This game is the worst jurassic park operation genesis. I would recommend the pc or xbox version. Yes u get 25 dinosaurs to CHOSE from but not to have all at ONCE. you can only get 3 dig sites oh lets see in every dig site u get 3 diffenrnt dinosaurs so a total of 9 dinos in a park. Thats right 9. In xbox u can get 5 dig sites so 5x3=15. Plus in the pc u can hack and then get ALL thats right ALL dinos. Plus dont hack and get 15 still. The xbox also has days and nights. Ps2 no day or night. pc i don't know but probley. Xbox and pc way better graphics then ps2.

I agree with Jonathan here. I was happy with my game atleast until I decided to go on the internet and look up stuff for the game. Befor I did this though I didn't like the way you could only get 9 Dinos. When I entered the internet I relized I could get 15 or them all. So i was very dissaponted with it. So if you want a good game get Jurassic Park Operaion Genesis for COMPUTER OR XBOX NOT I REPEAT NOT PS2. The game also on Xbox has advanced graphics with a day and night period and with a advanced Spin attack when under water. Also the Pc has day and night with the spin attack and a hidden dinosaur model, the igunadon, in the files. The computer also alaws you to hack. The only disadvantage is you don't have as many cheats. But the cheats can easliy be done by reading instructions on websites and hacking. The Xbox version has the same cheats i believe as the ps2. So if you want Jpog get the Pc or Xbox.

I cant even play it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Be aware when buying PSII games! The ones with the purplish blue backside do not work on all systems and unless you are very lucky, the stores won't take them back and Sony will do nothing to compensate you for your loss. They will offer to "fix" your playstation (that isn't broken) by adding some chip in it i am sure, for 75.00! If you have a Playstation bought 2 years ago or so, be aware!

Its OK after a little editing

First off, this game has NO replay value, is not hard at all and the Dinosaurs are tame as a dog. I myself have never had an unintentional breakout, the Dinosaurs tend to drop into a Coma before trying to break out. The Site B mode gets old twice as fast as the normal Park Builder mode. There are sites out there with guides on how to make all the Dinosaurs available, and then make it possible to make hundreds of Dinosaurs, I've even made it possible to have 300 fossil teams. In theory you can edit the game to make Dinosaurs more aggressive. The other downside, no flying Dinosaurs and Dinosaurs cannot reproduce (Which is a huge downside in Site B mode). The in-game messages boarder on Game Spam, and when visitors leave your park unhappy, you get a message that says they left, and for what reason, but not how to fix it.

In short, this game would have been better with some more work on the part of the Developers, the visuals are excellent, but the gameplay fell short.

Good but repetitive

This is the first sim game I have ever bothered with, and although it is very creative, I have also found myself sighing with boredom at times while playing due the redundant gameplay. The dinosaurs are interestng to observe, provided you are not busy performing park maintenance or reading the staff emails which seems to encompass at least 90% of the game. Overall I think it is a good game although I recommend renting it first as I think you can experience everything the game has to offer within a week of playing it.

Well, I have just been playing the game myself. It's not too bad, it beats being bored. I'd say it would be more suitable for younger kids, apart from the fact that you see dinosaurs ripping sheep and cows apart! The game can be quite fun at times, when you decide to trash your park by letting a few really stressed Spinosaurus go mad in the park! Quite entertaining to watch! :D The fact that you only get 9 dinosaurs does suck, and there aren't many buildings and things. I'd say Theme Park is probably better, and more fun! (and cheaper! :D)

The JURASSIC PARK game to beat!

It's been a long time coming, but there's finally a game based on the JURASSIC PARK films that doesn't disappoint: JURASSIC PARK - OPERATION GENESIS. Jettisoning the all-action format of previous releases, JURASSIC PARK - OPERATION GENESIS is a park-building simulation that doesn't reach the heights of complexity displayed by its PC brethren, but still provides plenty of challenge and fun on the PS2. The idea is so simple that it's surprising no one's ever done it before now.

The game has five different modes of play. At the core of the game is "Operation Genesis" itself. In this mode, the player first designs the island on which Jurassic Park will be built. Shape, terrain, and even vegetation can be altered to suit. Once those decisions have been made, a certain amount of money is available to begin construction of the park. Would-be park moguls will have to carefully grow their Jurassic Park, slowly adding amenities and attractions while continuing to search the globe for viable genetic material with which to produce a growing variety of dinosaurs. The ultimate goal is to earn a five-star rating, and be declared the greatest theme park in the world.

JURASSIC PARK - OPERATION GENESIS allows for a surprising amount of micromanagement and interactivity. Players can set the menu items at the snack kiosks, adjust the precise amount of time visitors may spend in the static attractions like the viewing platforms, and much more. The camera can follow individual park-goers (each with his or her own name, place of origin, personality, and preferences) down at ground level, or can fly high above the action below. One can even enter any ride and see what the visitors see. It's quite a lot of fun to commandeer a truck on the Safari Adventure ride and cruise around the enclosures, taking photographs for fun and profit.

Players can challenge themselves with "Exercises" mode. At first functioning as a tutorial, this mode eventually features a series of increasingly difficult trials related to running Jurassic Park. For those who want a break from ticket prices and crowd management, "Missions" mode dares players to accomplish various tasks, from rescue missions in a park gone berserk, to complex photo-gathering expeditions.

All the players' hard work pays off in "Site B" mode, where unlocked fossil sites provide the genetic material to populate a nature preserve with dinosaurs that can interact freely. It's an unexpected pleasure to be able to sit back and just watch.

Graphics, sound and music are all fantastic. The dinosaurs behave realistically, whether eating, playing, or...defecating. With John Williams' score swelling in the background, any JURASSIC PARK fan is sure to feel overwhelmed by a sense of immediacy, or even wonder, during play. The terror of a strong thunderstorm, a dino on the loose, or a tornado that threatens to destroy the park, is palpable, thanks to the designers' attention to atmosphere and rock-solid gameplay. JURASSIC PARK - OPERATION GENESIS is real treat.

THE BEST

FUN, I think because you can make your own park I have it for PC but it doesn't work well, who cares PS2 version is cool in JPOG you make a park, do missions, site B and Tutorials. I'm so into the Game I make my own designs like visitor/admin. in a enclosure and have dinos on the outside it's queit conveinient because u don't waste all ur buildings or fences just paths but, you have to make it big (the enclosure) or u'll run out of room to put stuff like the safari ride and balloon ride and the dinos won't go on rampage because lack of room, water, plants and need to hunt that's anoter pro cons for this design none except lack of room for guests but who cares they don't go on rampage and destroy ur park (fehw) but another con is u have to research heavy fencing and visitor shelter before u make ur dinos like T-Rex and spino.

Finally a JP game that is good and what should have been an expected game format since the release of the first film.

This game is a great world builder for everyone (some hard core world builders may find it a bit easy). The interface is easy once you understand it (doing the tutorials are a must) and you'll be kicking dinos out of the hatchery in no time.

The graphics are great but the music and "message from" voice get a little annoying (thankfully you can turn them off). The dinosaurs are well rendered and interact with each other just like you would expect in a real Jurassic Park. The rampages that happen, especially after a twister takes down a section of one of your enclousers are FANTASTIC. I laughed my butt off!

A few short comings kept me from giving 5 stars:

First, you have no control over game speed. Although the game moves at a good pace, it would have been better to have had the ability to slow or speed things up.

Second, there is a serious lack of buildings. Some of the buildings you would expect for this type of theme park are here, but the game could have up'd the challenge a bit by adding more support buildings (other than the cleaning buildings). Like maybe having to build a research lab rather than taking for granted those facilities just exist, or maintenance facilities needed to take care of safari vehicles and helos. A park pre-opening period would have been helpful and good for getting these types of buildings constructed.

Third, was not being able to build an unlimited number, or at least a high number of buildings. You are severly and annoyingly limited in the number of certain buildings you can construct (bathrooms)!

Fourth, the number and varity of dinosaurs you can make. The dinosaur populations maxed out at 60 (not really that bad). But, I did not like not being able to unlock more than three dig sites, which are needed to get fossils for DNA extraction, giving you better varity. It was my biggest dissapointment because some of my parks ended up being all Cretaceous era parks. They could at least allow you to change the name from "Jurassic Park" to "Cretaceous Park". It is however part of the game challenge because you have to satisfy a varity of park visitors taste, but it's still annoying.

Finally, the research portion was kind of dissapointing. You must conduct research before using or building certain things. Some of them are what you would expect to research and where usefull to game play like dinosaur vaccines. However there was some really dumb stuff, like cash machines and souvenir stands. HELLO, the game year starts in 2000, and I think man had evolved well beyond the point of having to research cash machines and gift shops before being able to build them (call Chevy Chase Bank which if you ever lived in the DC area you would know what I'm talking about).

Back on the bright side, this game has great replayability. There was so much more to do than just build a park. The tutorials (again a must) cut to the chase and were not just an annoying task to complete. You can do the tutorials and avoid having to refer to the game manual at all. There are tons of side missions also. Completing one, unlocks the next. Then there is the ultimate goal of getting site B unlocked. A chunk of land and the ability to breed dinosaurs that you cut loose to roam free.

There is promise for a franchise game here. If they decide to release expansion packs that make some improvements listed above, I would also buy the PC version.
