I'm currently playing the incredible Resident Evil 4 so I decided to pick up the Resident Evil and Resident Evil 0 two-pack. I had never played these upon their release. I was a bit disappointed that all the set really contains is the original two games with no special double case or any new artwork. In fact the versions supplied contain the ugly "Player's Choice" banners on each.

If you haven't played these yet the price is right for the two-pack but I see no other reason for the purchase....

Two for the price of $30

Drop it bad zombie! I'm 32 years old and love sticking with my Nintendo. I also love games with Blood, guns, decapitations, gore, disgusting visuals and amazing graphics that only the New Resident Evil 4 surpasses. Resident Evil and Resident Evil Zero is a good deal, especially for newbies who have not yet had a chance to experience them yet. Although both of these games have been released for some time, the people who let them slip by can buy them in this must have 2-pak!

First of all, forget what you know about Nintendo, this is not for the kiddies! This terrifc 2 pak collection of the Original includes the massive revamped remake Resident Evil and the solid sequel Resident Evil Zero. And even today, you can only play them on Gamecube. Not XBOX, Not PS2, only on Mario's machine!

People have said "well, if you played the original Resident Evil, why bother with these". First of all, that statement is false. Resident Evil is NOT a port! This game was developed from the ground up. Although a remake of the PSone Original which was made back 1997, this Cube version has been totally revamped and uses the graphical prowess of the Gamecube. When I bought this game nearly over 2 years ago, it sucked me in and I couldn't believe how pretty (and gross) the game looked. For being 32 years old, I can laugh at the one released on Playtation original, it fails in comparison to this redone masterpiece. In fact, calling it a "port" would be very insulting. There are also a few added scenes and surprises that are only in the remake on the Cube which I won't give away. Guess you'll just have to play it to see what turns up. What sucks me in with this title is the atmopshere, It's still one of the scariest viddo games ever created. The storyline, cinematic presentation and the feeling of being alone, it really doesn't get any better than the Original Resident Evil.

This is still one of finest looking Gamecube games I've ever seen even in Feb of 2004 and Zero is in the same class. Only Resident Evil 4 (recently released) looks better.

Both Resident Evil and Zero has always been about giving you the sense of being alone and having a spooky dark atmosphere. Both games lives up to the Resident Evil Tradition and makes the previous installments look second rate next to it. 2 years later, amazing, it still is one of the best looking games around. Capcom lavished this game with elegant paintings, gigantic marble statues, hardwood and marble flooring with well-designed carpets and shadowy lighting schemes that now sets a standard how a game like this should look. Any gamer would appreicate the time they spent on these two must have Gamecube titles.

Resident Evil Zero is a bit different from Resident Evil. Without giving much away, I'll say you can take control of 2-Different characters during much of the game. Many times you'll become seperated from your counterpart and with the magic of games, you can switch to the other guy (or girl), take control, and work together to get out of a situation. It's a different take on the series, but it kept it from getting stale and with the release of the unbelievable Resident Evil 4, I can only hope things continue to improve. Both games are pretty long, but hardcore gamers may finish them both in 30 hours or less. But the game is so fun and entertaining, you might want to play them both over and over.Keep up the good work Capcom, and thank Nintendo for allowing blood and guts on their sun shiny system!

Resident Evil LIVES! Turn out the Lights........

I loved the first Resident Evil on the Nintendo gamecube. I thought that the graphics and effects were amazing. I was scared more on that game than any game I've ever played. ( Including Fatal Frame ) Great jump moments and just the new, clear atmosphere made for an extra fright. Along with the game came New areas to Explore, new items, and same old puzzles revamped which led to Light-less hours of intrique. Best part of playing this game was playing it in the dark with no lights on around you. I refused to play this game with any lights on, cause I felt that just killed the whole mood. Night play only if you want to see why this game rules.

Resident Evil 0 I didn't like as much. I was so excited when it first came out, I was in line before the store opened. Upon playing it, I just didn't like the whole "Tag-Team" essence it carried with it. Switching between characters and having to keep the other one alive. The computer would often make stupid mistakes which would cost us both our lives. That and no save boxes. Now, I know that's done to improve skill and try something different, I guess I just got too spoiled by 1, 2, 3, and Code Veronica that it was a complete, and kinda dissapointing shock. The graphics are bar-none awesome. gameplay for me on this game was just hard to get through. Never finished it to date. Hope you enjoy none-the-less. Resident Evil still is going strong!

You can probably find both these games used at a video store for a whole lot less than any online two pack. That being said, the remake of Resident Evil 1 is one of the best games that came out on gamecube. It's definitely worth owning. It's got the awkward camera of the original, but pre-rendering the backgrounds allowed them to build character models that almost stand up today... the graphics look really really clean for how dated the game is. To give you an idea, the opening cinema with the dogs outside the mansion, is the exact video they used in Resident Evil Umbrella chronicles, that just came out for wii. I enjoyed this game a lot more than resident evil 4, it's got a much more serious tone... you get survival horror rather than ninja/action garbage. 1 is great, I never messed with zero at all.
