Not quite what I expected.

I love pinball and I knew that this game would satisfy aportion of the pinball urge I get from time to time. I have a GBcolor and I realize that this game is compatible with GB/pocket & color (all 3 platforms). Color users be warned -- it ain't in color. The other thing I want to share is that this game is not very smart. There are only three different pinball games, and none of them are very exciting. There is no multiball action, no cool ramps, and no way to save your high scrores. The high scores will save during your game play, but once you turn your GB off, then you've lost your score...bogus?..I say yes.

I gave this game 3 stars because the 3 levels are kind of fun and I've wasted time playing them with some minor level of enjoyment. Don't be disappointed...I warned you. If you want really cool pinball, I guess you'll have to do what I do: go to the arcade. Happy gaming!

Like pinball? Have a gameboy? You would think you would want this. You don't. Cheap graphics, awful screen scrolling, and atari type sound make for a almost zero fun experience. Whether you like the liscenses or not, you'd be better of with Pokemon, Little Mermaid, or Kirby pinball. Kirby is not a game boy color title but worth it if you can still find it.

I am really into pinball games. This one is great. It has different pinball games in it. The only thing wrong with it is it doesn't keep my high scores.

So-so at best.

"Pinball Dreams" really isn't all that bad, considering it's an old title (for the original Gameboy--it will of course play on any Gameboy system) and made with an old engine. In its day, it was probably pretty decent even. But times and programming have advanced significantly since then, and this title just can't hold a candle to any of the newer titles. Graphics are pretty amateur-looking, table design just isn't very fun, the ball physics are mediocre at best, and you cannot save high scores, a major disappointment since beating a long-standing record score is a major reason I play pinball in the first place. I have tons of PC pinball games (along with two full-sized actual tables from the '70s), and one thing I really like is setting a record score and entering the date I did it, and then watching that record stand for several years in some cases (providing I don't need a hard drive reformat). Most newer Gameboy pinballs do allow for high score storage--this one does not. I'd recommend this particular game only if you are a collector. If you're just looking for a fun time, I'd recommend just about any other Gameboy pinball game over this one. "Kirby's Pinball Land" is probably the best of the original type (loaded with fun and seemingly never-ending things to accomplish), "Pokemon Pinball" for GBC, and "Pinball Of The Dead" for GBA.

Average Gameboy edition of an originally awesome pinball game

Pinball Dreams, was originally released on the Commodore Amiga, and it was an awesome pinball game. Then a PC version was made, it was still awesome. A SNES version was also released, it was a bit inferior but still excellent But... the GB version is just... average. First, they removed one table from the PC/Amiga/SNES versions (Beat Box), but it was my least favourite table so it's not a big problem. But on the other tables, only Ignition is almost as good as the originals (they didn't remove anything). The other 2 tables lack a lot of great features that were on Amiga/PC/SNES versions. They removed ALL the ramps !!!! Why ? Where are the "spin" bonuses on Steel Wheel ? Why is there only ONE bumper on Graveyard (originally "Nightmare" on Amiga/PC/SNES) and where is the 100K-250K-500K etc... loop bonus ? It could have been a great pinball game, but it's just average. So if you really really can't get the PC/Amiga/SNES version... get this one. But if you can, get one of them. If you already have the Gameboy version, and you don't like it, try the others. 100% improvement guaranteed ! I give it 3 stars because it's not a bad game. But compared to the PC/Amiga/SNES versions, it's not great.
