first impressions

i haven't been playing this game long, so my opinion is subject to change, but so far i think it's got some really cool ideas.

i would recommend that people looking for a fast paced action game should stay away from Hitman 2. Sure, you CAN go into a situation guns blazing, Doom style.. but you won't last very long. So far, i've been dreading any time in this game where it even LOOKS like i may have to use force against someone. because i know that many guards will follow.

However.. stealth isn't at all easy to maintain. i think every guard in the game was secretly handed a picture of you without you knowing it, because no matter how careful you are.. no matter what disguise you have, they will instantly recognise you. In fact, i haven't noticed too much of a change in wearing a disguise vs. not wearing one.. almost all of them instantly make you as a foe. this is frustrating, and it makes the game very very difficult. but it's also a big part of the game's charm. it makes you think of better methods of accomplishing your goal.

a lot of talk in these reviews is about the save-games. i never played the first Hitman, but i don't think it's a good idea to use the save games in this one. one wrong move can cost you the mission, and you may not even know it until a few minutes later. i say it's best to play the missions straight through without saving. the game will auto-save in between missions.

all in all, i'd say this game rocks, and if you like games like Deus Ex and Thief, or if you want to try a different kind of shooter, then i'd say this is a good purchase.

the only thing keeping this from getting the full 5 stars is the overly intelligent A.I.
it would be nice to sneak by at least one or two people effectively.. but on the other hand.. that facet of the game alone might knock the replay value up a few points.. just to see if you can get your stealth score higher than last time.

epitome of culutural insensitivity

The Sikh community is appalled by images and text in
the sniper-themed videogame "Hitman 2" portraying Sikhs being killed within their most prominent temple, the Harimander Sahib, also known as the Golden Temple. Eidos 's choice to target a specific religious group in Hitman 2 is not only socially irresponsible, but also potentially dangerous to Sikhs worldwide, as their turbans have made them the focus of backlash attacks in the post-September 11th environment. By focusing on a religious minority and setting the violence in their sacred shrine, Hitman 2 mindlessly encourages racial and religious prejudice. I cannot allow videogame developers to use sacred religious settings to promote killings and intolerance. This game is an embarrassment to the entertainment industry-- DO NOT BUY

First od all, this game is not exciting, it is dull, not interesting, it crashes a lot, loading and saving are not easy, the missions and not well prepared, contain lots of mistakes, it is not amusing to spend 4 or more levels chasing in the desert.
Action games are not for Eidos, I'd prefer others like Medal of honor, or return to castle wolfenstein and others...

... They have fixed the background so you dont see the same thing beyond the level. it has updated graphics and a more in depth plot then the first. ... its real for either those long missions or the first players that are starting to play. I have the first hitman and i loved that game, it was one of the most realistic games i've ever played. This will be 10 times better, better music better gameplay, better graphics. In each country you go to the people there speak there own language which adds to the realism. ...

Cant wait for this one

I am so happy to see that a part 2 is going to be out for Hitman,. I loved part one. I have not played this one yet, so I can not say to much about this title, but part 1 rocks. I liked it!

I loved the first game. I am expecting a lot from hitman 2 the previews and screen shots of the game looks very promising. The preview said Hitman 2 will have limited saves for levels, much better interface and a first person option also. Cant wait to get Hitman 2.

I just installed Hitman 2 and have to say it is possibly the worst game I have ever played. The developers need to go back to school on this one, the controls are terrible! Playing this game is so frustrating, camera angles are terrible, movement also sucks. Worst of all, selecting weapons and "using" items just plain DOESN'T WORK!!! If you enjoy watching your character get shot dozens of times while you try to figure out why the game won't select you weapon, then I guess this is the game for you. Give this one a pass it just sucks bad - only positive thing is I got it free with my sound card, I'm giving this one away - actually that would be cruel, better off making this CD a drink coaster.

Initially it will appear to be a great game which will keep you glued to your pc for hours. You will play missions several times because you continue to fail them. You try shooting quicker, later, taking different routes etc. until you find the path that was meant to be taken. There in lies the problem, there is pretty much a set path you must take to complete the missions. On about the sixth mission, I have tried absolutely everything and cannot pass it. I got tired of replaying the same mission dozens of times to find the correct path.

Could have been a great game but I've already uninstalled it due to frustration. Extremely scripted, very little AI.
