Activision is writing the good reviews!

Don't be fooled by the long detailed and positive reviews. Donna Johnston from NY is listed in the credits of all the Cabela titles as the QA Lead. Why is she giving her review on the games she worked on which you see on every Cabela game? It looks like Activision is paying their employees to write reviews for them. This game has poor graphics and is tedious and boring. There are much better hunting games out there. Don't waste your money on their falsely advertized garbage.

Made in Romania!

Do they even have hunting or know anything about it in Romania? They cleary don't know much about it which explains why your run out of breath after five seconds in the game and have to walk painfully slow 90% of the time. Also you can walk around while you shoot which my dad would kick my ass for doing. It turns out Cabela's Big Game Hunter, Cabela's Deer Hunt 2004, and Cabela's Dangerous Hunts for the Playstation 2, Xbox, and PC versions are all made in Romania. No wonder Sunstrom, the originator of the game went out of business here in Indiana. I was so pissed I returned this pile of garbage. Any self respecting American should do the same, or not buy any of these games in the first place. You think they could at least make a hunting game in the states. I'm going to wait for Deer Hunter on the Playstaion 2 which is made in the good ole U.S.A. plus the PC version is way better than Cabela's.

Worst game I've ever purchased

The concept of this game is terrific. The execution is someting else entirely. The controls are stupifyingly bad. It is nearly impossible to control the gun and aim. For some reason the games creators didn't think it important for a hunter to be able to control his or her's gun. You can get dizzy from this. The camera just goes round and round. You can never see the animal sneaking up on you. It's even difficult to see the animal when they're attacking you. I would really like a good hunting game. Let me know when someone makes one. This certainly isn't it.

BLOWS!!!

There are no wide open areas to hunt in. The whole time you play you have a mountain wall that you can't walk up on both sides of you. The graphics are dull, washed out, and a very low resolution. I had to check the box and make sure I didn't buy a Playstation One game. There is only one tree on every hunting area and it is repeated everywhere. Same thing with the grass. The animals do not look very real and animate very poorly. When the animals turn it looks like they are rotating on a single point, like they are on a spinning platform on the ground. The animals don't act realistically like you would expect. It feels a lot like hunting animal robots. The quick hunting is also really strange. You shoot an animal and a portal appears like you are hunting on a Star Trek holodeck. When you walk through it you have to wait for the game to load. This goes on reapeatedy, portal, loading etc. Not exactly the real experience I was looking for. On top of everything else the controls are horrible. It is really hard to aim and move your hunter. Plus, when an animal attacks your the view pops to a new location and you get completely disoriented. This is a horrible, horrible game.

First off let me say anyone whos ever been on any kind of hunting trip or knows anything about hunting at all will bash their system with a sledge hammer after playing this game. I can understand being attacked by a Grizzly Bear or a Mountain Lion but White Tail Deer?!? Come on! Why equip yourself with any hunting gear we all you have to do is buy every tag, haul arse thru the woods, and shoot the first thing that attacks you. Be sure your carrying something fully automatic though cause you need it to hit the animal. Alot of ppl are defending this game saying its fun to mow down animals that attack you. It only takes one shot to kill them. Yippy, one shot....after running thru a straight valley for 10 minutes that you cant get out of. Might be different if your ran into 50 Rhinos and you had a Stinger missle launcher or something. To anyone whos thinking of buying this game, DON'T. It sucks in almost every way possible.

LOADING....LOADING....LOADING....LOADING....LOADING....

The game is very frustrating. With the default equipment you get tired very quickly with every character. I know they are trying to be realistic but realistically you would need a truck to carry half the basic set of equipment. You get tired just walking up a little hill and you walk extremely slow most of the time. The hunting areas are really small, it is like hunting in somebody's backyard. You can easily trap the animals against the hills and they run in circles until you kill them, which is not much of a challenge. You also have to wait for the game to load all the time. You walk just a few hundred feet and then have to wait for the LOADING..... To further add to the frustration, you frequently slide down the smallest hill and it says you are too injured to go on, and yes, you guessed it, more of that LOADING.... Also, if you walk or slip into the water you can't get out and guess what, yes, you guessed it again, LOADING.... Like if that was not enough, you will get in trouble for shooting near a building. You do it twice and, oh, the suspense is killing you, I know it.... LOADING..... ARRRGAHHH!!!! I could go on, and, well, I think I will. When you use the vehicles they are really hard to drive. Most of the time I get stuck in trees or drive off a cliff or into the water and LOADING.... They should change the name of this game to Cabela's LOADING.... All I wanted to do was some hunting. My final thought is RETURNING.....

The graphics and gameplay are night and day better in Deer Hunter.

Realistic hunting?

About 2 weeks ago I rented Cabela's Deer Hunter 2004. The game is truly a challenging and quite realistic hunting experience. I am planning on buying it soon. That's how much I enjoyed the game. Then I decided to rent Dangerous Hunts to see if it was as good as Deer Hunter '04. Let me tell you I was deeply disappointed. While the environmental graphics should be applauded, the animal graphics are less than desirable. I was truly disappointed in how easy it is to kill a predator. Just run and make as much noise as you can and soon the blocky predator will come running toward you. Lift your gun and shoot it. Sounds simple, right? It is. Even in hard mode.
The variety of weapons to choose from is very good, but lets face it, why do you need them? Especially when you can kill each predator the exact same way with any one of the guns.
After barely one hour of turning this game on I was bored. Simply put. I wouldn't waste my money on this title. I wouldn't even rent it unless it was the last game on the shelf.

I give this game a 2 ONLY because when you kill

or get killed blood and pieces go everywhere. hunting is boring wi tha semi auto rifle why just dosnt the game let you attract all the animals near you and then pull out an ak 47 or a bazooka that would be entertainment.Kids like me these days want blood and death in video games not skill and patience, but pointless unneccesary deaths everywhere!Woulnt it be greAT if you could see a peaceful bunny rabbit grazing and the to fire a rocket launcher at it? i think so.or if a rhino is charging, you just pull ot a flamethrower or something. The point is, this game needs more death. and it should let you use overly exotic and elaborate weapons in the hunt like a WW1 chain gun. THIS GAME NEEDS MORE DEATH AND EXCITEMENT THEN IT WOULD BE A 10
