Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This game has the best graphics the world has ever seen!!!
The captivating story is presented in the astonishing cut scenes is like watching a movie!!!
The realism of this game is creepy (don't play this game in the dark.) But before you rush out with your credit card in hand, not a couple of things: this game is truly a puzzle solving logic game and does not fit the action genre, and also this game is not a look or go where ever you want game it is jumble of scenes controlled by clicking the mouse to go or look where you want to (as is myst) This game is for an aquired taste and requires a ton of patience, but once you get the feel of this masterwork you will be absolutly hooked on. I guaruntee it.
Ubi soft has done it again. Awesome!

This game was, well, it is hard to explain how real itis. There is no violence. The idea of it all is enchanting. The wholegame I actually thought I was there. One point I tried speaking to a young girl that you find wondering, yes, it is that real. END

Riven is bigger but not better. Actually, its awful.

Riven contains the same beautiful details that made Myst such a phenomenon, however it fails to achieve the overall quality of the previous entry in this series. The pacing of puzzles and clues is completely unbalanced. Some of the puzzles are made more difficult by a cavalier attitude toward providing clues. After laboring through puzzle after puzzle, hunting for clue after clue, the finale of the game comes too easily and quickly. Though visually stunning, Riven,in the end, fails to be as entertaining as Myst or many other games currently available.

Disappointment !!!

Unfortunately Riven is available only to those privilidged few who have the newest and the fastest hardware on the market. Maybe a future release will be more sensitive to the less wealthy and privilidged. I'm disappointed!

In this, one of the most eagerly awaited computer games of all time, the user is shown a truly diverse and intriguing world. As appealing as this may sound, one would never known it. Dealing with the game's lack of involvement and user participation grows tiresome quickly. The concept of point-and-click gameplay, which was revolutionary in Myst's day, is beginning to show its age. Today's games often immerse the player in another world; Riven succeeds in only providing the individual with a multitude of pretty scenes. There may be a fascinating story behind Riven, but it is lost in its clumsy implementation. This title will only appeal to those who wish to show off their fast and new their computers. I surely won't be waiting around another five years for the next installment.

This is the greatest game ever -- for the thinking man.

I'm a fairly hardcore gamer and have played my share of Q3A and Unreal variants, but I'm also the owner of relatively high IQ and an appreciation for beauty.

Riven is the hardest game I've ever played, but I loved every minute of it. If you're the sort of gamer who can't stand a slow pace, steer way clear of Riven, because to finish it without a walk-through, you'll need hours and hours of spare time and lots of notes.

And as far as I'm concerned, there's no point in playing a game like Riven in the first place if you're just going to use a walk-through; it eliminates the joy of challenge that one plays for in the first place.

Riven has what no other game I've ever played so far has: unparalleled realism of design. In most adventure games, each puzzle is a location and isolated incident all its own. Riven works like the real world; distant objects and items may be related, not all things that can be moved are machines or parts of some mechanism -- some just move or make noise or whatever because they do, and machines with complex or extensive functions have equally complex and extensive workings and a commensurate number of parts. And in Riven, as in the real world, context and environment are very important. Every little detail matters; it's not the sort of "adventure" game where every five steps some idiotic "control panel" full of buttons pops up and occupies the entire screen while asking you to think of a combination. As adventure games go, Riven is different, even from Myst -- Riven is in a class all alone and far, far above others, even classics like Grim Fandango or Obsidian. AND (and this is my favorite part) Riven is the only truly NON-LINEAR game I've ever played. Ever.

Playing Riven is truly like becoming an archaeologist for a month and learning all about another culture -- which, in my opinion, makes it the best game ever. If, however, this description sounds borrrring to you -- after all, it is basically the polar opposite of games Deus Ex or MDK2 -- steer clear. You won't be amused.

This game is the bomb!!

And you feel so proud of yourself when you figure soemthing out all by yourself. and its not super hard so you dont get frustrated i would recomend this game for 12 and older if your into this sort of thing!

Don't buy it - play Myst again

I'm waiting for Riven since I finished Myst. Although the graphics are fabulous, the game is awful. The puzzles aren't difficult, but sometimes so tricky that the game becomes stupid. Some things just lack sense. If you really liked Myst, don't buy Riven. The only thing you will find both in Myst and Riven is the kind of graphics and the point and click. Don't expect to find the same kind of intelligent puzzles Myst had. After some play, you really get sick of this game. If you really want to play it, borrow from a friend.

Riven maybe is the worst game sequel I've seen. It's really sad, because Myst is one of the best games ever.

Good Game

A fun, but slighly confusing game that may leave you doing plenty of bac-tracking. Play only if you love being challenged and have lots of time to devote to it. Buying the strategy guide will save you headaches.
