EA's Worst Attempt at a Bond Game Yet

2 Rating: 2, Useful: 2 / 15

I have played both of EA's previous 007 games...Agent Under Fire and Nightfire. Though they lacked a good storyline, they much better than Everything or Nothing.

Well, apparently, EA Games decided to switch from the traditional first-person shooter view to the third-person view, which allowed you to take up more stealth oriented segments, interact with the enviroment and (Finally!) use some hand-to-hand combat moves. Everything or Nothing packs a great storyline (And a good opening video) into the game but lacks the hardcore gameplay of past 007 games.

For those who don't know what I mean, running through an open area firing at enemy snipers isn't as fun or seamless as Nightfire or Agent Under Fire was. Most of the action oriented segments aren't as fun at all...firing at enemies seems way too sluggish for some reason and not as fluid as other third-person shooting games such as Enter the Matrix (Maybe because of the auto-lock on system). But as you, suspect, 007 also gets a good ammount of driving missions to go along with the actual running and gunning attitude. A few of these missions pretty much comtemplate for the somewhat dull car chases in EA's last games. For example...you can't say riding a motorcycle through a crowded highway equipped with at least 600 rockets, a wheel-mounted flamethrower and machine guns isn't fun, especially when fellow enemies are driving around you on motorcycles. Plus, you have to dodge cars when going at breakneck speed. Its much more fun that guiding a BMW Z3 through Hong Kong (With a nod to Agent Under Fire). In addition to all that, Everything Or Nothing adds a notable new feature to the game called Bond Sense (Or something similar to that name). Now before you think Bond can be alert of danger and was bitten by a radioactive spider (Which he wasn't), Bond Sense can be activated by a touch of a button. The screen around you turns blue (Though the enviroments and enemies are completely visible), and a bullet time gameplay emerges, except that Bond cannot move while in this mode. It basically just allows you to look around at whatever ambushes you have currently got yourself into, check the status of your enemies, and plus, it looks cool.

The game also adds a co-op campaign, so two players can team up and complete a series of missions that is not even closely connected to the main storyline. You get a list of secret agents who you haven't heard of before and complete a variety of rather annoying missions. It could be pretty much improved though...without traditional FPS gameplay it loses the luster that it could have had.

The game also features a skirmish gameplay, in which two players can duel it out in an arena. However, don't get your hopes up...its pretty much dull. The arenas are compact and rather small (You only receive one at the start of the game), and the gameplay could have been improved by a lot. All you basically do in one arena is run up and down the stairs, pick up rocket launchers and aimlessly fire it at people. And if you want a quick kill, you can go to one of the flashing blue buttons on the wall, press it, and either one of tbe two small floors will unleash an explosion, or a crisscross of lethal trip wires will appear.

Overall, you can see that Everything Or Nothing (However vehicular combat skilled it is) lost its luster...the multiplayer games aren't the insanely fun FPS bombardment games that they used to be and the co-op game is fun at the beggening, but soon loses its touch. My reccomandation is not to buy it...it may be worth one or two rentals, but definetely not a purchase!

This game was fun at times but controlling the character was too frustrating with aiming and movement. Nuff said.

007 Goes Third Person...And Its Not Appreciated

Okay, lets face it. Ea's 007 titles never were very good, with relatively simple missions where you run around from room to room and shoot everyone that moves in the trademark first-person view. But compared to Everything or Nothing, games like Agent Under Fire and Nightfire are much more appreciated than this miserable transition from first-person to third-person.

Though a few of the vehicular missions are fun [Especially the one where you ride around on a motorcycle through a highway that is equipped with about 600 rockets and wheel-mounted flamethrowers], you can't really appreciate the high-action factor of James Bond in a third-person point of view.

Yeah, I have to agree that Everything Or Nothing has some pretty good points such as great graphics and a new Bullet-Time like feature where everything slows down [And Bond can't do anything but look around to see where incoming attacks from enemies are coming], not to mention a more interactive enviroment where you can bash objects into opponents and finally be able to use more hand-to-hand combat features, the game just steals the true nature of Bond games such as the classic original 007: Goldeneye for N64.

The game's storyline though is more of a Bond story than many of the other 007 franchise games EA has a created, which kinda connects to other movies such as Moonraker, with Jaws reappearing and an "student" [????] KGB agent of Max Zorin appearing which probably will appear to Bond fans more than previous games do.

The once, intense multiplayer modes from games such as Nightfire had been replaced to yet another twisted third-person idea that is a sad attempt to live up to the Bond legacy. The multiplayer is mode is not split-screen but instead a view from above where players run around a small room, wrestling with eachother with sad hand-to-hand combat features while picking up guns and pressing buttons for death-traps such as an entire floor being covered with lasers that automatically kill to the touch an and entire floor suddenly exploding.

The co-op mode is also horrible, which takes place in a completely different storyline [Though the mode has no storyline AT ALL, except random missions ranging from disarming bombs to clearing a courtyard of enemies in splitscreen]. Bond fans will definetely not appreciate the new strange characters available in co-op mode that didn't appear in ANY Bond storyline. The co-op mode is pretty fun sometimes, but can get boring quickly. The co-op mode could have been greatly improved in first-person and with a storyline and more 007 related characters and a storyline at least. I seriously warn you...do not buy this game!!!!!!

WHAT IS UP WITH THE 3RD PERSON CAMERA DIDNT EA LEARN FROM TOMORROW NEVERDIES HORRIBLE BOND GAMEPLAY USING THAT 3RD PERSON VIEW. THE MULTIPLAYER COOPERATE IS HORRIBLE , I PRAY THAT THE GAME GETS BETTER AS I CONTINUE THE GAME. ILL JUST HAVE TO ENJOY NIGHTFIRE'S MULTILAYER TO ACTUALLY KICK MY FRIENDS ASS.AND WHY ISNT THERE A MANUAL AIMING SYSTEM INSTEAD OF THAT LOCK ON.WHAT EA SHOULD HAVE DONE WAS MAKE IT OPTIONAL TO CHOOSE FROM 1ST PERSON SHOOTER TO 3RD PERSON VIEW BEFORE I BOUGHT THE GAME I THOUGHT THATS HOW IT WAS GOING TO BE. THE VISUALS ARE THE BEST FOUND IN THE PS2 SO IS THE INTRO AND THE VOICES MAKE IT A BOND GAME.I LIKE THIS GAME ALOT I JUST HOPE IT DOESNT DISAPPOINTS ME LATER ON. IT WOULDNT HAVE HURT TO EVEN COPY THE MULTIPLAYER FOUND IN NIGHTFIRE ONTO EVERYTHING OR NOTHING, THE MULTIPLAYER SHOULD HAVE USED FIRST PERSON SHOOTER VIEW. AT LEAST THERES A SECRET TO PUT 1ST PERSON VIEW IN THE GAME

overrated piece of garbage, plain and simple!

my god, it's amazing how overrated some games can be.

supposedly the "best" bond game.. and i love bond, i love FPS action games, surely i would love this game, right?! wrong.

things start off looking fun... oh, a nice little tutorial to teach you cool moves. cool weapons. but things immediately reveal themselves to be terrible. you repel down a wall.. then you have about 6 guys shooting at you from all sides. but uh oh, their bullets are apparently much stronger than yours! and there's no health to be found anywhere! wait, you're telling me bond packed all these incredible technological tools in his backpack, AND HE DOESN'T BRING ANY MED KITS??? jesus christ, you must be joking. that wouldn't be a problem if surviving wasn't nearly IMPOSSIBLE. and remember, this is just the FIRST part. you have more parts to complete after this, while TRYING to stay alive.

ok, so let's say you're a wonderful gamer and you DO survive. so what? the shooting action is BORING BORING BORING BORING BORING BORING BORING. press a button to auto aim your enemy. pull the trigger. that's it! no aiming at all! just pushing a button. wow. this is what games have become? give me a break. i've played great FPS games on PC like call of duty and half-life 2, and this doesn't cut it, at all. besides, who decided that bond is supposed to be some superman with a pistol anyway?? isn't he supposed to be more of a spy than rambo?

THE WORST GAME EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EA Games is awful at making games. They put nice graphics in it, but after that, its probobly the worst storyline, worst gameplay, and worst overall game experience. It's okay to rent, but you can beat this in about 2 hours on easy, and my friend beat it on 00 agent in about half an hour. Really bad game.
