MUCH better than the original!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 22 / 24

Unlike many sequels, this game is MUCH better than the original. The squad based play is great, you can control any of your squad members depending on the level and what you need to do. The buttons are pretty straight forward and easy to learn, and the objectives for each level are only a select button away if you forget what you need to do. It also checks off the objectives you've done so you don't end up trying to accomplish the same objective twice.
I haven't made it to the ending yet, so I don't know if the ending is any good or not. I do wish they'd have let you capture or kill Saddam, but in real life he escaped Baghdad so he might as well have escaped here too.
There's a variety of weapons to use, including smoke grenades when you need to hide behind some cover (VERY useful on the levels when you encounter tanks which can only be destroyed by laying mines, using C4 or RPG's.)
Your squad AI is also very intelligent mostly, as is the enemy AI.
There's also an element of strategy involved with some parts of levels, and some entire levels. It's not just a straight shooter, sometimes you've got to use stealth and it makes the level easier. If you just go in guns blazing the enemy AI realizes you're there and opens up on you, which usually ends up being very bad for you and your squad, particularly if there's a tank involved.
Overall, this is a great game and a lot of fun. If you like Freedom Fighters or SOCOM or SOCOM II you'll like this game too.

Beter than SOCOM 2

Why?

Because this is the only true squad based game out there. You can control your whole team individually meaning tactics are so much better and far more satisfying when you set up a full ambush. This is not a game claiming a squad were you control one man and the rest follow like lemons this game class and this game is a must have title.

Didn't want the game to end...

I loved this game & I'm a female. I've never liked shooting games but my husband made me play this with him & boy was I glad I did. We beat it together on easy then medium & are about through hard. I've read that after you beat hard that it unlocks an extreme hard. I can't wait. My only wish is that when you paly 2 player that you could pick your weapons. It would also be if 4 player were an option but overall the game gets 5 stars. Love it. Hope they come out with another.

Awesome!!!!

We have all heard of SOCOM 2, the squad based army game. Unfortunately, this game is rated Mature, and so is the first game. Everybody wants this game because of all the great reviews, but many kids cant have Mature-rated games. Conflict: Desert Storm 2 is the SOCOM of teen games. This game really gives you the ultimate army experience. You can also be four different teammates in your special forces squad, each with their different skill. Including anti-tank weapons and sniper weapons. Another thing that makes this game great is the fact that in most missions,it is your choice wether you want to go stealthily, or just go out and shoot everyone. But its not all that easy. Set the game difficulty to hard, and you wont be laughing anymore, unless you use the skills given to you. If you are a rookie-gamer, this is a great game to play. With three different difficulty settings (easy, medium, hard)this is a game for all levels of gamers. This game really gives you the full army experience, because unless youre putting the game at a difficulty setting lower than what it should be for you, you are going to need to use all the skills you are given in order to be victorious. I will challenge whoever plays this game to try and not die once by using all your resources (smoke grenades, frag grenades, phosphorous grenades, mines, etc.) because this makes the game even more fun. Grenades, machine guns, rocket launchers, snipers; only a few of the items in the game. I recommend this game if you like tactical shooting games or if you want to try a new game genre.

Just received this, play it on the XBOX. Have played Desert Storm to death but still go back to it as its great fun and challengeing just to do it better than last time. DS2 is even better! better graphics better areas to fight in, the progressive objectives are a good idea, changeing as you go through the game, a better use of vehicles also expands the game. Still working my way through to open the tough level, looking forward to that. Only one gripe so far, on mission 2, I was waiting for my team to rally around the vehicles to finish the objective and Foley was not doing the biz, I found that he had jumped out off a snipers position and landed with both feet into baskets of corn on the ground where he could not be set free, I had to get Bradley to kill him then revive him to make him move, it just added to the game trying to figure out how to do things, How about a black hawk down version of this game or as a down load, even though the scenario is quite limited, having the other teams as seperate entities would be good.

A good squad- based 3rd person shooter

I have never played the first Conflict, but this one ROCKS!From the minute you play this game you'll be hooked. The graphics are preety detailed.Action is deep and fast paced. There are occasional glitches in the game like you'll get stuck to something , but it dosn't happen often. Enemy A.I. is smart enough to take cover and throw grenades at you. The commands and button configuration is preety solid and straight forward. The training in single player helps out alot.If you like 3rd person squad-based action games I suggest this one.KICK IRAQI ASS !!!

My brother and I LOVED the 1st game, and are floored by the exceptional play of this one. The street to street fighting, higher enemy AI, and new weapons make this game a must buy. The levels are much bigger in CDS II, there are more rooms to clear, and weapons are more spread out. There's no better feeling than hearing an explosion behind you and knowing enemy soldiers just got smoked by the claymore you left behind.

The only disapointment was the ending, kind of anticlimactic.

I hope they keep coming out with these games.

Conflict Kicks!!!

Easy?? Short?? Put this bugger on hard mode from the get go, try not to have a player go MIA, and see how easy it is. I had entire missions take over 90 minutes. Awesome game play that keeps you thinking. Amazing detail that's much improved over the first version. Lots of interesting detail too. I got a kick out of watching the tracer rounds glow off the ground and the dust kicking up as you crawl. Was glad I didn't have to escort any "unarmed" scientists this time around. Loved the enemy A.I. but wish the tanks moved around a bit more. Fun to load 1 character down with everyones weapons and go it alone too. A must play!!!
