Def Jam Vendetta was one of the best games of 2003, the returning game is even more better. You can know create your own player, authenticate him with a voice, and take him to stages to earn more money as one of D-Mobs crew member. Another new feature is the Cash District mode, where you can go to SUS and buy some fresh gear, including Reebok, Ecko, Air Jordan, Fila and many more. You can also get a hair cut or upgrade at the Barber shop. And for the blings, you can visit Jacobs and Co, which is actually a real jewellry retail department, and chose from platnium, silver and gold chains, watches and braclets, all the way to 10 carat diamond studs.
On the plus side, you got celebrities like Omar Epps, Jacob, Snoop Dogg and Carmen Electra, who are all playable. And other characters new to the game like Busta Rhymes, Fat Joe, Freeway, Memphis Bleek, Xzibit, Ice T, L'il Kim, Sean Paul will be regular faces in the storylines. Returning characters are, Ludacris, Method Man, Redman, D-Mob, Joe Budden and other Def Jam stars. DMX will not be included because Def Jam South won't be a part of the storyline. An overall of 40 characters will be in the game, all will their original voices and gears.

If you liked the first one, which was a major hit last year, you'll like this. To new comers, play the first game to get with the storyline, otherwise it'll be senseless. Although some of the biggest stars didn't make the cut this year (DMX, Ja Rule, Eminem, D 12, Nas, Jay-z, Puff Daddy, Shyne, J.lo, Outkast, R.Kelly, Foxy Brown, Chingy, Nelly, Nate Dogg, LL Cool J and many more), the game remained to be entertaining.

If there is a sequel, which there probably be if this game becomes a hit, the storyline should be Def Jam vs the World, (Aftermath, Murder Inc., Rocafella, Bad Boy, DTP, G-Unit and the classic Boogie Down Productions) in which it will revolve around record label clashes. The game should also include Hip Hop's legends roster, like Notorious B.I.G, Big Pun, Krs One, LL Cool J, Public Enemy, Ice Cube, Dr.Dre, Nas and as the villian, Suge Night. And all unregognizeable, created characters like BQ, Nyne and Cruz shouldn't make the cut.

Def Jam Fight for NY was probably the best fighting game this year had to offer, with this years hit songs, new matches, new chracter, celebrities, 5 gameplays and creating your own player, as well as customizing. I recommend this to anyone who loves hip hop, fighting games, and hell, whipping some ass.

Get this, it's some hot s@#$!!!!

Well I went into blockbuster one day and saw one copy left of thise game so I rented it and I think they did a really good job with the story and how you can use the money you win from fights and purchase cloths and jewelry and when you get farther on in the story which is kinda short but alot longer than the first one. Whel you unlock more and more cloths and jewelry and they even have tatoos which look really cool, you pick a tatoo and can pick how detailed it is like stage one is kinda cheap and they get better but more expensive and if thats not enough you can pick up weapons from the crowd ya thats right the crowd is alot better you can use them to just lay your opponents and hold the person while you punch them in the stomach, so back to the weapons they put alot of work into them and different arenas have different weapons like a biker bar will have beer bottles and pool ques while the junk yard will have sledgehammers and wrenches.Oh ya and there are rappers in the game like snoop dogg, redman, method man and so on it didn't really excite me because you can just use your own character that you created in story in arcade to play one of your friends but I know there are some rap fans out there that will like it. Whel I think I have said enough if you think you might like it rent it first then if you really like it go out and buy it.

oh my god

this game is off the hook. At first i thought it would not be good becuz of all the ppl in it and thought the idea of hip hop artists may not work. but boy was i wrong. this game has the best storyline i have ever seen in a fighting game. great voice overs by the artists. create-a-player is one of the best I've seen. This is a funny, serious and fun game. Multi-player is what really matters in a fighting game, this game doesn't dissapoint. it has fun multiplayer modes like demolition match and free for all. And its 4-player. Also at first i was never into music, but after playing this game and listening to the music, iwas like whoa this is great, so now i lsten to joe budden all the time.

GOOOOD!!!

Since I am a huge rap fan, I heard about this game on BET so I rented it. This is probably my 3rd favorite game. The fighters are very realistic such as the fact that they are bleeding when they are hurt. The only thing I didn't like was that you can't be someone like Ludacris in story mode. But it's goooood!

rakim vs canibus, eminem vs fred durst or tupac vs nas

This game is fun on so many levels. The fighting styles are no virtual fighter 4 but damn do they look good on screen. My favorite aspect would have to be character creation. Endless possibilities...hence the title. Darn shame there's no custom soundtracks on xbox version though.

This game was all out fun with so many styles to play and so much versatility with figher's techniques and change of clothes.
The addition of so many women was great, though a female storyline would have been great. Catfights, anyone! Games are becoming more entertaining for mature crowds, and this is one of them.
The graphics were on point, though I'd imagine they will be better on the new systems out now. Best of all, the appearences of all the celebs in this game was incredible. Good job!

An awesom game

Def Jam Vendetta: Fight For NY may appear to be an easy way for EA Games and Def Jam to make some extra cash by employing hip hop acts to star in this game. However, it is a very intricate, well thought out fighting system that transcends the button smashing of many other games. I don't think of myself as an avid gamer, but I know a great game when I play one.

The gameplay is fantastic with many fighting styles to choose from, various punch, kick and grapple combos and a very impressive create-a-fighter process. The ability to choose between, and combine up to three of five possible fighting styles is perhaps the best part of the game. Each style is unique and each combination of any number of styles results in an unique hybrid style. The graphics too are quite impressive, especially considering it is not a next generation console.

The story mode is long and satisfying, although not very flexible in that you really have no choices in what direction your player chooses, that is, you have to follow a strict story and cannot deviate from it, which detracts from the replay value. Outside of story mode this is a great game to play with friends with options of one-on-one, two-on-two and 3 or 4 player free-for-alls. There are also subway matches, window matches, inferno matches, ring-out matches, and demolition matches, which I won't talk in detail about. While the number of different matches seems impressive, it does feel as if there is so much diversity as it may appear.

I am a fan of hip hop, and although many of the characters in the game aren't very talented artists in real life, it is fun to listen to my Redman, Method Man, Erick Sermon, Ghostface etc. playlists while fighting as the character. Additionally, I enjoy creating other rappers (Gza, Chuck D, Big Daddy Kane) through the create-a-fighter mode in story mode, and although they don't perfectly resemble their real life counter part, the system is detailed enough that similarities are clear. Other than the rigidity of story mode, my only complaints are the inability to have the CPU fight as one of your created fighters and that the game has frozen a few times during story mode or i would get stuck running and not be able to move. Other than that, it is an excellent game that I would recommend to any fan of fighting consoles.

one of the best fighting games
