Close, but it's not quite right...

Star Trek: Starfleet Command is a great game. I truly enjoyed playing it and the adventure of building a fleet of ships to put together under one command. The races are rendered wonderfully. There is one problem though...this game is definitely a board game from Star Trek with new toys that don't exist added in. I'm someone who wants it all to fit together. I just wish they hadn't added the unnecessary extra stuff to the program. It is still a wonderful game though...and definitely a blast to play with astounding graphics and sounds.

Well, bugs, bugs, an more bugs ! Fun game to play.....a little bit on the boring side at times. Game play is ok, interfact is good ( read the book!) But it a WAY TO EASY to "win" I give this a high rating because it is fun to play, an I am a big fan, but this is a game that people should take a little time with an make sure that they get the updates.

A waste of money

What were these people thinking? It's yet another pitiful game title from Interplay. It has far too many bugs to be anywhere near enjoyable. All the facts about the ships and weapons is out of date and incorrect. The Interface is also far too complicated. I strongly recommend that you don't buy this game.

This was ok, but you keep repeating the missions over and over again. The game play could be better. The graphics were ok too.

Not SFB...but kinda fun

The die-hard SFB fan (like myself) will find much of this game annoying. It tries to emulate the hex map board game's mechanics and intricacies, but at the same time appeal to the mass audience. SFB itself doesn't exactly appeal to the masses because it can take a great deal of strategy and thought. It also can take a bit of time to learn the ins and outs, as the rulebook is quite large (and intricate). SFC reduces all of this to a more mainstream "close and hose" mentality. If I had played this game without having spent 8 years first playing the Star Fleet Battles board game, then I would probably like it alot. However, the experience of SFC is soiled due to the drastic changes from SFB. The most horrendous change is that the sleek and mean looking Gorn ship has been changed for SFC to look like a hulking freighter. UGh!

If you're looking for online play of Star Fleet Battles, avoid SFC and check out SFBonline instead. It's only like $40 for a year's subscription and you can download the program directly from their website (I'm sure you can find it). Currently only tournament ships are available to play, but you can meet online and play actual SFB with some of the best players in the world.

I'm not sure what the game designers were working towards when they designed this game but it reminded me of something you might come across on Sega Genesis (that is to say, low tech and predictable).

PLEASE MAKE IT STOP!

This is the worst game ever! They make up weapons and races to try to make a stupid game interesting. It has no relation to The Star Trek Series. The missions are boring, take forever, and then you loose. If you are able to stay awake through a mission the rewards are rather lame. This game is sorry.

The best Star Trek game every

As far as gaming goes this a really great game.

I like the way one can manipulate the variety of views and create screen shots. The graphics are greats and the game play is smooth.

What I do not like is that it is modeled after Star Fleet Battles (SFB). I've played SFB in my teenage years and found it tediously boring, and not qutie in sync with real Star Trek theme. For example there is no Lyran Commonwealth in the paramount's Star Trek which is based on all the movies and the shows. There should be consistency in the industry and the story line.

This game would have been better if modeled after FASA's game "Star Trek, the Starship combat simulator" created back in the mid 80's, but now out print, because paramount shut down FASA's contract. Apparently FASA was getting a bit to creative, which I see as a double standard when you look the non existing Lyran commonwealth. The only thing FASA did was create additional ship classes for the Federation, Klingons, and Romulans and that was it.

I sorry but Star Trek vessels do not carry missiles, topeados Yes, missiles No! The game should have been named something different and have not been associated with Star Trek.
