this game is awufal. it has loads of bugs, and gets slow towards the end of it. There are very few units also. I have had it for 3 days, and i am already board. Also the AI is really bad. I need to play on the hardest setting, and it is still easy. If you want a better game for less price, then buy Starcraft.

Would like to play the game but...

I bought this game as soon as it hit the shelves. I tried to play it but it wouldn't work. I didn't have a 3D accelerator. So I bought one just for use in this game. Then it wouldn't work because I didn't have a good enough CD-Rom drive. It wasn't able to read all the info on the disk. Why would a company make a game that to be played someone has to buy almost a whole new computer.

great action mixed with stratagey

Now, when I bought this it didn't look that interesting, even though I ama huge Trekkie and gamer. But I got into this game easier than any before. Now, it does have some problems, but not enough to give it less than 5/5 rating. The view is slightly off and there isnt enough different races to choose from, but it's good points outweigh those faults. I mean, number 1, YOU CAN BE THE BORG! Thats great. It gives you a real strategy game feel and is remarkebly like Starcraft(R)-Blizzard Entertainment, but it is a Star Trek game, and starcraft was a great game, Why not go with a winning style. I would reccomend this for anyone who is extremley into strategy games and/or is a Trekkie. 5out of 5, no, more like 10 out of 5( its that good!)

Incredibly Buggy

There is no one out there that wants games based on Star Trek more than I, but at a minimum they must be stable to be worthy of the Star Trek brand. This game is buggy to the point where I've never played a complete game, and gave up in disgust sickened with the instabilities.
I'm running it on a supported system with a supported video card, and Activision was absolutely worthless in troubleshooting the numerous problems I faced, and I did work with them and follow their instructions, and provide them with requested information.

A definate "do not buy" - and it definately makes me think twice or thrice before throwing money away on another Activision title.

By PC, I do not mean Politically Correct.

I've played the game, to much pleasure. Alas, it's only been on borrowed time on a friend's borrowed PC. Pity it's not up to the Mac OS ... but I do hope in time it will be.

Good game, Better than star craft.

The only problem I have with this game is all the bugs, one second your about to begin your final assult then bang, your destop appears from out of no where! Besides the bugs, the game play is easy to use, The story was well researched and go smoothly with the game. The multiplayer Intant action is also fun, you can play Multiplayer maps by your self. One disapointment is there isn't a map editor or builder like seen in Age of Empires or Starcraft. Over all fun game for people whoe like the Starcraft genre of gaming.

Beware!!!!!!!!!!

This is an excellent game for any strategic game fan. some reviews have all been consentrating on the fact that the game has a few glitches. i am one of the few who has had the pleasure of not expiencing most of these problems. the key is; let me start by saying that this game is extremly complex, even for a computer. For instance my computer is a Pentium III at 433mhz and about 128mb of SDram. for those who don't know what i'm talking about this is an ideal for Armada. LOTS OF MEMORY! the only way i think anyone can fully enjoy this game is with a computer that can operate it. i also think it is an unfair perspective for those who have a lower grade computer to judge this game without playing it to it's full extent.

Beautiful graphics, but derivitve gameplay.

To start off, this is a very fun, mildly addictive real time stratagy game. The gameplay is simple enought to learn quickly, but complex enough to entertain for many long hours. The big part of this game is the wonderful wonderful graphics, they are spectatcular. The way each ship banks and dives in battle, and the detail on each of the ships and stations is just pure unadulterated eye-candy. Of course no game can make it on looks alone. Armada has fun gameplay, that is a bit remenicent of Starcrafts airial units (battleships etc.). The problem is not really in the gameplay, but is in the differences between the affiliations. There is none. Except for the special weapons, just about every ship has an EXACT replica in one of the other races. This may be ok in Warcraft, but in the post Star Craft world, there is really no excuse for not making the races seperate but equal. The Borg are by far the most individual of the races, with the ability to assimilate the opponents vessels. While all the races can board and capture enemy vessels, the Borg have it best with the assimilation ability of the Cubes. Armada has a lot going for it, fun gameplay, great graphics, and interesting storyline. Its problem is not that it isn't good, but that it isn't good enough. 4/5.

Good game but too many problems!!

This is a good game when it is running. The problem is that it can lock up your computer or just plain disappear without any warning. They have a couple of patches that are supposed to fix these problems but I have not had any success with them. I even went out and bought a new video card(Rage Fury Maxx) and sound card(SB Live) and I am still having problems. If you buy this game, beware and good luck!
