DON'T BUY THIS GAME

I had been looking forward to this game for a long time. I just bought it and cannot find words to express my disapointment. This game had a ton of potential, but it was not realized. The thing about quidditch that was to have set it apart from soccer, basketball, and hockey is that it is 3D. Unfortunately this game is not 3D. You only control backwards/forwards and left/right motion. You do not control the vertical aspect of flight. In other words, you are for all intents and purposes on the ground. If you want to play quidditch then do yourself a favor and just play the quidditch portions of the previous harry potter games. At least then there will be something to do besides playing a watered down versions of hockey. WHY ISN'T THIS GAME 3D?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

this game just sucks the worst game ever get another game

you cant control elevation and it is unrealistic the graphics are the only good part and more options are okay but it could have been way better.I like harry potter and the other harry potter games but this 1 just really sucks so use your 30 dollars on something else such as need for speed underground

For the wee ones

I agree with most of the other reviewers here: This game was clearly designed for younger kids, with the fun, eye-candy set high and any possible frustration kept to a minimum. It's clear that EA Games just adapted a soccer-game engine, trying to minimize the three-dimensional nature of Quidditch. That, combined with the utterly predictable AI system, makes it possible for an adult player to WIPE THE FLOOR with any and all comers.

It's aggravating, really: It's not likely that there will be another version of this game made for adults with, say, an AI system worthy of the name. And EA games could have so easily created a workable 3D flying system--just use the usual WASD/three-button mouse controls from any first-person shooting game or else the independent-gravity flight engine from "Freelancer" or similar.

I demand a remake!

Quiddich, though only imaginative, is an incredible sport in concept. I was practically compelled to buy the game because of visions I had of the possibilities there, even though the reviews were lackluster. Well, turns out people were right. The passing and shooting is oversimplified, the 3D element is completely absent, and its a little too easy to steal the quaffle (i.e. the ball.) The bludgers and beaters (bat-weilding players hitting heavy balls at enemy players) were handled fairly well. The vying for special moves by accomplishing certain goals in a match is a nice touch, but another reviewer hit a chord when they compared their vision of a Quiddich video game with Madden Football. Let players compete at Hogwarts, Club (Professional), or World Cup difficulty, and let them handle the recruiting and management of a team (or even let players you had at Hogwarts play on your pro club when you move to the next level.) Let the flying be more 3 dimensional, with the chance to play as any position all the time instead of just chasers, and you could have a game that redefines sports gaming. Right now, its just a cheap shot by E.A. Games at all us Quiddich dreamers out there. $10? Yeah, its worth about that much.

Eh...

When I viewed a preview of this game I was thoroughly surprised with the graphics et cetera. When I received the game as a gift, I was most excited. About twenty minutes into the game I was bored stiff. The game is either too simple at times (I won every single one of my matches just by doing the same moves over and over again) or too confusing (there was way too many tricks to learn and comprehend whilst playing multiple positions.) I loved the whole idea of the game as well as the graphics, I just found the game too easy at times and got bored of it quite fast.

This game is kinda fun; in multiplayer. But the inadjustable AI level makes it to EASY. In perspective just unlock everything and then just play multiplayer.

BOTTOM LINE
Only buy this if you have relatives willing to play.

Fun for Potter Fans

Keep in mind I am a 26 yr. old avid gamer. So my review will be diffrent than others. But I am also a Harry Potter FAN!!! I have fun with the game.

Pros: If you like Potter and think Quidditch is the coolest idea in books, then stop reading and go buy the game now.
EA made the game, One of the top game designers, especially for sports. Music is fitting, VERY colorful and the look is captured well. It is fun (most important part of a game), I do enjoy playing. Graphics are above average, character models are ok and try to reproduce the actors (a nice touch!)

Cons: The game should be 3D and I should be able to control EVERY (up and down)direction. No Online play (come on this should be a staple now!) for 2 player you must share the keyboard (dumb), also, coming from EA, it should have had a build a character mode. Some type of customization. Like others before me said, the game had potential. Commentary is VERY repetitive. Cut scenes are nice but not needed. Need more options to control visuals, no High Definition Resolution. No adjust Difficulties!!! Too easy. Heard it gets harder but so far I win games like a 1,350 - 10 score. Menus could be WAY nicer, with mouse control and not using keys. Maybe these will be fixed in updates or a sequel! I hope! Due to the easy AI, that can hinder replay value :-(

It is targeted for the younger audience but most fans of Potter I know of are in the 20-35 range.

Have Fun!!

Not what it could be

A friend of mine suggested that this video game wasn't very good because Quidditch was an invented game, not a real game, and so it hasn't had all the flaws worked out of it through practical experience the way soccer, basketball football and the like have over time. That may be true, but I think Quidditch could be a great game, but Electronic Arts just didn't put the effort into it that they could.

My biggest complaint is that Quidditch is clearly designed to be a 3-dimensional game with players able to fly right left, forward and backward, and up and down. In the video game, the up and down flight is automatic and out of the players' control. This really just turns it into a weird version of soccer which it shouldn't be.

The other flaw is in the AI. It's just too easy, and the opponents aren't good enough at the game. In all fairness, the game was designed for a younger age group and for younger kids it probably is close to the right difficulty to make it challenging but not frustrating. Electronic Arts could have spent more time on the AI and offered people a few difficulty levels to make the game more challenging for older players, or for younger players who succeeded at the easy level and wanted to keep playing with a new challenge.
If EA were to revisit Quidditch in the future, and they fixed the Up down element and made the opponents tougher, I'd be willing to try again before writing off Quidditch as a poorly thought out sport. I still think Rowling was on to a great idea with the game, it just hasn't been done right for gamers.

Easy!!!

When I started to play this game it seemed like a lot of fun. But after the same repetetive gameplay over and over, It started to get very boring. The game idea is good, but there is no altitude control, and it is just way too easy. It isn't worth playing the World Cup over again with the different team because it will just be the exact same thing.
I have never considered myself very good at sports games, but at this game, i can easily cream the other team 500 to 0.

Ok, but could be SO much better

This game was fun at the beginning, but then it just got to be doing the same against the same teams over and over and over. If i were you, i would just rent it from blockbuster, after you have played for 1 hour and a half, itll be boring and you can return it. They should have added an online play feature, so you could play against other teams. i dont really recomend it for you because it is very boring after a while. (...)
