BTVS Fans will Love IT!

This game stays true to the series and the voice overs are great! The story line is pretty good and brings back some great baddies! I would recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of BTVS. Others may or may not enjoy it. Some levels are very simple and others are rather difficult to complete. I don't play the game as much as I used to but even when I played for hours on end I still never got through the entire game. Maybe I'm just slow, but overall it was weel worth the money paid.

Must get for ANY buffy fan

This Game is a MUST for any Buffy fan going through No eighth season withdrawl. I've read about the storyline it's great it takes place during season five which is better then playing way back in Season Three/Two. The screenshots are awesome and there should be way more features and all of the cast expect for Sarah Lead their voices and the girl who voices Buffy has a similar voice so it's not so annoying. BUY IT!!!!!

Best Buffy Game

Granted, i've only played this buffy game, but it is wicked sweet.
first of all, the graphics are great, i don't know why people say their only mediocre, but i think they are really impressive. The highschool looks just like it did in the show. The voice overs are really good i thought, all except for anya, she was just not right for the part. The only person who can play anya correctly is emma caulfield. in most of the reviews i read, people were bagging on the person who did willow's voice, saying it was only mediocre, but i thought it was pretty good. when i first started the game i thought it was alyson playing the part, it took a while to remember that everyone was saying it wasn't alyson doing it. the girl that does buffy is really good, it sounds almost exactly like her. Obviously the the voices, of giles, xander, tara, faith, spike, and sid are all right on.
the fighting in the game is really cool, and once again i have to disagree with some of the reviewers that say the fighting sucks cause sometimes you end up attacking the air. but the reasson your attacking the air is because your not facing the right direction. i think it's better to play a game that doesn't just atomatically hit someone even if your facing the opposite way.
but seriously, i must be video game retartded because in some of the levels, i couldn't figure out what to do with things until i looked at a walkthrough. like when you get a uv light, i assume it's to kill the vamps, you know uv light=sun light. but no, your supposed to use it to see something on a room that looks totally useless. Some of the things they wanted you to do im surprised anyone could figure them out.
i just wish that when you play the solo game, that you could pick who you wanted to be, not who they make you be. Faith is the ultimate salyer in my opinion, both in the game and in the show. it just seemed that her kicks and punches were better executed and damaged the enemy more and her one liners are so cool, they sound like something Faith really would say. Buffy herself is a terrific fighter, but her one liners tend to bug you, like someone was grinding broken glass into you nerves. After the slayers i would have to say that spike would be the next best (i haven't finished the game yet so im kinda just takin it all on guess here). Xander is after spike. His one liners are equal to faiths, but his fighting ability definately is not. he fights good despite his lack of slayerness, but his jokes more than make up for it. the person i really don't like playing very much is willow. You can't hit or kick anything without using her magi, which drains her magic power. i think she's pretty weak. the cool thing about her is her magic though. you can set the vamps on fire and other things. the reason why i kinda don't like her spells is cause you spend your time trying to do them, and while your trying to do that, you get totally beat down. the funniest player to play, hands down, is sid. the sound of his feet running on the floor is so funny, and his fists of furry dice up the skeleton things.
the enemys that you fight are pretty smart, they gang up on you like they would if this were real.
all in all the game is really cool, even though, like other reviewers said, the gmae got kinda repetitive in the fighting after a while.

xoxo
faith is the one tru (forgive the pun) slayer

Fun in the Sun

You may remember in the first Buffy Game sunlight was a useful tool to kill a vampire. Both Buffy and Angel TV shows have stayed true to the ancient Vampire folk law.
But 'Vivendi Universal' seem to have forgotten or overlooked this in Chaos Bleeds.
I was enjoying the game, the graphics are great, the fight system fun. I couldn't get enough of staking vamps.
I was working my way through levels. I was excited to see I was the very sexy Faith. I began fighting vamps on the side of a cliff at a quarry. I kicked a vamp off the side of the cliff, and as the camera turned. I saw...... the SUN. I was outside. In full sun. An i can only imagine i was fighting some vamps with pretty amazing sun lotion on. After passing this level, Faith and I wondered around an old house. in front of me was a grand stair case, beautiful sun rays streaming into the window. Behind me 2 vamps were running at me. I made for the stair case....planning on getting the sun between me and the vamps. Excited at my ingenuity. I could almost smell their bodies burn. But yet again. Nada. No crispy vamp.
I found the game from this point on disappointing.
As a fan, i played on, only to unlock the special feature that were a treat.
The game was fun. The lack of respect for the material disappointing.

Excellent game overall.

If you are a Buffy fan, this game will provide you hours of absolute glee. The characters all look great, and there are real differences in their abilities.

Most of the other reviews caught the issues about who did what voice, and how well -- so I'll leave that out.

One strange thing is that there are vampires in sunlight on some levels; but I imagine this is simply an effect of the parallel dimension created by The First -- in which much of the game takes place.

My only gameplay grip is the following: in many situations, the "targeting" can get a bit off. You turn to attack a vamp, and end up targeting a box, or a wall. This allows said vamp(s) to punch you in the back, and other such nasty things. In general, though, this isn't so bad as to get you killed. In any case, it doesn't cause the game to be less enjoyable ultimately.

Those Dead Guys, They're So Fragil!

Alrighty, let me just say that I am waiting to get my X-Box so's I can play the original "Buffy" game, which in turn, got rave reviews. Now, onto the "Chaos Bleeds" review...

My one huge "Grudge"(tee-hee) about this game is that it isn't about Buffy. Well, it is, but it isn't, you know? You HAVE to play as the other cast members, which gets kind of annoying. Willow cannot fight, and remembering the whimpy spells is boring, but I suppose it "boasts the difficulty level". And, thankfully, there are a decent sized portion of Buffy levels.

The graphics are insatiable. I mean, the way the stone door in level 2 looks is amazing. I mean, the shadow of the trees reflect on it and it is just immaculate. Whew! And, Buffy looks like Buffy. Willow looks like Willow (kind of) but her eyes look like bug eyes. Faith is cool looking, too.

There's nothing scarrier than alternate dimensions, and thankfully, Vivendi Universal and Eurocom have captured Sunnydale perfectly and destroyed it (referring to the "Downtown Sunnydale" level). I mean, it looks just like the TV show! I love the school level (except for the fact it's a Xander level). And, the way you can end a Vampire's life is awesome. Whether it is the old-fashioned Stake to the heart or your throwing the Vamp onto a broken bench, you can almost bend the enviornment to meet your slaying needs. It's really awesome.

The cast of the TV show does the voices, but Sarah Michelle Gellar is missing. >tear<. Thankfully they had a wonderful stand-in (Giselle Loren. Whom, by the way, is rumored to be supplying the "Buffy" voice once again in the upcoming animated "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" series). I mean, on some lines, you can tell it isn't Buffy. On countless others, you have to REALLY listen to note the difference.

All in all, this is a really great action/adventure game. I LOVE the "Buffy" tv show, and I love the "Tomb Raider" games. They have found a way to cross-breed these two. It is very fun, very detailed, and very intresting. I recommened this to anyone who does/doesn't like the Buffy-verse. HOWEVER: I advise anyone who just wants to play only as the blonde-bombshell of a Slayer herself to at least rent this to see if it craves your Buffy appetite. Trust me, you might get disappointed if you only want Buffy. This game does justice to the show in it's prime, and fans of the show agree, we wouldn't want it any other way!

Back to the bargin bin with ya!

Don't be tempted when you see it in the bargin bin. It's there for a reason. I read reveiws before buying it, but figured for $20 the problems people consistently mentioned couldn't be THAT bad. So, I got this game for my girlfriend who loves the show. I like the show enough that a game based on it interested me.

Good news: The story and dialogue are exactly what a Buffy fan would want from a Buffy game. The ability to play as Sid is great -- except that it only lasts one level. I liked playing as different characters, since playing as Buffy got repetative.

Bad news: The game uses backtracking to increase the amount of time you spend playing. By the zoo level, we lost our patience and found a walkthrough online. I guess we were supposed to know that we had to grab the top of an automatic fence as it lifts up to get to the other side of a room??? Yes, my girlfriend and I got a cheap thrill by 'beating' the game by cheating. By that point we were tired of the game's poor camera and ditzy fighting engine, which makes the game approach 'unplayable' at certain points. In fact, the camera is so disfunctional that it prevents you from even using the many fighting moves that the characters all have. Since the camera was always changing, so were the directions I was supposed to be pushing on the stick.... And don't even get me started about trying to use an item in the middle of a fight -- scrolling thru the inventory while being punched in the head by toothy, spikey demons is as hard -- and annoying -- as it sounds.

Rent this game and spend a week playing it to unlock the extras. It's a shame that the extras are better than the game, but I guess hardcore Buffy fans might not care (though, my girlfriend did).

Made me feel in Sunnydale

Oh come on!! How can someone complain about this game? It's really addicting and put us inside the Buffy verse. There is a lot of people that go crazy with the camera, the inventory, the combos and the puzzles.. I think they just don't know how to play. The action is not that hard and it's so cool. I loved playing with Faith and Willow! I didn't have any problem with the game but the puzzles are really hard, which is a good thing because they made me think a lot to get to the end.
The only bad thing is the multiplayer, which is awful. And the ending was too small.. overall I recommend it to anyone who likes action games and it is a must to any Buffy fan.

Not a multiplayer game.

I think they did a fine job implying that you could play this game with more than one person. It is only the case if you want to play the rediculous side games, the game itself can only be played solo. The websites description of the game does not specify this, and neither do any of their trailers. Pretty lame.

The game isn't the best but it is far from being the worst I've ever played. While it was semi-challenging, it was very entertaining and true to series. The voice overs were well done by the actors portraying Buffy, Willow and Anyanka. As the others said though...Buffy (fabulous, five stars), Willow (3 stars, the voice was good but the actress obviously dislikes Willow as she made her sound like an utter moron but then Alyson Hannigan does have a distinctive voice), and Anya (0 stars, no other comments needed). The humour was there and I found myself smiling at most of the self-deprecating quips that accompany the actions. I'm not a graphics specialist but they seemed alright. All in all, the game is worth buying, especially if you are a fan. Hey, the series is over but the show goes on. Gotta get those BTVS.
