Amazing Fun for All Singers

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 16 / 16

If you think of Karaoke as a bad bar game, think again! With your XBox not only can you have amazing fun with yourself and friends, but you actually learn to be a better singer!

My boyfriend is in a band, and was in a choir for my entire school career. I never was much of a fan of karaoke, though. So it was with trepidation that I gave this game a try. It comes complete with a microphone and 50 songs for you to sing along with. The mix is a great cross section of old and new, from "When a Man Loves a Woman" to "Complicated". There are single player, multi player, arcade mode, sequential mode, and of course straightforward karaoke.

The graphics in the game are really good. You get to choose from a number of character models to represent you, each with several costumes. There are several environments, each with moving backgrounds and bandmates to back you up.

The crowd really gets into the song - either clapping and dancing around if you do well, or booing and leaving if you do poorly. It gives you immediate feedback to do better. The feedback line on the bottom of the screen is excellent as well. The arrow moves along with the musical line, showing you clearly if you are too sharp or flat, and "sparking" if you nail it perfectly. It really is extremely impressive, to see how far audio systems have come that this is "just a game".

You can play on levels from basic to expert, to help you learn how the songs and system works before you really try to nail every single note. It's easy at the beginning, and you can unlock new songs, costumes, environments, and more. But the real test of course is cranking the game up to expert and seeing just how talented you are. Can you get the rhythm and pitch spot on, or are you going to be booed off stage?

With the proliferation of musical reality shows, it's often easy to think of singing as an 'easy task', something anybody can do in the shower. We all only hear our voices inside our heads, and tend to think we are singing wonderfully. This game is a great training tool, to help you be on key with much more accuracy.

You can even download more songs from XBox Live if you want to - or play against friends to see who is the best singer in the group. It's incredibly addictive, you want to keep playing along to do better and better, until your throat starts to get sore :)

Highly recommended! 5/5

The Sound of Music

This game reminds me of the movie the Sound of Music except that in the movie everybody could sing. You don't need to be able to sing to play and enjoy this game.
Good singers can enjoy the game too - just play on expert level and if that's not enough remove the scale bars or even the words or both, then you can even turn the music right down and sing solo.
That will level the playing field for lousy singers like me who will sing in easy or medium.
The game is total fun!
First night I got thrown off stage so many times I thought the game itself would disallow me from playing.
It's a great game .
If you want to have lots of fun - Don't waste time.Get it!

PS Konami - Bring on the expansion disks!!!

Fun and good practice!

This game just isnt about getting up and singing in front of everyone. This game actually "teaches" you to sing. It will let you know when you need to raise the tone of your voice or lower it. Very helpful and fun to try to hit that perfect note. Characters fun and many unlockables of more characters, outfits, videos, outtakes, etc. I hear the expansion cd (of more songs and characters) is coming out in September of 2004. Even though the current songs are nice you go through them quicker the you would think and now (Feb 2004) I have to wait forever for the expansions. I would actually recommend waiting on this product a little while or you'll go through withdrawls while you wait for more songs ;) Great game though! Good for parties and get togethers.

P.S. If you suck at singing you can turn your voice down and just do the raising and lowering of the tone of your voice. Fun and nobody can hear you.... (except dogs)

Fun for those who sing and those who don't

Excellent music and rhythm game. Particularly fun and exciting for those who suffer from controller wrist and finger pain because all you need is the microphone headset. If you like Amplitude and Dance Dance Revolution, you'll love Karaoke Revolution. You do really sing and hitting pitch is much more difficult than you think. I highly recommend this for anyone who enjoys music and likes to have fun.

I bought this game an it is great! It does come with 30+ songs which is a good selection, but I can't wait to get the expansion discs! I did find on the game's homepage a place where you can make requests for songs that you would like to see on future discs. Hopefully america will make lots of requests so we can get some expansion discs soon!

Love it!

My son just loves this - he got one for Christmas and he "practiced" in the non-judging karaoke mode b/c he was intimidated by the judging, but now we set the judging on "easy" and he beams with pride after winning gold and platinum albums. I'm trying to find more info about the expansion pack to get more songs rather than buy the second version which apparently has very little new except for songs.

It`s so cool! When you first try it out it's hard! When your singing is good and loud the crowd meter goes up.That means the
crowd will clap to the song!Every time I play the crowd claps to
my song! And that can happen to you too!You can turn down the
volume and sing into your microphone! But you have to know the
words or else the'll boo you off of the stage.Light up your
microphone for bonus ponits. How?Sing with all your heart. You can
unlock outfits, modes and many more. This is hard, but my friend is
always saying'Get close to the end of the stage. Why?Because the
crowd can hear you better han ever! When people wave their hands,
that's your chance to touch theirs.Because they can come up on
stage with you to dance or sing. Then they can perform live in
your band. Then the'll get a part to sing or dance.Whatever they
want! Then your group will get dressing rooms. They have like,so
much money they can buy the mall. They can buy a millon things
and outfits! You can perform on streets beaches and more. You give
your adress or picture to the person who got the part. They can be
a little selfish about the part.So you got to be the best that is
there.Your gonna like this!Once you get in your room, there are
make-up packs waiting for you! There are alot of closets full of
clothes and shoes!Let the fun begin!People have to knock before
entering your room.So you can freely change out of your dirty
clothes into your clean clothes. When your closets,dressers,make-
up sets, and shoes are gone,a kind person with alot of boxes will
come and dump more clothes in your stuff. It's pretty fun to pick
your nicknane, chacater, band, stage, and outfit. You are judged by
Karaoke Revolution. You have to wear the new clothes. Not stinky
clothes. If your wearing bad clothes, the'll boo you off the stage.
I think that it's funny playing with one or four friends, because
we all just get laugh at eachother!I sang Are you Happy Now with
the headphone. My friend Brianna is like saying"Watch out because
the button's just jump right up on the TV screen like,"Snap!
If you like music and getting on stage, then this
game is for you!
