buy the game
