Good Escapism

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 2 / 2

If you like a good story line with a lot of old-fashioned shoot em up dogfighting, this game is for you. No, its not a great flight sim, but that's not the point here. This is just a great action arcade game and don't try to make it out to be anything else. I would say this is the video game equivalent of an escapist matinee cliffhanger that our grandparents used to see for ten cents back in the old days. Enjoy!

the best unknown game ever

I bought this because I love airplanes and got tired of playing fps. This game is very fun and hard at the same time. Shooting down planes isn't that hard. My strategy is aim where I think there going to be instead of trying to follow them. Anyway the graphics are awesome and there are lots of planes. There are 3 game modes, campaign, your normal mode, fight now, where you can get a japanese plane and fight at pearl harbor, or historical where you play in very important parts of the war. in the fight now mode, you can use Japanese planes won from previous levels, bombers, fighters, and anything in between. I can't believe how unknown this is, its a masterpiece for a dogfighting game.

Not bad, not great.

Its a pretty good game if the subject matter is something your into. But its pretty basic, nothing special just a standard arcade-ish kind of flying game.

Challenging!

This is a cool game but very challenging for a mid-centurtion but I keep practicing and get better at it every time. I really wish there were more option like carrier aircraft and carrier ops.

Heroes of the Pacific

If you like air combat games even a little, you will really enjoy HoP. I am really into combat flight sims and have played them all. This one is very accurate in detail, the controls are very easy to get used to and use. The enemies are challanging and the game is historically accurate. The game is smooth running and the storyline is better than most others. The planes are well detailed and fly smoothly. This is a tremendous upgrade in WWII air combat compared to secret Weapons Over Normandy. I liked that game but HoP is leagues better.

Not Fun

This game is not fun, it is tedious. Everytime you fail at a mission you have to go back to the beginning. Listening to the instructor nag you that you need to get back to your flight plan when you are directly over the enemy target is annoying to say the least. I could also do without the constant insults. I agree with a previous reviewer; targeting is extremely hard and frustrating. Note to Programers: GAMES ARE SUPPOSED TO BE FUN. Don't waste your money.

Challenging and great re-play value

Not often does a flight sim offer the extreme challenge and endurance of "Heroes of the Pacific." This game has great features and is fun to play over and over. The challenging levels keep me coming back. Unique aircraft flight characteristics lend reality to an otherwise excellent game. A long time coming, I can't wait to see what's next.

Best birthday gift.

I bought this for my husband as an early birthday present and he loves the game. It is his favorite game to play right now he even says he likes it more thatn Ace Combat.

full of action/many types of planes

I bought this as a game and a history lesson for my 10 yr old. He loves it and plays it more than several of the other more modern flight type of games. It starts with the slowest least responsive plane from world war II and progresses to the faster more agile types as you develop your skills.

Nice Try. Secret Weapons was WAY better

I'm starting to agree with other writers of reviews for this game. That damn instructor that keeps yelling at you any time you demonstrate any free will should be shot. This game is a SAD copy of Secrety Wepons Over Normandy. I'm a huge WWII aircraft buff and spend my free time studying the aircraft of that era. Of course it was fun to fly the F4U for a sec but the missions are ridiculous. The graphics are good and there's a great use of WW II propaganda posters between missions. I did like that you can get a view as if your actually in the cockpit as well. However that view is that same no matter what plane your in. At least with "Secret Weapons" they did their homework. I'm sorry but there's no way any fighter pilot had to shoot down 80 planes in a single mission. I returned this game after one play.
