Challenge your abilities
(With Grand Theft Auto)

Have you ever wondered what's going though a lunatics mind when he steals a car? Well now you can because Rockstar and the crew from GTA have done it again in GTA Vice City.

I think people will like this game because of the awesome graphics, realistic game play and its one of the only games that you are a felon and not a cop, hero or something like that, but what really makes the game is the free will.

Most importantly other games restrict you to one area or you can only do missions and not what you want. With Vice City you don't have to worry about that because in Vice City you have 100% free will.

In a similar fashion to the first this game lets you run around as Tommy Vercetti a crime lord. Not a hero or a cop which has been used a lot and in this you get to see things from a different perspective.

One reason why this game is the bomb is because the music. Im not the only one that sees things this way g4 & Tech T.V. awarded this game the right to say they had #1 in a top 10 count down of best in game music.

Another really cool thing about this game is that at about $50.00 you practically steal it off the shelf, because it comes a double pack. Including a previous game and the sequel "Grand Theft Auto Three".

This game is really good. But it is rated for "M" for mature. The reason it was rated this was, Because of the strong Blood & Gore, Violence, Strong language, and Strong sexual content. This game isn't intended for younger children easily influenced.

GTA 3 is so much better; this one disappoints :-(

I'm a little late to the game because I just got my PS2 a year ago. It is impossible to rate "Vice City" without comparing it to GTA 3. GTA 3 was immediately engaging; the story was cool and the city was interesting enough to actually want to explore and look around for secret items, power-ups, etc. without having to resort to cheat codes for everyting. I must have played GTA 3 for over 100 hours easily and it never got old.
So I now finally got around to playing "Vice City" and it was instantly disappointing. Despite what other reviewers have said, I think the graphics in "Vice City" are horrible. Everything is so ugly to look at, and the graphics are so choppy it almost hurts my eyes to look at it. Besides lousy graphics, the city is really uninspired; there's nothing engaging or interesting about exploring "Vice City." Almost right away I thought, well okay maybe cheat codes will help. But even with codes, the game still sucks. The physics are terrible as well; whenever you try to punch/attack a pedestrian, you'll find yourself flailing away almost aimlessly because the physics don't make any sense.
I don't know what else I can say about "Vice City," it just seems like a really bad mod of GTA 3 and I don't understand what all the hype is about. Maybe San Andreas will be better since it took Rockstar two years to release instead of rushing to market with GTAVC. If you must play this game, just rent it and don't waste your $20 (Yes, it was that bad).
Pros:
"Bigger, Louder, Blah, Blah, Blah"
Cons:
Graphics (Horrible)
Level/City design (Uninspired and Lame)
Physics (Very Poor)
Framerate (Choppiest game I've played on PS2)
I wouldn't play this game if it was free!

Vice City absolutely amazed from the first time I played it.
It had accurate clothing styles, accurate cars, and the like...
The music was over 9 hours long and all licensed songs from 1986 and before...
I love the voice-overs and the weapons.
The AI is much better but some people will run into walls...
This is a great movie but the load times are a l'il long...

Way better than the 3rd!

This game is bigger, has more weapons, and more things to do.

You'll find yourself up late at night doing missions and killing people.

Thrilling action packed game...

Vice City is an action packed game with tons of stuff to do. From stealing cars, to putting out fires, the amount of stuff you can do in this game is endless. This game is a bit to violent for younger kids, with all of the blood and the opportunity to pick up hookers. There is so much to do in this game though, that once you have beaten the main missions, there is still a ton of side missions for you to try to complete. This game is a lot of fun and has a ton of available stuff to do.

4/5

This game is superb! The things that make this game so magnificent the great interactive aspect of this game- you can go anywhere in the city, kill anybody, steal any car, and use a huge amount of weapons that consist of such unusual ones such as a chainsaw, a machete, and knucks. My other favorite things in the game are the Radio stations, the crazy missions and many other things!

Don't you forget it!

I loved this game so much I have gone and got a second copy, mine has stopped working!
I love the feeling that an entire world lives within the game and you can always just steal a car and ride, listen to the radio and take in Vice City's many sites.
Tommy Vercetti - excellantly cast as Ray Liotta of Goodfellas fame gets out of the slammer and goes back to his turf. He gets sent to Vice City to get him out of the way because really, they don't want him around anymore and they certainly don't want to answer his questions about why he got jailed.
You can ride bikes, take cars, helicopter fly over the city, go through districts with different cultures and work for many gangs. Bikers, Columbians cops even, accompanied by a sound track that beats the heck out of any other game I've played. A radio with enough variation to keep everyone happy as they do their drive-bys and cruise looking at women.
And the talk shows! Classy touch.
The game play is smooth and with barely a bug to be seen flows from day to night and back again with the city in sync, Vice City at night is amazing, you also get weather variations and the impact of that, in the rain, bikes tend to skid more and you fall off.
It's that kind of attention to detail that means the game never grows tiresome. The hidden jumps to be done with all manner of vehicles and the taxi/paramedic, etc missions mean the game really is so open ended.
It's been three years and I'm still exploring Vice City.
Classic!

miami vice with more guns.

Following grand theft auto 3 with a full on sequel would have been nearly impossible to do so quickly without most gamers moaning that it paled in comparison to GTA 3 and tarnishing the GTA series name. With that being a given what is there to do to make money while there's money to be made but not mess up the series? Release a new game that isn't a full sequel but instead uses the same engine in a new setting with slightly tweaked graphics and tons of new vehicles and weapons!

Rockstar games have done just that and for the most part have done a great job. The voice acting is the finest in any video game to date and for the most part the story is really well paced and laid out. The new options such as expanded vehicles like motorcycles, buying real estate, and new types of missions like pizzaboy and such make the game a lot of fun even after you've finished the final mission. I finished the game a week and a half ago but still play it daily trying to find hidden packages, finish vigilante and other side missions, and get all the assets require to get 100% in the game. Replay value here is strong to say the least with 100 hours of gameplay being easy to accomplish and not get bored.

With all that being said the game does have numerous problems. Glitches abound in this game and show just how rushed rockstar was to get it out on time to make holiday money while they could. Graphics often clip worse than they did in gta3, sounds get stuck in infinite loops until you reboot occasionally, some of the character faces in the cinemas look deformed [especially tom sizemore's character sonny at the end of the game], and all kinds of little oddities pop up from time to time. Regardless though the faults are minor when you take into account the scope of the game in comparison to almost every other game out there today.

WARNING!!! HIGHLY ADDICTIVE!!!

The fun never ends with these guys, does it? I can't remember when it was so MUCH FUN BEING SO BAD!!! This game lets you do it all, and in the comfort of your own home. I just can't get enough of the high speed inner city car chases, with the police hot on my tail.

This game truly is a great way to let out all your frustrations, and have a tremendous amount of fun while doing so.

ALways remember though, this is a game, not reality. I would never even think about doing the illegal things in this game out in real life! But, Im sure you know that already.

Have a blast with this game, just remember to stop and eat every few hours, because you will be glued to the game!

GTA goes back to the 80's in style..

The fourth instalment in the Grand Theft Auto series, is not a sequal but a prequal to the previous games. Taking place in a Miami type city known as Vice City, you are hoisted back into the 1980s in this quazi spoof of Miami Vice. You will play as Tommy Vercetti, a criminal from Liberty City, who was sent away for 15 years and now wants to make up for lost time.

Those who are familiar with the Grand Theft Auto will be able to enjoy the humor and common themes carried over by previous games. To the new comers of the series this is a great way to start as this easily surpases the previous 3 versions of the game. Not just in the expected improved graphics, but in the overall design and feel of the game. The usual constants remain, you are a criminal who has to steal other peoples cars so you can do missions for people in the crime world. Sometimes the missions will be based in the car other times they will be on foot or they will be time challenge missions that you have certain minutes to do or it will be a failure. This time though they have added new vehicles for you to play with. Helicoptors, motorcycles, radio controled devices amongst improvements on already established mainstays from the previous 3 games. The best improvement over the thrid game is they finaly let you see the map though overall so you can plan out where you want to go or where you have to go.

Great voice casting , where the ones doing the voices seem to play the parts as if they were second nature. For a moment you will really start to believe you are in this world as Tommy. The game also is not just a linear do one mission then the next until completed type of game. Often times you will just jump in a car and see where you wind up. Even after you finish the main missions there will be so much more to do. It's great to find a game that is fun, funny and realistic and one that never truly ends even after you beat it.

I can't recomend this game enough. There are so many things you can do in this game that you will never truly be done with it. It's quite addicting and best of all quite fun. The weapons are numerous and the missions challenging enough to put your mind to good use in the midst of all the gunshots flying by. You too will want to get behind the wheel the moment you get this and strive for the 100% score.
