THE MOST WONDERFUL GAME EVER

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 6 / 21
Date: November 09, 2005
Author: Amazon User

If my typing is a little lagging, please forgive me, I was up all night playing "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire." Without doubt, the best game I have ever played. The graphics were so good that it was almost like being at Hogwarts. [...] is the best moment of any game I've ever played, though Dumbledore is my favorite character. I was a little dissappointed that the plot of the seventh book was revealed by entrance to a hidden passage (near the portrait of the Buddhist-looking nuns on the fifth floor). It was the best thirty-second birthday present ever. I go to school in a small town in New York and all my first period studyhall teacher talked about the whole period was how good the game was and that's all everyone else has been talking about since. We're a little obsessed (this is coming from a person who has Harry Potter tattooed across his back). THE BEST GAME EVER. Buy it. Period.

Changed style - Not better

If you liked the other Harry Potter games this one will disappoint you. It is not a free-roaming game. You do not get to go to Hogwarts and enter classrooms and grounds and search for anything. You have very little control over what spells you cast and they have introduced a confusing and time consuming card system that does not improve the game. You don't get to fly around on your broom or look for secrets or items. The camera is useless. I don't know why they changed the game so much when the others were so much fun.Very disappointed.

The most awful game-sequel ever

I agree with the second reviewer - if you liked the other Harry Potter games, this latest one is sure to disappoint. However, unlike another reviewer, I won't be so callous as to completely spoil a book's surprise ending.

One of the more disappointing features of this new game is the inability to see more than a few feet in front of you. That is, whereas in the other game you had control of the camera with the joystick you didn't use to run (by the way, Harry cannot duck or jump in this game either); in other games you used the joystick to look up, down and all around the town! When Harry ran through the game, you saw where he was going because the view was from behind. Here, the view is aerial and you have no idea what's ahead.

The card system is indeed confusing and the booklet doesn't explain much. I miss roaming around the entire school, entering into the classrooms, running through Diagon Alley and looking for secret items. You can't go roaming anymore, you must follow an prearranged order. The Bertie Botts Beans you uncover for points now fly away from you, and you must chase them down if you want points. If I had the chance to offer an opinion to the game designers, I would say "do over".

Nice game, but no roaming around!!

I do not have this game yet, but I'm getting it for Christmas. The graphics, enviroments, and the trailers look excellent. But, lately I have been hearing people say that there is no roaming around at Hogwarts like the previous games, and instead you pick levels from a pensieve and collect tri-wizard shields to procede to the next level. Also, people were complaing about how bad the camera was. But, I think it will be a fun game while your waiting for the movie to come out or if your bored.

Too much like Lord of the Rings

I agree with the other reviewers...why no roaming? I liked being able to start and end the day instead of just go thru different levels. Roaming around was one of the best parts of the game, sneaking past the prefects and flying aimlessly around on your broom. Overall a disappointment. The game is fun, but not like the others at all. Why the sudden switch?

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!

Where to begin, oh yeah, this game rocks and I do not know why people are rating it so low!!! This game is rated e 10, EEEEEEEE-1000! How many adults or kids 10 or older would want to be solving puzzles and all other sorts of childish things! IF YOU ONLY WANTED TO TEST THE GAME, THEN GUESS WHAT! YOU SHOULD OF RENTED IT! I AM A 13 YEAR OLD GAMER AND I AM GLAD EA made the game have levels instead of CHILDISH stuff to do!!

Ripp Off - complete and utter ripp off!!!!

Do not take any notice of the people who say this game is good, as it is a total ripp off and i can honsetly say the game has completely changed to the last 3 games with no exploration around hogwarts, it feels like you are skimming the pages of the book and not that feeling off being in the game, it has taken me one day to complete this game and the ending took 3 minutes to conquer so i have sold my game as it is not worth having in my collection, i feel EA rushed this game and i cannot believe they changed it as this is not at all like the 3 previous games, total ripp off EA!!!! i just hope my voting on EA.COM has made a difference and gets EA to remake the goblet of fire!!!!!!!! a very dissapointed customer.

P.S Also if anyone wants a true review of this game try gamespot.com or .co.uk and read the reviews you'll understand what i mean if you have not bought this game already.

4th Potter game...As Good as it Gets

Many people say that this game is a waste of time, and I really wonder why. I personally enjoy the games style of play... you must select an available level and you unlock new levels by collecting Tri-Wizard shields. There are missions to fulfill in each level and you can revisit them for multiple missions. The camera angles are fixed, but this has posed no problem for me. This game is relatively simple to play, but can cater to the collecter types, too. It's rather a step off the beaten path for the Potter series, but I say a job well done!

I thought that Harry Potter was supposed to be fun.

One of the very exciting features of this game are the big cauldrons. You can lift them by using magic, and smash statues, walls, fountains and much more! (Wow, the rush of adrenaline!)
But I discovered a very cool minigame: take up the cauldrons and smash them to your companions. It's fun, man, better than the minigames by EA.

No seriously, don't waste your money on this one. Harry Potter deserves better.
